Hey RK. Have you looked into hCGChica and her P3 to Life program? She is constantly posting new recipes and testimonials. Her website is very upbeat and positive. Not really a forum like this, but a great resource. I've heard many comment about P3 like you. Since P2 is SO structured and then P3 is pretty unstructured, it makes them nervous. Using the hCGChica program gives more structure to P3 and might work better for you

I've not tried a PI yet. My timing on this round is more based around the 6 weeks required before blood work for thyroid. Funny thing about my Dr is that he is younger-ish, in his 30s. I thought he would be more open-minded than my previous doc who was an old school endo and a year from retirement. (He was the only endo in the three surrounding counties, BTW.) Anyway, it turns out I was wrong. I bought this guy the book by Dr. Ken D. Berry titled "Lies My Doctor Told Me". I delivered it personally to his office. Although he has thanked me for it, I don't think he has read it or even intends to... Too bad.

As for baking chicken... too dry for me too and I get aversions to food that is too dry. The best results I've had for cooking the chicken breast is to sauté them in chicken broth, sprinkled liberally with garlic powder and cover the pan. Be sure not to overcook and then dice them up right away to keep them from cooking more. I cook 3 at a time and bag them up in 3.5 oz packages and that lasts 4 or 5 days. Also, check hCGChica's site. She's got some pretty good recipes - too complicated for me, but if you like to cook, might be right up your alley!

    Happy Tuesday all!

    Hi LinderLou,

Thank you for the tips! Thank you also for the chicken recipe!

Sorry about your doctor! That just is awful. Good idea about the book. Have you called his office and told him you are cold and tired on this dose? I only suggest this because if you keep complaining nicely they may just give you what you want to get you off their backs. I have had to do that. It is wonderful to live in a rural setting though. I wish I did! I have friends who live in the country and often they come here to visit and and we go there.

Are you thinking of starting your round in January? Good way to go to wait until after the holidays. I just could not fit into any clothes so I didn’t want to wait!

Well I am so excited to look at the hcg Chicas website for P3! Thanks so much for that!
    Have a wonderful day!

Do you know why my ticker is not showing up?

I was looking at recipes --trying to find something I could feed my family and eat also--and saw that people are using Broccoli and Zucchini in P2. I went to Pounds and Inches and the are not listed. IS this just a cheat some people do? I like to stay POP. It's only for a short time and I think I get better results.

Also, has anyone had any good results baking chicken tenders? I usually grill mine. I tried baking them and they were on the dry side. Any tips wold be appreciated. Thanks!
Sorry for the delay. I had a response typed out yesterday and must have not submitted it.

You'll need to get the raw URL (starts with http and ends with the file type, something like .gif) Put the url between image tags [ IMG ] url here [ /IMG ] (without the spaces) The site will no longer let you link back to the ticker.

Broccoli and zucchini are not on the original protocol menu. But there are lots of protocol variation that include all kinds of things, so you probably saw a recommendation based on one of those. I agree with staying POP. Why mess with success, is my view.

I always did my chicken tenders fresh on a Foreman grill. They actually tasted good that way. Or I would put chunks in a P2 soup. I think baking is really tricky for something so lean.

Hi Leez and whoever is out there,

I have a problem this weekend. I am judging a baking contest. I did it last year and it was such fun, I had everyone talk about their best tips and biggest fails. So I was invited back this year and I really thought I could get out of tasting and just be master of ceremonies but I can’t! Too soon for a planned interruption. Today is P2 Day 10.

Does anyone have any tips for me? I am very frustrated about this and not sure what to do.

    Thanks,
    RK

    Hi RK,

What if you tell them that currently the doctor has you on a very restrictive diet and you can only eat certain foods, baked goods not being on the list? Could you have someone else do the tasting for you and rate the entries for you? Sounds like P2 to me...

I've been in situations where there was pressure to eat things off protocol. The answer of "I'd love to, but I just can't eat that right now" is usually accepted by most people because it is not a turn down, but a temporary situation.

    My two cents...

    Hi Leez and LinderLou,

Good News! I applied everyone's suggestions. Thank you Leez and LinderLou. I had last years winners be the assistant judges and we evaluated the recipes together. Then I had everyone rinse with water "to cleanse the palate" between samples which gave me an opportunity to spit it out. I think everyone enjoyed learning new ways to evaluate recipes and it was a lot of fun...

Even better, I did not gain any weight! So today I am back home and hopeful to continue on the right path. Thank you again for your help! I was really nervous!

Hope everyone has a great day!

    HI,

I have a question maybe we should all discuss. What are we doing about Thanksgiving? I am stuck doing all the cooking as usual. I am trying to figure out if I should do a Planned Interruption or not. Leez, what have most people done in the past?

Thanks everyone for giving your input! I just had to start this round as I no longer own "Fat Clothes" in the size I was...So while this was poor planning, I know we can figure this out together.

I've been in P2 for thanksgiving before. I roasted a chicken brined in lemon and herbs, grilled some fennel and made some chocolate dip for fresh strawberries for dessert. It was festive and fine. Or at least thats what I told myself. If you wanted to allow a small splurge, cooking some fresh cranberries with stevia would be a fairly innocuous option.

I don't think its worth doing a planned interruption, because you have to come off the HCG the three days before, and then you have to continue the interruption for at least 4 days, so you forfeit about a week of your losing time for that one meal. Since it takes 4-5 days (or more) to recover from an off-protocol day, it is pretty much a trade-off to just go for it on the holiday meal and then get right back on plan.

But even on an interruption, you can't do sugar or starch, so you are still restricted from the traditional holiday goodie recipes.

Hi RK. I agree with Leez about not doing a PI for one meal (really, it IS only one meal). I did a round two years ago that spanned Turkey day. While I wasn't in charge of ALL of the cooking, I had enough control over most of it that I made it through on protocol and even lost that day. My approach was cooking a prime rib for everyone, steamed asparagus, and an undressed green salad. Other people brought the typical marshmallow yams, stuffing and other carby foods. I also brought pre-cooked tail-on shrimp to share as an appetizer along with SF cocktail sauce, as well as celery stalks. I saved up all of my meals and just started with the shrimp and celery. By the time we were ready for dinner, I was already quite full and able to eat just a small portion of the prime rib, salad and asparagus. I think I even had a glass of wine... Anyway, I did not feel deprived at all in passing up yams, rolls and stuffing.

That said, I'm planning to load tomorrow and Saturday and will be P2D12 on Thanksgiving this year. No big party this time, but I know I can get through it since it is only one meal. Hey, if you were able to get through the baking contest, this should be a cake walk (ha ha)!

Soooo, I'll be joining you tomorrow and hoping to clean out the fridge of all non-P2 foods. Well, I will leave a few things for DH to live on for the next 30 days or so. Looking forward to having the hcg magic happen once again!
