Oh, Lynne, it's Gellan Gum. I have found plenty of info about it. Not as bad as carrageenan, but I'm getting to the point that I don't want ANY of those additives AT ALL.

Thank you both for the references! I'll check out the Keto article, Lynne. We are expecting a rush hour snowfall today, so I'll get to head home early for some reading. Fire/couch/cats! (Doesn't that sound like a kids cartoon?)

Linda, funny, I've been craving hot chocolate, I may look into the MCT powder w/chocolate. Let me know what you think.
Linda, what's your recipe for hot chocolate?

I have rediscovered smoothies for breakfast. Some of the recipe books had some great low carb ones. Very happy to find an am meal so I can give the bacon a rest :-)

I'm still not weighing since I've increased my exercise but I am measuring. Since my fruitless P2 and obstreperous P3, I had gained 1 1/2 inches on my waist and am happy to say after 5 pretty good days of Keto, I'm down 1/2 an inch. I can see it in my face, too.

Lynne, I hope to mimic your experience - drop a few lbs/inches and maintain until I'm safe to start another round. I also need to lower my BMI to a safer range. My cardio tests and blood work came back great from yesterday but I'll feel better when I'm solidly in the normal range, which for me is around 23 or 24.

ok, time to make the donuts! Have a great day everyone!

Happy Tuesday all! Stay warm and dry!

Tracy - I haven't been craving chocolate at all. I do use the chocolate flavored Stevia drops in my morning coffee. 4 or 5 drops. It gives it that chocolaty flavor. I'm afraid making hot chocolate would lead to wanting more and more. I just thought it was funny that people complaining that the MCT powder resulted in a "watery" consistency - just add hwc until it is creamy - ya?

Glad you found new breakfast options and that keto is helping you with inches.

Lynne - stay warm! We're supposed to get another storm Wednesday afternoon and then low snow over the weekend. NOTHING like what you guys are experiencing...

AFM: Did not weigh today. I think I'll jump on the weekly program. Still trying to wrap my head around keto ratios without eating too much. I think around 1300 calories is more realistic than 1700. I just can't eat that much...

Have a great rest of your day!

    Hi Tracy,

For the MCT mix, check out Opportuniteas Dark Chocolate, from Amazon.

I'm not a fan of cold food for breakfast, such as smoothies, but others like protein powder with HWC.

when I use to use a lot of HWc (before switching to almond milk), I could always find brands at Whole Foods without any additives. I would buy 4-5 cartons which were all labeled to expire within a week or so, but as long as I kept them unopened in the coldest part of my fridge, they would still be fresh when I opened them even when 2-3 weeks beyond the expiration date printed on the carton.

Hi Everyone and especially to Tracy! Remember me from 18 months ago? So here I am again... Developed immunity last round (18 months ago) and since then did KETO which I LOVE LOVE LOVE!! BUT....started eating too many keto treats (which led me to crave non keto treats) and over a few months put on 10 lbs. So felt I need a reset. A detox..and that is the beauty of hcg.
Doing hoemeopathic for the first time (Triumph) today was Day 1 and HARD!

About Keto...I read over the posts and want to tell you all that once your body is fat adapted you can eat more carbs without being kicked out of ketosisi AND/Or you can slide back into ketosisi very easily I am 56, do not exercise very much and could eat sometimes 80- grams of carbs and still be in ketosis the next day.. (every once in a while--not daily)

My plan is to do a short round and go rght back to keto. I also want to start doing IF which I haven't made part of my life style ---yet...Very very impt for middle aged women...Check out Dr, Anna Cabecca...amazing info for women and Marcelle Pick also..

Excited to be a part of this group...Have a beautiful day everyone!

Thanks Coco. No Whole Foods nearby either. I might stop by one of their stores in the Bay Area just to see the brands they carry and maybe try to source them elsewhere. I'm also looking into some of the smaller, locally sourced stores around here. Maybe some of them have access to fresh dairy (that would be awesome!).

I did know about the cream staying fresh as long as you don't open the package. Same goes for sour cream and cottage cheese. Thanks!

I also would pick up some 1/2 pint plastic jugs of fresh cream from a weekend farmers market in my area as well. The West Coast US Whole Foods Stores actually had the best brands of pure HWC I'd ever found. It comes in real old fashioned pint glass bottles. The same kind the milkman use to deliver to peoples homes.

Hi BubbleBuddy! So glad you're here. Leez changed our loading thread to an immunity conversation cause I think I got it! :-) I saw your post on the other thread and wow! You've been through it all and you still have that bright spirit. Like Imsaid, so glad you're here!!
And Linda and Lynne are my Keto mavens, so you are in the exact right place. Sorry your day one was tough, as you know, it should get easier.

Linda, how about when I move into my guest room at your new house, I bring my own cow? I've raised one before!

Lynne, my friend, hope you manage this crazy cold weather safely. We are at 11 degrees right now and I am not looking forward to heading out this morning, but I gotta.

WOE is going well. One question though - microwave popcorn? Too corny/carb? I can't find anything definitive on the Internet. I did invent a delicious drink yesterday though. I made bothcranberry and ginger tea, cooled it and mixed it with seltzer and vanilla stevia. It tastes a lot like the Canada Dry sugar free cranberry ginger ale I used to be addicted to when I drank soda many moons ago. A nice break from water and fruit temptations. Now if I can figure out a diet Dr. Pepper recipe...

Stay room temperature today ladies! Cats help :-)

    Happy Wednesday!

Tracy - Fitday says one ounce of microwave popcorn = 116 cal, 74% carbs, 16% fat, 10% protein. Kind of the opposite direction from keto... Your newly invented drink sounds delish

Ummm, bring your own cow? I guess so. We'd have to do some fence mending first... I had seriously been thinking of getting chickens, but now know enough people who have them that I have a pretty steady supply of eggs

Oh, we finished your bathroom! DH is working on hanging the shower curtain, otherwise, all done! Now just our bathroom to finish...

Stay warm ladies and be super careful if you MUST go out!

Replying to myself (it does feel kinda weird). We will be leaving for our super bowl party Saturday morning, so probably not many opportunities to check in over the weekend and early next week.

Had gutters installed on our guest house today. It was really noisy in the house, so I opted to spend a couple of hours outside with a friend of mine, picking up broken tree branches and piling them up before the weeds covered them completely. We got about half of the property done and then both needed a break. We will try to finish next week and then haul the piles to the burn pile in order to get rid of them. I was tired, but not too sore yet. Good thing we stopped after about 2 hours.

Still working on the keto percentages. I tend to go a little high on the protein still, but putting the food into the tracker app before I eat it gives me options to swap things out BEFORE I eat it. I will weigh tomorrow as I know I won't be able to weigh on the road.

I know you guys are still getting kicked by that storm. Hope you're all able to keep warm and safe! We're supposed to have rain and lowering snow levels from tomorrow through Monday. Today they said the snow levels on Monday could be from 1000 to 2000 feet - yikes! DH will be driving home by himself on Monday, so I told him, please humor me and put the snow chains in the truck He laughed, but did it anyway. It would be maddening to need to use chains to get the last quarter of a mile to your house, but, oops, you left them in the garage!

Have a great evening and Friday!

Morning friends! I had one of those moments yesterday where I wrote a post and never posted and it disappeared. Sorry to have left you hanging, Linda...

And I will google snow levels, that's a new term for me!
You must be excited for your super bowl party, 50 pounds lighter! You cannot replicate that feeling, that pride and accomplishment. We all know, even the less successful of us here, how hard this protocol can be. Way to go LinderLou!

I'm so pleased my bathroom is finished, what color palette did I pick?
And you can rest easy, I walked away from the popcorn. We have little bags of "skinney pop" at work and they are not much better. I did splurge and bought a pint of macadamia nuts and when I opened them they were sour. I can't win with the nuts!!!!

It's been cold as beans here for sure, nothing like the Midwest though. And today we'll see a balmy 22!

I'm chugging along with the Keto experiment, not measuring or mathing up yet, just eating sensibly. I've cut out alcohol for the next couple weeks and boy what a difference in my skin and sleep in just five days. I used to call it "no fun February" but that's not the best mindset I don't think. A couple people in my family suffered through alcoholism and/or heavy dependencies and I always worry that I would land there myself. I am my own vigilante I suppose.

And news on the George front, he won't be home until April or May now. His band goes on tour in March. It's bittersweet because I miss him but he sounds really excited about this next step.

And now, completely off topic (although when are we ever? I feel like Leez is going to pop in here and tell us to "get a room.") Anyone know of a decent dream ****ysis book? Asking for a friend...

safe travels Linda! Stay warm Lynne! Bubble - how were days 2 and 3?
