Tracy - I think the hwc will keep beyond the expiration date, as long as I don't open the container (fingers crossed). I'm torn between hoarding it and using it up as quickly as possible

A glass of wine (or two) at the end of the day is my reward too. I usually skip it during P2 but haven't noticed sugar cravings. Maybe because the hcg is doin' it's thing... idk

Milk before bed - yes, you are five years old. I don't think I have had a glass of milk in many decades. Just doesn't taste good to me. Chocolate milk on the other hand... YUM!

Back to logging my food today. Probably going to weigh tomorrow and see how much damage I did on my trip. Drinking lots of water today too

If you put it waaaay back in the fridge where it's super cold, I guarantee that upon opening it will still be good. In the past i've opened cartons and bottles of HWC that were 2-3 weeks beyond expiration, and they were still fresh. Once opened however, they will tend to spoil more quickly, so be sure to use it up in a day or two once it's opened.

Thanks Coco. I put 2 pints in our fridge in the garage, which rarely gets opened. The expry date on all of them is Feb 18, so I'm hoping they last until my next trip on April 1. If not, I do have some Heavy Cream Powder to tide me over

Linda, I never have the sugar cravings in P2 either. I did a 40 day round in the summer of 2017, no alcohol the entire time and it was a breeze. HcG really does suppress the demon foods.

I'm ramping up on exercise this week. My work friend and I will start walking the halls in our building. It's a cavernous government building with looping hallways and after 5pm, it's deserted. She needs a buddy to get started and I need a buddy to hold me accountable. And it's expected be cold, rainy and icy this week so indoors is our best bet.

Quasi Keto the last three days. I had a couple fried oysters and a roll on Friday night. My at home menu has been boring because I'm out of supporting groceries :-) hitting the store this morning.

    I miss Sunday football already!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Woke up to snow this morning again. About 3 inches! Mostly melted now, but a nice treat. Then the internet went down for a couple of hours due to power outages at the provider. Oyve. Back in business now, so all good.

I weighed yesterday and I am about a pound above my window. Not bad with all my travels and Super Bowl party. Been trying to stay keto and have eliminated bread for the time being. I don't really crave it and am happy to eat meat and cheese instead

Tracy - good for you on being an exercise buddy. Great that you can exercise indoors. Walking really is good for you, but time consuming as well.

I miss football too. For now, I'm just hunkering down with the cat and watching snow melt

I saw this on the AARP website today, it was a five ways to lose weight when you're old as f*@k. Along with add protein, lift light weights, sleep and mindful eating - there was also this, interesting what they say about the hypothalamus...
    Try occasional fasting

We’re not talking juice cleanses. Rather, research now shows that a specific type of intermittent fasting, known as fasting-mimicking, can trigger weight loss as well as improve your overall health. People who followed this type of diet plan — where they consumed only 750 to 1,000 calories five days out of each month but otherwise ate normally — lost, on average, six pounds, shed one to two inches of their waistline, and saw both their blood pressure and levels of IGF-1 (a substance linked to increased cancer risk) drop significantly, according to a University of Southern California study published last year.
How might it work? “When you gain weight, the nerves in your hypothalamus that conduct signals from your fat cells to the rest of your brain become damaged,” says Louis Aronne, M.D., director of the Center for Weight Management and Metabolic Clinical Research at Weill Cornell Medical College. “As a result, your brain doesn’t realize that you’re full, so it keeps signaling you to eat.”
But when you take a day to not eat very much, he says, “you’re reducing stress on your hypothalamic nerves, so it gives them time to recuperate.” That day of rest for your nerves could be especially important for older people, he says, because of the damage that oxidative stress can further do to your weight-regulating system.
As for how to start, “I tell patients who want to try it to eat only about 800 calories twice a week, focusing mainly on vegetables, protein and healthy oils such as olive oil,” he says.
To help yourself feel fuller longer on days you’re not fasting, Aronne recommends following a low-carb diet in which about 30 percent of your calories come from protein and the rest from nonstarchy veggies, nuts and beans. Craving bread? “I tell patients that the best time to eat these types of starchy carbohydrates is at the very end of the meal, after they’ve had their veggies and protein,” he says. Aronne’s research shows that people who eat this way not only have lower levels of blood sugar and insulin after eating but also have bigger boosts in hormones like GLP 1, which help keep you feeling fuller for longer.

I think they have been pulling ideas from these forums

Intermittent fasting, low carb, resting your hypothalamus, mindful eating. Dr Simeons was so WAY ahead of his time...

Agree, Linda - Of course they are! I was surprised to read that "one day of rest" or twice a week would have such an impact on the hypothalamus. That sounds a bit hopeful to me. I do understand the benefit of intermittent fasting, I haven't tried it because I like sweetener in my morning coffee or tea and that's at 5 am most days. And of course, that breaks the fast. If I didn't have that, I could easily manage a 15 hour fast every day. I try to eat my evening meal before 5 or 6.
I'm curious to learn more about about the first assumption, I'm going to find that study ...
And now I'm going to read up,again on IF. I know some of the lovely losers have success with it.

Its icy rain here! Been listening to the tree branches crack off :-( I always feel for the birds and critters this time of year.

    Stay toasty!

Tracy, keep in mind that most subjects in these types of studies are currently eating SAD (Standard American Diet) and any change/improvement on that will show a positive impact. Read that as these folks start with eating 100 grams of carbs per day and knocking them down to a lower carb, higher fat diet of any amount of calories is going to help them. Not saying there wouldn't be a benefit to IF or their version of it, just that there are lots of variables involved...

I thought having coffee in the morning with hwc was OK and did not break your fast. Not sure about the sweetener though. I've read that some people are worried about toothpaste too. I will have to research Dr Ken Berry's materials on YouTube again...

We're supposed to get another big storm, Pineapple Express or Atmospheric River, coming through starting at 10pm tonight and lasting a couple of days. Feast or famine! It's either drought or deluge. It will be nice to have the lake fill up this year.

We lost some branches with the snow. Our trees are not used to the extra weight. The branch our bird cat likes to sit on seems to be intact though!

    Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

Linda, Dr. Kens video is exactly where I got the IF sweetener info from. But with HcG, I learned to like my coffee without cream; so I figure I could learn to enjoy my coffee without sweetener. My mom did, she always said the half and half made it sweet enough. But she was super sweet anyway!!

Thank you for reminding me about the baseline of where that study started. I hadn't thought of that. I feel like I'm rummaging around the internet looking for a distraction to get me through these next couple months until I try HcG again. My fear is the creep and if I have a plan, I'm good. If I don't have a plan or accountability, I go six ways to Wichita.
Exercise helps, however I think I may need a second workout buddy. My work friend lives about an hour from our office so she's less inclined to stay after 5 and walk with me :-(

Didn't some really smart lady say "the only thing stopping you is you?" Where she at??? :-)

Interesting about IF being broken by sweetener. During P2, not having cream in my coffee is the hardest part. I would almost rather skip it. I use my little bit of milk instead, but it's just not the same... I use a couple of drops of Stevia (various flavors) to just take the bitterness out too.

Bummer that your walking partner isn't wanting to stay late. I get it though. Hope you find a second person.

I also understand needing to keep the creep at bay. My last couple of rounds I feel like I have been fighting the same 10 pounds. I am at a healthy weight now, but really do want to get the last 20ish pounds off of me. I just don't want that 20 lbs to become 30! I'm kind of planning my next round for June, but may change the timing depending on how busy our summer will be with company. It would probably be a disaster to try to do P2 with weekend guests. We always do potluck, and while I can control and plan MY food, I have no control over what other people bring. In P3/P4 it is easy to work around the carbs, but working around carbs AND fat would be pretty tricky.

Hey smart lady - listen to your own tagline Have a great Wednesday!

still feel real good and enjoying this round...
Had a deep tissue massage today with oils---and hope it won't set me back too much...but I AM NOT WEIGHING MYSELF TO FIND OUT! makes it easier!
    Have a great day
