    Good afternoon, ladies -

Leez, I suspect you are right. I moved fast to down water and charcoal caps in case it was more serious. It certainly wasn't pleasant!

Linda, yes, though I'm not sure the charcoal was essential. For mayonnaise, I always use olive oil; though avocado oil should work just as well. With the garlic olive oil, I think it would be called aioli - would be delicious!

Aioli recipe: see below for mayonnaise:
1 egg yolk, 2 tsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard, 1/4 c olive oil, 1-2 minced and mashed garlic cloves, salt and pepper to taste. Whisk together yolk, lemon juice and mustard; dribble oil in a few drops at a time while whisking. If it separates, stop adding oil, keep whisking until the oil emulsifies, then continue adding oil. Add garlic, salt and pepper, whisk in. Refrigerate. Use within 4 days.

Purists think hand mixing is better - it avoids over-mixing which can cause the aioli or mayonnaise to separate when stored.

For mayonnaise, the Dijon mustard is optional; and omit the garlic.

I love to make mayo with avocado oil. The flavor is completely neutral to me.

Immersion blender is so the way to go. So simple and no drizzling.

For anyone that hasn't used this method before: put egg and other ingredients in bottom of the blending container and float the oil on top. Slowly drop the immersion blades to the bottom without disturbing the oil too much. Start the motor with the blades on the bottom of the container, and process until you see the mayo forming. Once most of the contents emulsify, then slowly bring the blades up and down until it is finished. So easy.

Thanks ladies for the great ideas and recipes. I'm thinking either of your ideas are perfect for replacing my Best foods/Hellmans. I'm sure I will have no problems devouring a batch in 4 days

That all sounds yummy. My immersion blender is in Nashville :-(. I should buy myself one for xmas.

Linda, why no artichoke in P3?

Thank you all for the thoughtful advice. I managed the party well, the catered food was pretty awful, turkey was super dry, I was so glad I brought my own. One of my co-workers made a sugar free root medley with me in mind. It was ass beautiful as it was delicious!

And today I am back down 1.5. Still 1.5 outside my window but I feel more in control.

Leez, I think renaming this thread is a great idea, I am happy to be part of your experiment/research . Just please don't name me Individual #1!!!

Lynne, my way of eating in P4 and real life is full fat, protein of all kinds, fruits are mostly berries and vegetables. If I eat rice it's with sushi. I very rarely eat white potatoes or pasta. The occasionally grain is Ezekiel bread and sometimes oatmeal. I make my own candy, so that is sugar free.

My downfall is not weighing everyday, alcohol and too much cheese I'm sure! And I'm not careful about serving size. Once I notice my clothes aren't fitting, I eventually and grimly hop on the scale and see that 8-10 lb damage is done. Then I plan a round and throw all caution to the wind while I wait for supplies. That's been my MO for the last two years.

My head is in a different space now, especially knowing that this may not be a tool for me again. I will check in here, record my meals and exercise and try again next fall.

This is morning I had tea with half and half and xylitol. Half a chicken thigh and then I went back to bed for a nap. I have a wonderful but highly stressful job and find that I sleep a lot on the weekends. So cortisol levels could factor in. During the week I am in bed by 10 and up between 4-5:30.

If there's anything else you need to know that would be helpful in sorting me out, just ask! I'm chilling at home today, enjoying this rainy day, sure suits my mood! Have a good one!

    Good Saturday morning lovelies!

Tracy - I think Santa has an immersion blender on his list for you. Go for it!
I thought artichokes had too much starch/fiber in them for P3. Leez?
Glad you navigated your party in style! I love it when they say "go ahead and bring a dish to share, if you want". Free license to bring something you can eat (and share, if there is any extra). What a very thoughtful co-worker to make a sugar free dish that you could eat as well. That person deserves special recognition!
Happy that you went to a party and dropped 1.5 in the process. That's GOTTA feel great! And yes, you ARE in control.

Today, I search for my immersion blender. I might even have two, as I think my mother had one as well.

AFM: Down just a bit to 134.6 - not forcing myself into a correction day, but just not overdoing. I'm staying away from the cheese for now in hopes that that helps.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    Good evening, ladies,

Tracy - your diet sounds fine, relatively low carb and goods balance. (I am certainly no expert!) I suggest you make sure you get enough salt - when eating low carb, the body sheds salt more than when you eat higher carbs. Lack of salt is tied to various problems including producing higher cortisol. (Read www.blog.VirtaHealth.com, "Sodium, Nutritional Ketosis and Adrenal Function" in the Science & Research section)

Also - please weigh yourself at least weekly. Dr Simeons points out clothes will still fit if you gain 10 lbs, but it's such a pain to lose weight, why let the dreaded creep into your life?

Linda - still in your window, right? How is the new house? Are you fully moved in?

AFM, my B vitamin incident blew my intentions for correction, so I am still above my window. I'm going to give myself a few days to de-stress, then correct if I still need to.

Actually, I am .5 above my window, but since I was not in control of my food most of this week, I am trying to correct with some "clean" eating and not a correction day. I am kind of following the Fat Fast.

House is ready for shower walls and floor, but our installer is not available until around Jan 1. THEN we need approval by the building department. Meanwhile, I am moving in what I can without furniture. There's lots of built in storage, so I don't think that will hold me up too much.

Hope you are able to quickly recover on getting back in your window.

    Happy Sunday Lovelies!

TESS was kind to me this morning and showed a 0.9 lb drop. Down to 133.7 and back in my window - YAY! Seeing that made my day!

    Have a great day!

(Tried to update my ticker, but the graphic doesn't change. Any ideas?)

That's wonderful, Linda - especially after a travel week!

I'm going to work on correcting mid-week. Wish me luck
