    October 2023 Loaders - Optimists

Welcome October Loaders, this thread's for you!

Use it to plan your round, ask questions, voice concerts, get and give support, or just post for personal accountability.

I'll be monitoring to add my thoughts based on the original protocol.

Everyone who starts an HCG round hopes to succeed, and some of us even EXPECT to succeed...we are the optimists! But not just based on hope, there is a long history of people who have found success with reordering their metabolism through the protocol, which can be explained as HCG hormone therapy.

Wishing you all much success, and even planning on it!

Hello Leez-thank you for all your useful info! I’m p2 day 8. Finally in the swing of it (I’m doing injections) I did HCG about 10 years ago but am back as perimenopause sucks for putting on weight. My dose right now is 125, though the last couple of days I’ve had a little hunger. My weight loss was slow but this morning I was down 7 lbs! (Start weight was 162 after 2lbs gained loading) I’m trying to be super realistic about how much weight comes off but alas, human nature takes over lol! I know all I can do is just stay on protocol. I was eating less meat before I started and now I am not enjoying it much. Yesterday I had a smoothie (I used one that matches the macros) and I had Fage yogurt. I really didn’t want to do dairy but it seems it didn’t stall me! I’m headed to NYC Monday and reminded my partner how much cheaper it will be not having $20 cocktails and dinners out . Thanks for being here for support! It’s helps a lot to pop in and just read. <3 Katie

Welcome back, Katie. Glad to hear your first week has been successful. For slight hunger, it can help to have a hot drink. If hunger becomes much stronger, we can talk about adjusting dose, but doesn't sound like you need that at this point.

I'm not surprised the greek yogurt didn't stall you. There is actually a provision in the protocol that allows some non-fat cottage cheese occasionally if meat aversion sets in.

Wow, it's already October! Hope everyone is doing well and had a good weekend.
Welcome Katie. You're about a week behind me on this P2 round. Wishing much sucess to us both.
AMF: Still in an apparent stall from last week. Weighed in this morning only 0.1 down from last Monday. Kinda disappointing, but I know it happens. Now that I'm tracking my calories (thanks GZ) it seems that I'm taking in about 450ish calories each day. I'm not hungry and sometimes have to remind myself to eat. Bored with the food already, so that doesn't help much... Guess I'll just keep chugging along for the duration and hope that I end up at a lower weight than when I started. I can always do another round after all of the holidays and distractions are over.

On that topic, I also ran into another road bump over the weekend. Our dear friend found out last week that he needs triple bypass surgery. This is scheduled for next week some time. As a result of this, he has been told that after the surgery he has a very restricted list of things that he will be able to do. One of them being, no stairs. Currently, he and his girlfriend live in a two story building about a mile from us. They have asked if they can temporarily move into our ADU, which is a 500sf studio with a full kitchen and bath. We are happy to accomodate them and have no problem with that and are happy to help out. The only problem I forsee is that he is a chef and wants to repay us by cooking for us... His idea, not mine... I guess I'll just take it one day at a time and hope for the best. Right now, my thoughts are mostly on his surgery and that the results get him back to 100%. Fingers crossed!

So, I've got my work cut out for me for the rest of my round. I'm keeping positive thoughts about everything, especially with regards to our friend's surgery!!!

Happy Wednesday Leez and Lou! Leez, I am drinking more hot things and not feeling any hunger. That’s for that! Lou, ahhhh chef in the basement is rough, I would want all the yummy food too! I’ve been in NYC and it was a little bit hard. My partner had a happy hour with work people last night and I attended. I had 2 glasses of champagne *sigh* (and don’t feel awesome this morning). I’m just moving forward because that’s all I can do. I woke up at 5:30 and drank 32 oz of water and had more since, just flushing things out. I have not had a scale here so we will see when I get home! Day 12 today and I’m thinking that I have enough to do a little more than 30 days. Right now I have my last dose as the 23ed. I’m going to Florida for thanksgiving and wanted to be out of p3. I guess I will play by ear! My goal is 130 so I’m sure another round is in order but want to wait until February if possible. It’s just a numbers game! Have a great day!

It's great, LinderLou, that you have the ADU and can help your friends. I hope the chef can understand and accommodate your way of eating. I get a bit tired of explaining my ketogenic way of eating to my relatives when we go out to eat . . . some just don't get that I can't eat pizza.

Hi Katie & GZ, Happy Wednesday!
Katie, sounds like you're working through your trip as best you can. Travel during P2 is tough. Hang in there and just do the best you can. I am also trying to wrap up this round so that I'm in P4 by Thanksgiving. We will be in Georgia with family for the holiday and have no idea what will be on the menu. I'm suspecting I will need to do another round early next year, so will just get through the rest of this year the best I can.

GZ, I am really happy we are able to help our friends out as well. We've know the chef since before I ever went on HCG the first time. He saw my weight loss and is of the mind that "whatever works for you". We have been around these folks for a few years and they've gotten used to my "low-carb" lifestyle, as well as my inability to eat acidic or spicy foods. They've just not really been around during P2... I usually just hibernate so I can lay low and do what I have to do. DH and I don't even have meals together. I'm thinking that I will just keep doing my own meals and if they want to cook for themselves and DH, I'll just hang out with them during the meals and not eat. As long as I have something in my belly (that is on protocol) I tend to be OK, even around temptation. I'm also very happy that we will be around and able to help with any chores or whatever since he will be on a very restricted program.

So, another stall day today. Trying not to get discouraged. Drinking more water today and hoping that helps. I would take a hot bath as Leez suggested, but we don't have a tub, just showers. Hanging in there for now and hoping for a whoosh!

    Take care!

Happy Friday y'all. Hope everyone is doing well.

AFM: Yesterday was another stall day, but this morning, DOWN exactly 1 pound. Thought I was misreading the scale, but it was correct. Wasn't expecting that, as I was busy and away from home all day and didn't get my dinner until after 6pm. Anyway, very happy and ready to see this round through!

Tonight is the Lobster dinner event. We're going with the same couple who will be moving into our ADU so he can recover from his heart surgery. I looked up calories for lobster and hoping they were able to make it without the butter. If so, I think I'll be fine and DH will help me cover up that I'm not eating much. There will be a lot of folks there that we haven't seen for a while (probably since COVID) so it will be nice to visit and catch up.

    Have a good weekend y'all!

Hi y'all. Just wanted to let you know that I survived the Lobster dinner and even dropped a little bit today. The lobster was a whole lobster, boiled. You had to crack it and peel the shell off. I only ate the tail, so think I stayed well under my 500 calories. There was also an undressed salad that I added just a smidge of Ranch dressing to, so did just fine. Happy to see the scale drop this morning. I will go easy on my food today and make sure I stay POP so that there are no after effects.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Glad to hear you got through the dinner successfully. No damages is a great outcome. A bit of loss is a nice little bonus.

Hello! Lou, I hope the lobster was amazing! It sounds delicious. I did make some fish in the air fryer tonight that was so good. I’m at 12 days and have lost just under 10 lbs. I gained this weight I have on very quickly so I’m wondering if it will come off quicker as well. I’m just happy to be ahead of where I thought I would be at this point! I think I was low on calories today. I haven’t really been keeping track so maybe the next few days I will. Mostly just chugging along!
    Have a great weekend!

Hey Katie. Sounds like you're doing great. At 10 lbs, that's just under a pound per day! I should be so lucky... As you say though, this sounds like new weight and maybe it is just ready to come off quickly. YAY you!
Yes, the lobster was delish. I don't get it very often, so that made it even more special. It was also really great to spend time with our friends.

So, today, down again. That's 2 pounds from one week ago. While that doesn't sound like much, it is definately in the right direction, and unlike Katie, this is "old weight". Stuff that just keeps on creeping back after a round... I think 138 is a long term setpoint for me, and according to the BMI charts is still within the "normal" range - albeit, the upper part of that range. At this stage of my life, my goal is to create a new setpoint around 125-130 and not have to struggle to stay there. I'll just keep working at it...
On another positive note, after my happy weigh in this morning, I decided to try on a pair of jeans that I'd been wearing a few months ago that were pretty snug. They are BAGGY now! Sometimes, that's more exciting than the number on the scale! I have a couple of other pairs of pants that I bought towards the end of my last round that never reallly fit comfortably. I will try those on in another week or so and pack away the baggy jeans so that I'm not tempted to let things slide. We're talking size 8 and 6 jeans. I'd be happy to just get rid of all of the size 8s at some point. For now they're going in the basement!

Have a great Sunday everyone. I plan to watch some football today and cheer on the Niner's.
