The Trader Joes one uses sunflower oil, the Amazon Wicked brand used palm oil. I think the palm oil is a healthier choice, but both are ok. So is coconut oil.

If you think about it, bananas are fine for P3, so it makes sense that plantains could be an option.
Thx for info. From what i read bananas are a caution fruit in P3 so tho might be allowed i do not eat often in p4 and plantain chips i have noticed easy gains even in p4. So good to know but think i will wait. I have never had isdues in p3 with peanuts so i do eat them in moderation. Appreciate ur wisdom

Day 17 P3. No weigh today but pretty sure no change. I have been stable between 144.4 and 145.4. Headed back early to Texas due to BIL death. He was positive for covid. He was vaxxed but underlying diabetes and high blood pressure not well controlled and he did not take meds prescribed for covid and did not tell family members and refused hospitalization. Now 93 year old mil tested positive do tho she is asymptomatic she is under quarantine and taking antiviral meds as precaution.

o rose, you have had so much loss to deal with all at once. You are on my heart and in my prayers, sweet lady.

I'm hearing more and more about vaxxed people dying from the virus. Its so sad.

Deanna, best of luck on your round!!

Rose, I am so sorry about your brother in law and I pray your MIL is going to be fine. Such a scary illness. My mom (88 years old today) won't get the vaccine since she has a lot of under lying conditions and is immune compromised. I wish she would even just get one dose, but she has talked to her doctor about it and even her doctor says it could be an issue for her but still thinks it's worth the risk, but she is a stubborn german lady and her view is if it's her time to go, then it's her time to go. Uggg... so frustrating! But there is no use arguing with her, unfortunatley.

Dubbs, hopefully the scale went the right direction for you today!! I know how an uptick can be worrisome but it always happens to me in P2, always.... I am sure the scale will start to move in the right direction soon.

Mrsstrong, I probably shouldn't have weighed in today... being that I had a lot of food and also beverages, some big no no's like ribs with bbq sauce, a few of these chocolate covered coconut almonds (Omg...so good), some chips and salsa... a very small helping of homemade potatoe salad and one bite of a confetti cupcake!! Yeah... I find that once I have a couple of drinks in me... all of my self control goes right out the window!! Pretty much what not to do in P3!! All I can say is today is a new day and "Onward" as Pearly says...

So.. as for me, I was up 1.1# today. I guess it could have been much worse and hopefully it won't spill over in to tomorrows weight! This puts me at just .3 pounds away from that dreaded 2# overage! Today will be filled with plenty of water and food that is P3 friendly!! And no adult beverages!!

    Have a good day all!!

I make coconut oil candy with peanuts in it if I want something rich and chocolate. Chocolate avocado pudding is pretty yummy too. Big dinner salads with an olive oil vinegrette is a staple. I load it up with a grilled protein and favorite fixings. I use roasted plantain chips as dippers for guacamole or baba ganoush (eggplant tahini dip), or with tuna salad.

I usually add cream in my coffee the first day and a bit more dairy ( like the soft cheeses) after the first few days..... Nuts and such once the first weeks scale roller coaster has calmed down.
Would you mind giving some examples of meats/veggies you like to do in the air fryer? I have an air fryer but never use it because Iím never sure what to do in it.

I make a coating with nutritional yeast & parmesan seasoned with italian spices, parsley and a little paprika. You can use that to to coat any meat or veggie after you've brushed with olive oil or butter. You have to experiment with times, but usually about 10 min on high or sometimes 20 min on medium works better if pieces are bigger. I use it coat wings, tenders, fish, zucchini, mushrooms--pretty much any P3 veggie you like. Heres a basic recipe:

If you are avoiding dairy in P3, just use all nutritional yeast instead of the parmesan. (Or part nutritional yeast and some oat fiber also works.)

Also you can just air fry anything coated with olive oil, salt and pepper and its really yummy.

Sausages or weinies don't need any coating...they get beautifully charred just on their own.

You can cook things that require different times together. For instance when I do sweet potato fries and a protein, I start the sweet potato fries on medium for about 12-14 minutes, then turn to high, add the protein and cook another 8-10 minutes. The protein gets done without drying out, and the taters crisp up a bit better.

Thanks Leez! This looks delish. I am definitely trying it. I ordered some nutritional yeast. I think I have some oat fiber. Im thinking boneless chicken thighs would be great. Do you air fry your meat and veggies together at the same time?

Hi and thanks for those tips Leez!

I had a heck of a time getting on here today for some reason. It would not let me get on the forums. So today is P3D12 for me and, the weekend and Labor Day shenanigans finally caught up with me. I am .8 over the 2# threshold so I am attempting a steak day, however, for some reason I thought we could drink coffee with hwc, but once I got on these forums, I found out that you are only allowed P2 type drinks all day until you eat a steak and either an apple or raw tomatoe for dinner...so, I have already blown that by having 2 cups of coffee with hwc. I am not really starving yet, (probably thanks to the cream) which is odd for me. I have never done a steak day because I just can't go all day without eating....but here I am, trying to see if I can do it today to get back those pounds that I have gained!! My stomache is getting a little growly right now but I am just drinking water hoping that will trick my tummy into feeling like there is something in it.

I have to do some running around so at least I won't be tempted to dive into the fridge. Hope y'all are doing well!!
