Seems pretty quiet around here... That's OK. Mostly posting to keep myself accountable. Not such a big drop this morning, but I know it kind of fluctuates, so nothing to worry about. Will post a first week total on Monday. Hoping to average a half pound a day overall, but being realistic that I usually don't do quite that well.

OK, back to my weekend chores... at least it keeps me busy and my mind off eating.

Yes it is quiet but I try to post every couple of days for myself Even tho I am p4 I’m staying 2-3 lbs over LIW and not in mood for steak day. Never in 10 rounds or so have I ever done one.

Hey Rose (waving). Good to hear that you're stabilizing, even though it might be a bit higher than you'd like. I've never done a "steak day" either as I don't believe in drastic measures - other than hcg... I know some consider it drastic, but I'm a believer :-) In fact, I recently shared the hcg protocol with a dear friend of ours who is Very much in need of losing at least 150 lbs. She flat out asked me how I managed to drop 50 lbs 7 years ago, so I reluctantly told her about hcg, Dr Simeons, etc and swore her to secrecy. I specifically told her to find a reliable source of hcg in her area (she lives 100+ miles from us) and told her she had to follow the protocol exactly to achieve success. Told her to contact me for support if necessary. I heard nothing from her about it. A few months ago, they come for a visit again and when we have a "girl's moment", I ask her if she tried it and how it went. She said she tried it for a couple of weeks, but could just not sustain the 500 calories per day as she was starving to death! To me, it sounded like she had not gotten "real" hcg or even homeopathic, but we didn't have an opportunity to discuss it further. I feel bad that it didn't work for her, as she so desparately needs to drop some lbs because her knees are shot. Doctors won't operate and just tell her to drop some weight to take the pressure off. Anyway, sad story... Apparently she thinks the only way she will ever be able to lose weight is with bariatric surgery. Again, so sad...

Anyway, AFM, still chugging along. Starting to miss P3 foods, but determined to stick with it as the scale continues to reward me every morning. Sometimes, after weighing in, I just wish the day was over, I could take my last dose of pellets and go to bed so that the next morning (and lower number on the scale) would be here sooner. Not realistic, I know, but that's how my brain works sometimes :-)

OK, off to watch some football!

LinderLou, that is tough for your friend. Some people can't do the mental part of the diet, they are convinced they will starve. I did my first round under doctor's supervision, or I might not have stuck with it either.

Good luck with your own round.

Linderlou, I feel so bad for your friend. I remember those feelings of hopelessness that anything could ever work for me.

Like you mention, she may have had a fake product, or just needed a simple dose adjustment that we could have helped her with. But I doubt she would consider trying it again. My husband had success on his first round, but for the second, he was hungry the whole time and that was before I found this forum and learned about dose adjustment. Even though I assured him later that it would be different, he would not try it again.

Hi GZ - very tough for her. Unfortunately she and we live in very rural areas and I doubt that there are any weight loss clinics or doctors that support the protocol within a reasonable distance to her. I couldn't find any near me when I first started this journey. I'm hoping to find time to have a more in depth conversation with her at some point and get her pointed in the right direction, including helping her pay for the hcg if that's what needs to happen. I also think that getting her connected to this forum would help her with the support she needs to get through her first round and do it properly.

Hi Leez - yes, I feel really bad for her too. She is currently morbidly obese and pretty much physically unable to do more than sit on the couch - all day. She is in her 60's and we have known her for 30+ years. Her DH (who we have known for 40+ yrs) is actually in worse shape than her. T2D and on insulin. He is probably around 400 lbs and does not have a clue about carbs/protein/fat and what is good for you and what is not. I was so hoping this would work for her and then she could share with her DH and help get his weight down too... Oh well, I will give it one more go next time we see them. I will have a printed list for her this time. (Last time, she caught me by surprise!) I will give her this website, a recommendation to read the original manuscript (she has the time...) and give her a list of where to buy hcg locally and online. Hoping she gives it another shot and follows through this time. When we get together, we usually have a meal or two (like, over a weekend) and it is really sad to see the choices of what they eat, and then the QUANTITY! I couldn't eat that much food in one sitting if my life depended on it! Anyway, I'll work on getting an educational package together for her.

Interesting that your DH gave up on hcg. With you as a success story and coach, I would think he would give it another shot (ha ha). To each his own, I guess... I am fortunate in that my DH has never, ever had to watch his weight and doesn't seem to gain an ounce, no matter what he eats. He would have no clue how to count calories or anything like that, so I hope his metabolism stays just as it is, even though I am insanely jealous. The good news is that even though he can't relate, he is very supportive of my struggle to lose and maintain my weight. I'm sure he would much rather have a slim wife than a fat one, so it is kind of selfish for him, in a way. He has been fine with us eating separate meals so that I can avoid forbidden foods. He was also my biggest cheerleader during my initial weight loss of 50 lbs. He's been know to tell people who complain about their struggle to lose weight that they should talk to me :-) He is very proud of me that I did lose all that weight and have kept if off for the most part.

OK, I promised a week 1 update. So, today is P2D8 and weigh-in this morning was 138.7. So, with a SW of 142.3, that's a 3.6 lb loss. Not bad... I am actually very pleased. I have had really no hunger to speak of, but just trying to get through some "snack attacks". Hoping to keep up this pace and perhaps get to my goal of 125 by the end of the round.

OK, so I planned this round around not having any special events scheduled until the end of October. Yes, both my and DH's birthdays are in October, but we have no big celebration plans, so should be able to avoid temptation on those days. HOWEVER, now I am faced with how to deal with THIS situation. Our friends just informed me that they have purchased tickets to a charity event next Friday evening, which is P2D19. It is a whole Lobster dinner with sweet corn, garlic bread, salad and dessert. I don't have a problem with not eating the side dishes and am usually able to covertly transfer at least some of it to DH's plate, so it doesn't look like I haven't eaten any of it. My question is, I know that lobster is on the original protocol food list, but how do I determine how much is 3.5 oz without my trusty scale? Another option is that if I skip all of my protein that day, can I eat two portions worth without messing things up? I'm planning to eat at least one portion of fruit and veggies earlier in the day so I'm not starving by the time we have dinner. I absolutely Love lobster! I know I can't have it with butter, which will be difficult, but doable. I have no idea how they will be preparing it, but suspect that they may baste it with butter/garlic/lemon. Not a great situation. I am allergic to lemon (and my friends know this), so I'm thinking that I could request that they cook my portion without butter/lemon and hope they are able to accomodate this. If not, I could just eat a little bit and take the rest of it home for DH to eat later.

What do you think? Any ideas? I would totally bow out of the situation, but the tickets are $50 a piece and our friends have already paid and this is a really special occaision for them...

    Any suggestions are appreciated. TIA

Technically, you cannot eat both protein portions at the same meal on the 500 calorie menu. But some have done it. I think it even has a name: mini steak day. You only eat one meal that day and pair the double protein with a tomato or apple. But this is not on protocol.

You'll have to decide if you want to go outside the protocol or not.

Thanks Leez. Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but good advise. It is still a couple of weeks away, so I think I will just keep on doing what I've been doing and decide how to handle it when the time comes. My tolerance for food volume is already pretty small, so I probably won't raise any eyebrows by taking most of it home in a doggie bag. I WILL make sure I contact someone in charge of the event to see if I can be served a special portion without butter and lemon. It's a legitimate thing as citrus causes me to get ulcers in my mouth and on my tongue especially. Hoping they can accomodate me on that one...

It's a bit early for a PI, but that might be an option too.

Hi GZ! Thanks for the suggestion. I just read back up on a PI and think I don't want to give up 5 days for one dinner. I think I will just try to muddle through and hope for the best. These are just the bumps in the road we have to navigate! There will be a Lobster dinner another day... Will keep you posted on how I do.

I get that, LinderLou! In my last round, I was a week or so into P3 when I traveled back to Michigan for a family reunion. Between the dusruption of ridiculously early departure, the air travel, motel, party food, and wine, I re-gained. I decided to treat my trip as a PI and resumed my round for two weeks. I lost the inflammation weight, and have since stabilized well, but learned a lesson.
