Thread: an experiment of sorts - A super short round

  1. #61
Down again. This morning at 211.7. Still more to go to LDW but that is 3 days in a row loss over a pound. Last round had a similar situation after the first full weekend. Big jump in weight followed by some good losses. But it seems that the jump might have been bigger and the slide back has been just a hair slower. But either way, the mechanisms seem to be the same. A Big jump and a correction back to the LDW. Another difference is that this is my first time down as low as this, where the last round I was around the same LDW 3 rounds in a row so my body was probably a little more comfortable there. It stands to reason that I am going to have to work harder to keep my body at this new low weight so need to be mindful of that. But that aside, it is good to see consecutive days of loss.

Tennis last night. Was great to get on the court. Tennis again tonight so very happy with that. 3 day weekend coming up so need to be careful with what I eat and make sure I don't overdo it.

Way to go Jeff! Slow and steady, maybe will be easier to stablize then at the 210 you wanted. Main thing is, you arent just giving up! Worked too hard to do that for sure Good for you. Holiday weekends can be challenging, but I'm pretty sure you will do fine. Your mental outlooks seems fine, especially as you know it is a process and mornings of fluctuations. It happens to everyone, just everyone doesn't weigh everyday. Enjoy being back on tennis courts.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes I am grinding this one out for sure.

The one good thing about the steak day was it kind of gave me a mental reset. I didn’t really like my state of mind last week and feel much more in tune right now.

Either way my efforts can be controlled but the results will be what they are and I am ok with that

Yes, I find the “mental reset” of a steak day to be very helpful for me.

Down .7lbs to 211 this morning. That is very encouraging that my weight keeps falling towards the LDW. But we are up on a weekend so need to really be careful. Really have a good recipe for marinated grilled shrimp that I will dust off tomorrow. Basically tomato sauce, avocado oil, red wine vinegar, fresh herbs and garlic. Very good and compliments the shrimp very well. Great with an avocado/tomato salad. Plenty of tennis planned so will be busy and on my feet.

Heh Jeff, haven't read any posts from you lately, wondering how it is going? Don't mean to be nosey, just curious I'm in p3 now, went up a pound yesterday--but still under last dose weight. Wondering if it gets easier. If you don't want to post, that is ok, or you can send private message if you don't want to update, or do nothing. Just wondering how you and wife are doing.

not doing so well. Crazy weekend. Too much wine but was very tame on food to be honest. But went up 6lbs in 3 days. Scale going back down as it normally does during the week. Very discouraged at how easily and how much I gain weight on weekends. I am really not looking for reasons and explanations. Just keep on trying different things on weekends to avoid the big jumps. Very busy at work and managing tennis teams so haven't been able to post much here

Main thing is you are aware, so I feel you will get it figured out. I know when I am drinking a lot I don't pay as much attention to what I am eating, and tend to eat more than I would like. And sometimes, Jeff, I think we strive to get to a number on the scale that is really difficult for our body's metabolism to maintain, or even our lifestyle. For me, that's why I have given up trying to weigh what I did at 35-40. I could prob get there, but it would be a constant struggle and the only person who would notice those 10-15 lbs is me. Oh, people might see that much, but I really wouldn't look that much better, maybe even a little more haggard. I think we need to settle on what we can reasonably maintain. Take care, just was wondering how you were doing.

thanks for the kind words and encouragement. Could be a lot of things at play. One big factor is that while drinking a lot of wine on weekends, I am drinking less water for sure. But as food goes, I really didn't eat that much this weekend. I did snack on some mixed nuts, which can cause slight gains, but it never has been an issue in the past. And I would have to eat a lot of nuts to nudge the scale. Most likely, and as I have pointed out in the past, it is not one factor to blame, but many. Decided to not do a steak day this week but am skipping breakfast for there is some intermittent fasting going on nonetheless.

I am staying the course but am a bit frustrated with the volatility. Maybe things will settle down. Or maybe this is a direct result of such a short round.

I agree! Everything is good in moderation. Starving yourself is not an option. It is better to revise your nutritional system radically and then there will be no extra pounds or digestive problems.

You may never know for sure unless you can test the test but either way, a proper round may be the only way to reset things in a more stable way.
