    My Journey

Hello, I wanted a place to post my results and get feedback.

I am a 45 year old male living in Calgary Alberta Canada, I am 5'7, and I work at a job that has me sitting most of the day.
This is my fourth go at HCG. It worked the previous 3 times like a charm. My issue is not loosing the weight it is keeping it off when this is all said and done.

1st time: Back in 2011 - Lost 20.4 pounds, kept it off for 11 months
2nd time: Back in 2013 - Lost 20.6 pounds, kept it off for 8 months
3rd time: Back in 2014 - Lost 23.3 pounds, kept it off for 9 months
I did the 40 day HCG each of these times.

Currently I am doing the 23 day (25 with loading). It is a shorter period and I am hoping to lose "close" to the same amount. Anything over 15 pounds I will be happy but I am still aiming for 20. Why do I think I can go less time and lose as much? Discipline, I am going to try harder this time to maintain after I lose the weight and I think I have a good support system at home to help me which is something I never had in the past.

I am an extremely picky eater so I have a very limited menu to choose from and often will eat the same meals day after day. Chicken, Shrimp, extra lean Hamburger and steak with radish, celery or cucumber is pretty much all I am eating 7 days a week.

    PHASE 1
    Day 1 - 188.1 (loading)
Day 2 - 185.9 (loading) Not sure why I dropped here, I ate a BUNCH of food and all fatty foods as well.

I'm not male, but I'll reply. It looks like things are going really well for you. It seems like you have P2 figured out, but this time the challenge will be to keep the weight off. In P4, remember to weigh yourself every day and do a correction day anytime you go over that 2 lb window. If you don't let it get past 2 lbs, you won't need to do a whole round. Of course, that's easier said than done. Sometimes you go over 2 lbs and just can't seem to force yourself to correct until it is too late.

And realistically, those of us with chronic weight problems may not easily keep it off forever. You may find yourself doing a short round every couple years. I'd also recommend you read some of Leez's posts about everything she's learned about keeping weight off. She's tried quite a few methods and learned from each of them what works best for her body.

Keep up the great work this round and let us all know how it's going or if you have any questions or want any support.

Thanks Jmmrr...... I will keep posting.....

I wanted to add, I only drink 2 liters of water per day... 24oz before lunch, 24oz in the afternoon and 24oz when I get home from work...... Not sure if I should be drinking more or not.

The original protocol says 2 litres. I think some diet clinics are telling people to drink a gallon or more and that usually is a pretty bad idea.

    ARG!!!

Gained today after a 1 pound loss yesterday.
I did not cheat, I ate what I always eat, there is no reason I can think of that would have caused this.

    Doing an apple day today.

It's not unusual to have a gain once in a while in P2. It's always about water levels. The is no logic that you can actually gain actual weight while in P2. A weight fluctuation upward is generally water retention or a scale anomaly. If you get a huge gain of pounds, the culprit is usually that your scale needs new batteries, or you possibly have some inflammation from an illness or allergy.

Apple days are only for stalls lasting longer than 4 days, not to counter a one day uptick. And even then, it only temporarily drops some water. Some don't realize that you can't drink anything on an apple day--your only moisture comes from the apples. It is hard to do an apple day because of the liquids restriction. P2 is already hard. Why make it needlessly harder?

In my opinion, apple days are worthless in the long run. It is an unnecessary punishment that puts more stress on your body which is already working hard because of the HCG. Even Dr. Simeons said the benefit is only psychological.

This is not my first time doing HCG and I disagree that apple days are worthless, in fact they are very helpful.

However I agree that a one day gain of 0.3 might not need an apple day... I will do a normal day today and see what tomorrow brings. If tomorrow is another gain, of any amount, I will do an apple day to reverse that course and get back on track.

Getting tired of this, that is 3 stalls and 1 backwards weight gain..... I am only doing a 23 day stint so 4 days of no progress is hard to take......

Still going strong.... I want to complain because I could be further along without the stalls (and one day I even gained weight) but I am 20 days in and down 15.6 pounds...... It is hard to complain about that.

The other times I did this I did 40 day sessions and it took me 30 days plus to get to where I am right now. But I cheated on those diets. I ALWAYS went to the store and found the healthiest version of cheat food I could, but it was a cheat all the same. I can honestly say I have not cheated once on this, not even a little and I feel good about that. I am also impressed with the will power I have to have done it.

I will be done the injections in 2 days and the 500 cal part of this in 5 days..... I am looking forward to phase 3 and eating normal sized portions (still while following the diet) and then it is a matter of completing that successfully and having a healthier lifestyle in the end.

    Excellent result! Congrats.

You don't have to continue to follow the diet menus once in P3. There is nothing in the protocol that suggests this is a good idea. Even with increased portions, you can mess up your stabilization by omitting fat in P3. Fat is important to the success of P3, as is increasing your calories to normal levels as soon as possible.

If you are interested, I have a blog post that gives some guidelines for a successful P3.

I just had a read of your posting..... Interesting as the last few times I did this I just continued the same diet (and foods) and just ate more of them to get a higher calorie count..... I also each time in the past bumped the calories after 48 hours not 72.

    A few questions:

    1) You did not list any examples of foods, or amounts or anything to measure by.... For those of us that have not heard of this way of doing it where do we start? Where can we look to for idea's on meals and such?
    2) It has been over 3 years since I last did this. Tomorrow is my last injection, so is tomorrow my final weight? Or do I use the weight at the end of the 72 hours following it?
    3) Can I expect to lose the last 72 ours as well and then start maintaining that weight? Or do I maintain my weight tomorrow?
    4) Am I introducing your idea of "healthy fats" and "eating to satisfaction" starting day 4, or gradually?

    Appreciate your help.....
