Male, 34, loving the diet so far!

Howdy all. I’m on my first HCG diet ever and wanted to share my progress so far and what I am finding really helpful. Also I am very open to any feedback, if you have any.

    Me:

Heaviest weight ever was 250lb. Divorce and alcohol got the better of me so I blew up big time. I managed to get myself back down to 231 before starting the diet.

    Ph 1:

Wow - I haven’t eaten this much in such a long time. I could only manage 3300 calories both days, including a bottle of wine for some extra calories and sanity.

I do enjoy a drink so this so far has been the biggest challenge to give up.

    Ph 2:

I am 19 days in and I have lost 16lbs. I’m really really happy! Giving up alcohol has been the biggest struggle but I’ve done it.

    Question:

I’ve noticed that in the last 7 days I have only lost 0.5lb each day. I was fluctuating between 1-2lb easy and now it’s tapered off. Why is this?

hi tappauser, and welcome to the forums.

I'm happy to hear your round is going well.

Its common to have your best daily losses in the first week or so of the diet. But what matters is the average daily loss at the end. Women can expect to lost about a half pound a day, men usually lose about 1 pound a day. What is happening is that your days with the bigger losses are being balanced by days with lower losses to get your average loss.

As long as you are losing steadily, you are doing fine. It will all even out in the end. Losses may pick up or wane as you go through the days. Its all about how your body is dealing with your water stores. As the fat cells empty, they refill with water for a time before they collapse. When that happens, the actual fat loss will show up on the scale. Changes in daily loss rates are all about that process.

Are you counting the loss from your loading days as part of the 16 pounds? That is part of the number that gives the daily average.

If you are counting the loss from loading, then your number is a little under what most men experience, but still within normal loss range.

    Hi Tappauser!

I'm excited to read about your journey. I'm similar to you in the fact that I too enjoy a drink. I found my losses really ramped after day 23 for the final lap. Keep us updated and good luck Male, 34, loving the diet so far!

Thanks all for the replies. I’ve counted the loss from day 3, so essentially after the first day of VLCD.

My entire body has changed shape, and I’ve found that My gym performance hasn’t suffered so perhaps I may have put on some muscle? I don’t expect this to be true but I’ve gauged clothes that I was wearing a few weeks ago and they are all loose on me now.

Fantastic to hear that after 23 days was better for you! Accordingly to my program I still have 10 days of HCG left, which, I’m feeling like I want to keep going! I was really hoping to lose 20lbs but the number isn’t important. I’m sort of an all in or out person and while we are experience lockdowns I really feel that I want to keep going.

Perhaps for the first cycle I should just do the 27 days and call it a day?

170-180mcg (180 being the better) is excellent and removing hunger and I drink 3L + a day.

I also found that eating spinach leaves is great for reducing hunger. A 70g serving has maybe 2-3G of protein and is a lot to eat!

Giving up Alcohol was really hard. I was craving a beer or wine for the first week but found that after a while the cravings stopped. I think this might have been also due to carb elimination and I was probably drinking a bit too much anyway.. I’ve become really productive now, reading a lot and getting more done. Being in lockdown has also surprisingly reduced my stress levels so I haven’t felt the need to self medicate Male, 34, loving the diet so far!

hey tappauser, for some reason your posts are being automatically moderated and I've been having to approve them. This usually is because a new member posts links in their first post but that is not the case with you. I'll investigate and see if I can figure out what is happening. Its strange, because even Gastro's post was hidden today.
