Thread: The Official Man Cave

Hey boys...I have done 3 rounds of this diet and have had amazing results. My husband is now considering doing a round. So I guess I am just looking for info geared towards men. I know that hcg is naturally produced by preggo women, so it seems natural that it works so well for us. I was wondering how the same goes for men, I assume men don't naturally make that hormone...so is it like women you are not hungry as long as you have a correct dose? What is a good starting dose for men? I know I did 3 rounds at 150 units with no issues. Does it affect any of your manly "mechanisms"? I did read online that it could boost testosterone levels...any truth to that? Is there any harm that it can do to men, in the long run? Any experiences or info would be great. Just wanna make sure the weight loss is worth it without any hidden possible issues it could cause....
In order to find myself again, I must lose a little of myself in the process

I think it works better for men because of testosterone boosting effects. it worked OK for me. lately, i switched to oral medications when i got tired of injections. yes, i had low testosterone levels.

...interested in your testosterone results as it is one of the main concerns/goals I have with my doctor. He mentioned this HCG diet will help with that but did not specify how. He wants me to lose weight and monitor all levels.

My doctor feels this will be a good boost to my testosterone level....as well as helping me balance others. Will make I post results of lab test but also looking forward to feedback from other guys in regards to this. I am just starting and I am on my first day of the VLCD.

"I 'm only 5'9 with a fairly small frame and a BIG belly!"

-Just thought you might want to look into symptoms of a fatty liver. From the brief description, I would say that you are a prime candidate. I might suggest that you start doing some research on Liver flushes...particularly a book written by Andreas Moritz, "The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush." I have done one round of the HCG diet and wished I had taken care of my liver. Not that I had bad side effects but the way I reason it is if I have a fatty liver, and I'm flushing all this fat out of my system, what organ is doing the filtering? Yup, my liver. So it's not only filled with fatty cholesterol gallstones, but I might have added to the issue. Anyways, right now I'm sitting at 222 lbs and while I still have more to lose, I'm going to work on getting my liver clean first before continuing with another round. Who knows, maybe if I can get my liver working at optimum capacity the weight issue will take care of itself. Anyways, this goes for anyone that has a protruding belly. Classic symptom of a fatty liver. Research it.

I didn't have any hunger issues...although initially, maybe the first two days I had a slight headache. I must admit that I was not hungry throughout the protocol although there where a couple of times that I was craving carbs. I would say that I cheated two days, but in reality there is no way you can cheat because the scale doesn't lie. Cheating would imply that you got away with it, but if you cheat on a diet and see a two pound gain the next day...well, wasn't much of a cheat imo. Anyways, my dosage was at ~180 after moving around a bit to try and find the right dosage. As for affecting manly "mechanisms," no...it did not affect anything that I am aware of. I did a lot of reading prior to doing the protocol and did not find any negative side effects for men...aside from having to spend money on a new wardrobe if you didn't keep all that clothes that used to fit you a decade back.

    I'm back!

I was planning on doing round of HCg in February but ended up with a very nasty flu and backed out of p2 rapidly. Disappointing.
Thanks for the info on "fatty liver" I will look it up!

Just finished loading and today is day 1 for me. I have emptied my fridge and cupboards, the only offending foods that remain are cottage cheese and some sauces. I gave a bunch of foods ( cheeses, etc) to my staff which they gorged on at lunch while I watched. I had no particular interest in what they were eating. Ha! I can barely walk from my loading days. Gained 3.3 lbs. I've learned that it is the fats that are important to consume during loading. Sugars/Cabs/Starches will just give you withdrawal headaches as you adapt during the first week of P2.

This round ( Planned 42 days) I am using HuCOG brand of injections as prescribed by my Dr. I use 150IU. We can only get 10,000IU Vials in Canada and it is quite expensive at about $160. I am usually quite strict with foods but as I've mentioned I do not consume grisinni or melba toast and tend to prefer not to eat a lot of the allowed fruits as I am quite sensitive to sugars. Probably have grapefruit twice a week. I supplement with electrolytes potassium, magnesium and sodium mixture. It prevents weakness and feeling shaky for me.

    Goals:
    1. Stay on plan with foods
    2. Eat once/day ( my preference actually)
    3. Walk and or Stretch 45 minutes 6 days/week.
    4. Drink enough water
    5. Release 35lbs in 42 days (ideally) 45lbs in 60 days (very unlikely)
    6. Try to eliminate coffee
    7. Go to bed on time and SLEEP. I stall completely if I do not get enough sleep.

After 42 days I will reassess.

I am "slightly" rogue in that:
    (A) I sometimes have a vodka with soda if I go out with friends ( HCG hangovers are DEADLY!! Like 2 days in bed crying hangovers 1 or 2 drinks and you'll be good....very easy to get inebriated on a low cal diet.
    (B) May consider pushing to 60 days. (I remix at 30 days)
    (C) Sometimes just eat my allowed calories in approved meat ( works well for me)
    (D) Would very likely only do 2 weeks of P3 and then hit P2 again for 30 days AND stay in P3 for quite a while.

Well, that's my pan in a nutshell!

    Hi Cureus

If I may make a few suggestions, with the understanding I don't know your exact program...
    - eating twice a day may slow your metabolism and make you more hungry, I'd really do twice a day and the 2 fruits
    - Watch for too much exercise, could trigger starvation mode, I'd keep walks under 30 min
    - I couldn't go without coffee, if nothing else it's "something" to drink besides water and tea
    - Drinking on HCG...Gutsy move mav, but if you can get away with it :-)

    Good luck!
