    My Story

I've done the hcg diet several times always gained back, but this time I'm going to try to stick with it. Today is Day 20, I've lost 19 lbs so far. I started at 186.6 lbs. I'm retired, on a very small income so I took every steps to lower costs. I also simplified my eating plan. I purchased a 5.5 lb jug of Muscletech Nitro Gold from Bodybuilding.com, cost about $43. They have specials on this product all the time. There are 76 servings to the jug, 3 servings a day for 23 days, 1 jug covers it. It has 24 grams of protein per serving and only 120 Calories per serving. I also ate 2 juice oranges a day, but a few days ago I started eating only 1 a day, when I hit a stall.

For exercise, I walk every day. I'm retired, so have the whole day to do as I will. I started out walking 2 or 3 times a day, for 45 minutes each time. But since stalling, I went to 4-45minute walks a day, and it sure works. Since I dropped the orange and increased the walks, for the last 3 days, I've lost 1.6, 1.8, and 1 lb even. I wish I would have started from the first doing this, I think I might have lost 30 lbs. I've got 6 more days left, hoping to lose a lb a day and finish at 162lbs,
That would be incredible and hopefully will motivate me to stay at that weight.

The only other things I trake are sublingual B-12 lozenges, folic acid. I also take 1 or 2 5 gram scoops of lemon flavored l-arginine from Swanson Foods. I also take Yohimbre for energy. I also take theomine, for calmness. Taurine, 1 1/2 gram twice daily. And 3 grams of l=trytophan at night to help me sleep. I don't get a lot of sleep on the diet, but I lay down and sometimes dose during the day.

So I'm hoping for success, and can''t wait for day 26, I'm going to Golden Corral and show them how a true carnivore behaves. Meat, meat, more meat, cottage cheese, olives, cheese. YEAH

By the way, I'm 66, weighed 151 lbs when I graduated as Florida State Champion in the half-mile in 1969.

Hello Elvin, it's so great to have a guy posting here! Men are usually so quiet, but every once in a while we get a man's experience and it's always interesting.

it looks like you are doing well and working REALLY hard! One thing I want to suggest, is reading as much as you can, about Phase 3 and Phase 4 guidelines. These are designed to keep you from regaining the weight you lost and are essential to the protocol. As nice as it is to have a friendly new face in these forums, I would hate to see you back for another round.

Phase 3: Essential phase for stabilizing your weight. Read this in detail here: Phase 3, Stabilize and Transition

As much as I hate to say this, Golden Corral on day 26, is probably not the best idea, especially if you have had challenges keeping the weight off in the past. Ideally, you want to continue with the original protocol's list of allowed Hcg Diet foods, while increasing calories and slowly introduce other foods one at a time. It is very important that you stabilize your weight loss in this manner. You can read more about this here: Hcg Diet Phase 3 - How to Stabilize

In addition, it is also very important to change your eating habits for the long haul. Again, the guidelines you followed in the original protocol, including food portions, types of foods, and even the combinations allowed (Meals containing protein, vegetables, carefully selected fruit, and limited grains) are strategies that will keep the weight off. As someone who lost 88 pounds and kept the weight off, I can tell you the importance of changing your eating habits in this way, is a true gift and one that can be life-changing.

I'm not sure from your post, but are you ONLY eating the protein powder and oranges? No veggies? No other allowed fruits? No animal proteins at all?

If so, you are a stronger person than me, and no wonder you are looking forward to that visit to Golden Corral. I want to be eating real food, even if its only 500 calories worth. I wish you the best with your plan, but we see the best long-term results when people follow the protocol menus as fully as possible. It will be interesting to see if your method serves you well. I hope that you will keep us updated.

    Thanks, Jen, Elvin here,

Yes, I read up on P-3 and I think I will still go to Golden Corral, but I will be careful what I eat and how much of it. I lost another lb on Sunday, so I'm on track. I am on a very limited budget and have used it before and had good results, but gained back because of bad follow thru on P-3 and P-4. One time I lost to 172 and continued for some time, but forget how I got off track. Now I'm hoping to be 10 lbs under that, and I definetly don't want to gain the weight back again. Today, I used some pea protein in tomato juice, because I'm not sure if my whey protein will hold out these last 4 days. Not sure if that will effect me or not, but even if I stabilize at 166-7 that would be good, but sure want to lose 4-5 more. Thanks again for the link to the P-3, I need to focus on that

Hey elvin, you might want to check out Linda Prinster's HCG Weight Loss Cure Guide. (You can likely borrow it from your local library).

It has a comprehensive chart that tells you what foods work for P3 and which do not. P3 can be a bit overwhelming, because you are allowed to eat anything except starch and sugar. So there are a lot of gray areas.

I found the foods chart in that book really helpful, and still refer to it even though I should have all this stuff totally memorized by now. Each food has a Yes or No rating for each of the HCG Phases. And, some entries are marked with a Caution rating. For instance, although legumes are somewhat starchy they also contain some protein which makes them more complex. According to Prinster, they can be eaten in P3 as a Caution food. That means you would try a small amount and see if it affects the scale, or causes any kind of gastric distress or bloating. And even if not, it's a good idea to keep quantities small until you get to P4. Did you know that there are about 5 grams of protein in a cup of broccoli? It's a little harder to get protein from vegetable sources, but it can be done.

Pea protein powder is fine to use in P3 because all the pea starch has been removed. Be careful with juices (even vegetable juices). Its better to eat the whole fruit or vegetable so you get the fiber and release extra digestive enzymes from chewing.

It sounds like you're doing well on the protocol. I think if I were eating nothing but protein shakes, I'd be desperate for something to chew, but I know there are quite a few vegetarians who have done the protocol with all shakes. You have more willpower than I do.

As for Golden Corral, I've never been there so I don't know what they have, but eating meat, cheese and olives sounds like a good way to start P3 to me. It's all protein and fat, so very good for P3. I'd gain a ton back if I tried to eat P2 foods in P3...my body wants fat, fat and more fat in P3 in order not to regain. Maybe you'll add some non-starchy vegetables to that plan, too. Just be cautious to start slowly with portion sizes to let your digestive system adjust to solid food. Maybe wait on the buffet a couple days until your intestines adjust to having a little food in them so it doesn't all go right through you and make you sick.

And I agree with Jenya. It's nice to have a man posting. We do hear from them occasionally, but mostly I think they do hcg secretly and don't share their experiences. We all know a lot about how hcg works for women, but more information on what works best and how it works for men is valuable.

    Hi Leez,

Thanks for the note about the tomato juice. I thought it was ok, cause the pea powder by itself is horrible, but I know better now. I have stalled out again the last 2 days. Several reasons I think. The tomato juice, though it said no added sugars has a lot of sodium in it. Also the day I got it, I couldn't resist drinking about 10 ounces right away, then mixed more with the pea powder. That was the last 2 days, and it looks like my other protein power is going to hold out, so back to it only, and if I need the pea powder, I'll just have to stomach it. Also I checked on the yohimbre on some blogs, and it says it can cause you to retain water. So I'm off that, last pill yesterday afternoon. Most of them said it completely reversed in 3 days, so that's what I'm hoping, as I took my last injection this morning. 3 more days to go.

Also, day before yesterday I ate a good cupful of raw okra pods I had grown, I probably shouldn't have done that. And the final factor may be inflamation. I've been walking 3 hours plus a day, about 12 miles or more. It's been raining here in Lower Alabama and I walk thru grass. So I've been going barefoot, shoes will get soaked, and I like the grounding effect. But my feet have gotten really sore. So last night I took an aspirin (which I never do) and I slept like a baby. Took another one this morning and one this afternoon. I read that aspirin helps inflammation and reduced tissue swelling. So I hope I have snooped out all the little miscues. But am really so glad I posted here, for the info and knowledge I've received.

I'm 66. but I don't have old man's syndrome. What's that? When you think you know it all. I'm constantly learning and reading. As for why more men don't post. Maybe they think they're too macho. They may be intimidated by you clever and intelligent women. I'm not, I'm challenged and thankful.

The other thing is I need to drink more water. I'm a coffeeholic, usually at least 8 big cups a day with vanilla caramel creamer and sweet and low. This go round, I cut out the creamer completely and I''m not going back on it. It either has aspartame or high fructose corn syrup and I don't want those poisons in my body. Also, I'm down to about 3 maybe 4 cups a day. I did just buy a cheap espresso machine, waiting for the Cafe Bustelo coffee to be here tomorrow. But I'll probably just do 1 maybe 2 shots a day as I realize it is so much stronger.

Well, thanks again for all of you good women's input. I'm at 167 this am, but I've walked 2 times and I'm at 166.6 and holding. So I hope I stay there til bedtime and lose a lb overnight. But I'm happy already with my success. This is the best series I've ever done. Only the small miscues listed above. No cheat days. Before I'd have 2 or more cheat days and gain 2 or 3 lbs each time. The Golden Corrall thing for me has been a little motivational trick I've been playing on my mind to keep me on the straight and narrow with the promise of reward at the end of the road. But I will adhere to your advise when I go there Friday, because I don't want to blow the great progress I've made. Will keep posted.
