I was afraid during my last P3 because I had to raise my LDW by one pound and it went well for a bit but then I started gaining the more I added a variety of foods, especially in P4, trying to experiment. I think having that trust is so awesome. I lost weight loading so I will hopefully remember this on a day that I am eating with less mindfulness that it is all it takes.
You will get there. Just make sure that you are eating correctly in P3 and there is no reason to sweat the scale. Mind the trends instead of the single day's weight.

This morning's weigh in: 217.4. Down 1.4lbs from yesterday, 3lbs from Monday.

More fun with numbers and a trend I am liking: last 7 day average: 217.74lbs. Previous 7 day average: 220lbs. Average for all of P3: 218.75. What that tells me is that at the end of Phase 3 I am getting better. My weight is levelling off. I am spending more time below my LDW. I would love to get things where I am starting to see mornings of 215-214 even.

I have talked about this countless times but it bears repeating: The diet does not end at phase 2. Yes those VLCD days are a big deal. It is really simple, challenging, trying, painful, rewarding and fulfilling all at the same time. We find ourselves and take back control over our bodies and our lives. But many of us just check out once that part is over. We unfurl the "mission accomplished" banner and pat ourselves on the back. But phase 3 is the key to this whole thing. This round has been a great experience and possibly my best round overall and I thank Flo and MissM to help open my eyes to that.

Not everybody can commit to even doing phase 2. Anybody who can successfully complete a 23-40 VLCD protocol is a rare breed. So if you are reading this, just understand that you have already come this far. Now take it the rest of the way and attack phase 3 like you did phase 2. Just like phase 2 works, so does phase 3. But the hard part is that the old habits you brought into this protocol must end. And that will not happen until you are ready to buy in. It has taken me a very long time to get to this point and the rest of the lifetime to stay there.

An aside: I would love to have a conversation at some point on the Facebook - HCG 2.0 group but for now will avoid it. I don't post there but will check in from time to time. If you ever want to see a bunch of people doing this protocol completely wrong, this is a great place to check out. And I am not talking about the 2.0 protocol either. Just the way people approach it. But still, they are rare people that at least have the fortitude to follow through with what they are doing. Another time.

Jeff as the saying goes... we are all as strong as the weakest link...thats why i love to surround myself with positive people and no matter how good or bad one person is doing... we all have very valuable lessons to share, sometimes by just looking at something from a different perspective... and often there are the lessons we learn not to do.... but then again our bodies are different and we experience the process differently...

Thanks! Yes, I always eat properly in P3. With experimenting, I mean adding new P3 foods. Some foods, I didn't realize, were not good for me this time around. So weird. I have basically been P3 for many years (keto since 2013) and wanted to see if I could re-engage with carbs. This past P4 resulted in doing this current round to lose the weight I just lost! Lots to learn there.

I can never overeat on pork rinds, so I guess I am lucky! I just eat a few when cooking mostly. Nuts, on the other hand, are hard to stop for me. I drink a bottle of salted water a day and that seems to have helped me with not craving that salty snack. The crunch though...

    Great averages! Good to see!

Your last paragraph makes me wonder how many people read Pounds & Inches front to back. I did when I did my first rounds many years ago, and skimmed through it this past fall and it is pretty clear how this works (the phases). I think that many people nowadays see ads and stuff, and the companies selling HCG don't really focus on the whole protocol. Maybe they do read and don't believe it or are sidetracked by a few people and their rogue successes, I don't know. That said, like you mention, old habits have to go and that process is where the real work is. Most people diet to lose weight only. The Key is always in maintenance.

Many people just want the quick weight loss results and don't want to take the time to understand the why's and how's. "just give me the rules". That is why they start looking to cut corners as soon as they get into the first week of VLCD. Still if somebody takes the time to do this diet that in itself is a big step. They would be better served to truly understand things instead of going on Facebook and asking if it is okay to eat potatoes during phase 2.

215.6lbs this morning. Down another 1.8lbs. Did another measurements and down .5" across the board. I am down 1" in hips, waist and thighs since the beginning of P3.

Dealing with family stress right now so not a good time and I will leave it at that. I might be out of pocket for a couple of days. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend.

Hang in there with the family stuff. I hope it resolves easily.

I just returned to WLA for a refresher, and yes to all you said about folks' motivations for HCG. I think when it's approached as a quick fix, it will likely be very temporary. If HCG is taken as an opportunity for a true reset, to observe and address bad eating habits and behaviors, then there's real potential for lasting change--and much longer-term mindfulness when it comes to food.

I'm far from perfect, but I feel like I'm very much on the right track. The ups and downs aren't over, but I have no plans to abandon ship--and I feel I have all the tools I need to get and stay as healthy as possible. That's a very different thing than quick weight loss or a crash diet.

thanks for the kind words. Things are a little better on that front.

Made it through the weekend okay. Weighed in at 216.4 before I hit the road Friday. Big fish fry Friday evening. Plenty of fried catfish, homemade potato chips, sweet potato fries and hush puppies. My sister made a large salad. Really good food and good times with family. I didn't go crazy and ate a reasonable amount. Smoked up some ribs for the crew on Saturday with some sausage. Drank plenty of wine all weekend. Even had a bite of dessert and enjoyed a piece or two of easter chocolate. Got home late Saturday. Scale Sunday morning at 218. Played tennis and spent the afternoon doing yard work. 218.6 this morning. My first Monday not over 220lbs so that is really good.

Phase 3 is officially over. It has been a success. I will probably do a separate post to recap my experiences and thoughts on P3 at some other time.
