Thread: Another 3lb Loss! This Is Unreal!

  1. #1
So yesterday was my VLCD2, and this morning I weighed myself and I lost 3 lbs! Is this normal for the first few days? At this rate, I'll be at my goal weight in no time, provided I stick to the protocol. And I have so many challenges ahead of me - I'm attending a party every weekend and I'm going on vacation. Ughhh I hope this doesn't slow down. I'm loving the scale right now.

Pretty much, it is normal to go down a lot the first week. It's mostly water weight so it goes fast and really helps with the motivation to stick to the diet. After a while you might slow down once the real fat burning starts so don't let the smaller numbers discourage you. .5 -1 lb is normal.
As for the parties every weekend.... umm, yeah, good luck with that. I call call those "gauntlets". I had to go to a few showers for friends while in P2 and it was soooo hard. I wasn't hungry but watching them eat cake and snacks was soo hard.

That's great! Yes, it is normal for the first few days but don't get too used to it. My losses slowed down after day 4 or 5.

Thanks you guys! It's motivating to see the scale going down, that's for sure. I drank diet coke yesterday too - and had melba snacks, the garlic roasted kind. It was soo good and filling. When does the real fat burning start?

ok, you might want to give up the diet coke. And what do you mean by "snacks"?
I know some people drink DC occationally on P2 but you really don't want to make it a habit. You may not see a difference right now because you're only on Day 2 but it will (could) catch up to you.
Also, how many melba are you eating? Are they the rounds or the longer ones?

I'm eating the melba snacks, they're the rounds. And I only had one diet coke. I'm following this protocol, and the doctor said it was permitted:

OMG, I went to the site.... everything on there is DOUBLE the original protocol.....7oz of meat? 4 Melba toasts? And then the dressing? (my jaw is on the floor)
Almost everything out there that says "sugar free" really has some sort of sugar like Matrodexrin or Dextrose which cause a lot of people to stall or gain.
I'm not trying to bash it, but don't be surprised if you have issues after your first week.
Have you read Pounds and Inches? There is a link to it somewhere on this site. But if you don't want to read 50 pages here is a link to a simple break down.

Thanks for the link, Susie! I'm going to re-read P&I again. I think he means you can have up to 7oz of meat a day, so you can split that in half; it would be 3.5 - and you're right it is a higher calorie diet. But it makes it a little more tolerable. I have to cut out the diet coke, though. I was getting bad headaches from detoxing.

wait, sorry, I didn't read very well, I guess it does say only 7 oz a day...few...it had me worked up there a bit...but some of the other stuff is still a concern.

lisa- it's not much different- but you're NOT allowed to eat all your meat at the same time, as he says. and he does specify that the melba has to be the rectangular kind- not the rounds. the rounds are higher in calories (per size) so you have to do the math- and make sure the nutrient content is similar. i think you can have about 1 and 1/3 of those, for one piece of the rectangular kind. i wouldn't choose the popcorn- one bag is 100 calories, as opposed to 20 for the melba toast- and you only get ONE piece of melba toast, or one breadstick (per meal, so a total of 2 per day).
