    Alcohol and P2?

    OK I know this is cheating and I know it will cause a stall but I am wondering how bad it will be or should I take a break?
    On November 6th its the Marine Corp ball, I am planning on starting R2P2 on Oct 31st, I wanted to try and get a 23 day round in before Thanksgiving which would put me at the 22nd. Soooo I know at the ball I will be fine with food but its a social event and pretty much the only time a year we are all together and dressed up and able to let lose. No kids, just friends and fun. I know I am going to want to drink. What will it do to me? I know that I should not but really its such a fun night and I havent had one of those in awhile. Any thoughts?

    you can't take a break until after 23 days. so i'd either choose thanksgiving or the ball. alcohol has a lot of calories, so you'd probably stall if you drink while on P2. although i do know that there are a few people out there who occasionally have a glass of wine instead of a fruit.

    Ohh no choose Thanksgiving or the Ball!!! That makes me want to cry to think about. I would honestly rather give up Xmas dinner then either of those. LOL. Weird I know. OK so the break is out......Can it make me stall for a long time? Or is a cheat usually a 3ish day thing? With such a short round I dont want to spend a week making up for one night of fun. Gaahhh this is hard!

    hard to tell- could set you back a day, could be 3-4. maybe you should load during thanksgiving and be in P3 for christmas?

    That is a thought too......Hmmmmm.

    Any other thoughts? Anyone out there drink on phase 2? What happened?

    Heck, I'm no expert but I can't even drink on P3/4 without gaining 1.5 pounds. Sadly Sake is going to be very moderate this winter!

    *raising hand* I did. I have to start by saying I was drinking close to a bottle of wine a night (horrible rut to get in) prior to the diet. So once I started I was doing really well. We had a girls night and I did have a sparkling mineral water & 2 oz of Vodka (broken into two drinks) and still had a loss while on the drops. I also did a glass or wine here and there (we have lots of social events) and it didn't cause a gain.

    Now that I'm in P3 I have noticed small gains after having a glass or two of wine. I love my wine, just not a bottle at a time.

    I think the ball sounds like fun and being kid free with just adults is a wonderful occasion. Maybe set a limit for yourself. Tell yourself that you can have two drinks and give up a fruit and a bread stick. Maybe just up your protein a tad bit. Just stick with a safe drink and one that doesn't have loads of extra sugars.

    So I know I'm the bad influence here I was able to go through quite a few social events alcohol free and it was fine but I understand wanting to cut loose and have fun. Just be careful because the alcohol can hit you quickly and you need to drink tons of water so you don't have a terrible hangover in the morning!!

    I've had alcohol on P2 as well and it had minimal effect. I don't do it unless like you, there is an event with alcohol. I don't do wine, too much sugar I think, but I've done gin and tonic with a lime and no issues. I have lost afterwards and I think I have gained, but only a few ounces, nothing major. Don't go overboard and just know that it might have an effect. Also remember, too much alcohol often leads to too much eating, so stay strong on that front.

    poweredbystarbucks!! I LOVE your name!! I love me some starbucks too!! Thanks for responding, I appreciate it. I guess I am going to have to think abut what I am going to do. I have been to a few social occasions and havent had a drink so I know I am capable but its the Ball! I sound like such a whiney baby. lol. I dont drink much and this is the one time I ususally do. I guess I will figure it out. Why cant I have my cake and eat it too. Waahhh. LOL.

    Not saying you should drink, but this is what I did...
    1st time I did an apple day the day before I drank and then ate a P2 lunch the day that I was going to drink. Skipped dinner and had vodka/OJ punch (a lot of it) no gain and did not stall.
    That is the only time I successfully drank on P2 so I won't tell you about the others lol ...wine stalled me (but I ate during those cheats as well)

    anyone know which alcohols have very little calories? Like Vodka? I don't know what happened but in the past I would go literally years without a drink then this last round I tried a drink in P3 and I have been craving it ever since. Any ideas? I found the atkins alcohol mixers site and that was cool but I wonder which alcohols if any have minimal calories.

    many drink vodka on P3 without a problem. all liquor is approx the same in terms of calories.
