Thread: Alcohol and P2?

    I went a week and a half at the beginning with no booze (my poison of choice is beer), but then read some threads about drinking vodka or gin. I've been drinking gin and mineral water, with a splash of lime since day 9 of P2 (I am now in P4). I was/am rogue, so I added other things off protocol too, but I drank my gin every night (sometimes way too many drinks), and was able to lose 20+lbs. I now call this my HCG Gin Diet Cheers!

    Day 5 (friday) I had my first drink. Yuck. Only finished 1/2! LOL. I percervered, mind you, and managed a few more the next night... And a few more than that the night after! LOL. Back on track yesterday (day 8) and today. However, I have stalled at 148. My fault. Vodka/club soda is my drink of choice, so I'm lucky there. Once I hit P3/P4 I hopefully won't have a problem.

    Hmmm... Stuck to protocol on day 8 & 9, but haven't budged from 148. Maybe those drinks weren't a good idea. 

    OK, So, here is the first time I will admit this on here.. So, vlcd4... I was mad at my usual ride home, so, stubbornly, I took the 4 hour long bus ride home. On the bus some guy gave me $100 bill with his name and phone number on it.. I declined 3x until it pretty much tossed it at me and got off the bus! (What a great day to ride the bus). With these winnings I decided to go to my favorite local bar just for enjoyment. Even though I had not eaten dinner yet... I planned on having maybe a few waters, and MAYBE a shot.

    Anyways, my favorite bartender was working, so we chatted about HCG a bit, so when I told her I wasn't drinking she suggested I drink water, vodka, and MIO (0 cal drops of flavor). I accepted one.. One turned into maybe 5 or 6.. I danced, I laughed, I had fun. The next morning, I woke up SO disappointed that after a mere 4 days I was cheating with alcohol... And BOY oh BOY did I feel like CRAP! Nonetheless.. I got on the scale... Mind you the previous morning I weighed at about 219... When I got on the scale I had DROPPED 6lbs! Yes SIX!

    I also realized I had left my drops at the bar (had a bag I put being the bar from the bus ride).. And I wasn't able to go get them and take them until about 4pm. From the time I woke up til about 6pm I felt like absolute CRAP! I couldn't keep any water down, about 5-10 minutes after drinking some it came right back up. This didn't stop until around 3pm, got the drops and felt fine. I still hadn't eaten ALL day.. so I took my nephew out to Outback where i had a 6oz steak, 4 pieces of shrimp and asparagus (I justified it because I hadn't eaten ALL day) I also asked them to NOT put any butter, seasoning, or anything they normally do on it.

    The following morning (Sunday) I had gained 1.8 pounds. Fine with me. After 6lbs overnight. Needless to say, I am still having great losses. And I have even went back to the bar and had lemon water. I totally regret that choice.

    I will never speak of it again!

    Lol. Great story, mbliss. Gin still doesnt affect my losses, although this round, R3, I am omitting gin or any kind of drinking for at least the first two weeks-- if not the entire round. Although I don't feel that drinking slowed my losses, I just want to stick as close to protocol and drop this 30 as fast as I can before the winter season. After the two weeks I may make the rule that I can drink, but only when out at a bar or something. We'll see. Today is only day 3 of P2, so I got a ways to go before I make a decision.

    @G-Dizzle ~ Good for you! I wish I was that brave!! I hope it continues to work for you! Haha, it will be funny if you find that gin HELPS your losses!

    I figure the less I go off protocol and drink, the more money I save. Being just 22 I am still new to the drinking scene, but I will look so much cuter with my martini in a little black dress

    Usually if I'm going to drink - lite beer that is my supper for the evening and Yes I also have great losses the next day - maybe because I'm starving myself HA HA any way one day after having beer I lost 4lbs the next day and this AM I'm down another 2!!!! 6lbs in 2 days - love it

    I'm with ya, Claire, I think that the drinks help with losses. Well, maybe. Maybe its just a coincidence. Yesterday I only lost .4 and last night was ladies night, so I had a gin & soda, and had another (or two )when I got home, and was down 2.4lbs this AM! I couldn't believe it. I plan on going out tonight for a friends Bday, so gin and sodas it is!

    I am way too scared to drink. Major chicken over here. But, I'm only doing one round because I only have 20 lbs to lose so if I don't get the job done this time there is no next time. But, I am DYING for a glass of red wine. I would sell my sister for one. Fiance is on the diet too and we have already planned out our first decadent meal in P3. Filet Mignon with lobster bernaise sauce and iceburg wedge salad. We're opening an amazing Cab we bought in Napa this summer and have held for a special occasion. R1P3D4 seems like a freakin' holiday. 17 days aways....

    LDW 11/21 - 131.2 (15.4 lbs. gone!)
    Current weight 12/8 - 130.1 stabilizing well!

    hmm.... alcohol is a powerful diuretic. could just be water-loss. Just a thought.
    DISCLAIMER: I mostly follow Dr. Simeons protocol however, I may talk about things that are not advised in his book Pounds and Inches. Those things or items have neutral affect on me personally and do not effect my weight loss in an unfavorable way, however. I will attempt to note when something I mention is "off protocol".

    G-Dizzle....Love the quotes.

    I am trying to go as alcohol free as possible but I indulge in a couple gin from time to time. I am going to try to do a 40 day P2, (I need to loose about 30).... I will let you know how it effcts my loses.
