Thread: Not losing

    Not losing

I have been on hcg for 12 days and have lost only 8 lbs. I take supplements that I am told I have to eat some fat with. I guess this diet will not work me since you are not supposed to have fat. I am very frustrated.

Sorry, but you can't eat fat on the HCG protocol and expect it to work optimally.

However, you've lost 8 pounds in 12 days which is not a bad loss rate even when doing it perfectly. The problem may come later in your ability to stabilize, however.

You really don't need vitamins or supplements during the very low calorie phase of the diet. As your fat cells release their fat to be burned, the nutrients, vitamins and minerals stored there are also released. You could resume the supplements once P2 is over. Is that an option?

Fats must be in the diet. Except from fats, you will not get fatty acids from anywhere, which are vital for the body to work. I am not a supporter of radical measures. For some people, a keto diet that is based on fat and protein is fine, but I have not seen a single sensible diet that prohibits fat intake. Without fatty acids, a number of vitamins will not be broken down and absorbed in your body, not to mention the fact that fats themselves are very useful.

What JSom is missing in the comment above is that the HCG enables your body to burn its own fat stores. So you are getting plenty of fat from that process.

If the supplements you are taking have oil in small amounts (like the tiny vitamin D3 capsules) they will not affect the HCG diet. Its those big honking fish oil caps that could throw things off.

But even then, you'll still lose. Just maybe not as much, and you might have some extra stalls. If you must continue to take them, you can mitigate the extra fat somewhat by only eating fish and shrimp as your proteins during the low calorie phase. They are lower fat than chicken breast or beef, so you can make up some of the supplement fats that way.

I was thinking the same thing, Leez, about the fat stores in your body being burned already, glad you made the point--sure better received from the pro.
