1. What size needle are you using?

My needles are 27G, 1/2", 1cc/ml. She had me pulling .25

I got to thinking on the drive out about why my math didn't work when I took 10000/30 and got 333 iu. I think it's only mixed for 25 days allowing for a 5 day menstrual cycle. And 10000/25 equals 250. So I basically had it right but I'm glad I called and confirmed anyway.

How's sub-q different from im injection?

With only a 1/2" needle you're probably not hitting the muscle. So you're actually doing subcutaneous injections and not intramuscular.

10,000iu's is normally for 40 days...not 30. To get the IU amount take the hcg vial amount (5000, 10000, etc.) and divide it by the amount of fluid that was added. So, you have 10,000 iu's divided by 10ml/cc of bac water which equals 1000iu's per ml/cc. From that multiply the 1ml amount by your injection amount - .20, .25, etc. to get the iu per dose. (250iu's in your case)

You do your injections at night? It doesn't matter I'm just curious. But, yes, I think you should skip a day and see if your hunger gets better. If it does get better then you need to reduce your dose.

4. I tried taking them in the morning but my morning schedule proved erratic (never get up at the same, sometimes leaving early) but I'm almost always home at 11 pm, so that's when I take them now, except I'm going to take your advice and skip tonight. Thanks! It amazes me how much more informed this site is compared to the dr.'s office.

Sadly, most of the employees of clinics selling hcg haven't even tried it. I'm not sure you can really know and understand the protocol until you've lived it. That's what makes the forum so amazing...everyone has lived the protocol. The wealth of information here is invaluable!!!!

6. Actually the nurse has already finished her first round. She had to put me on hold for two solid minutes to find out how many ius were in ea. dose. She didn't seem to know what I was talking about when I mentioned skipping one day a week when doing a 40 day round. She's the one who told me I was doing im injections. After I finish this round, I'm doing the others on my own (well with the help from all the good people here of course!)

7. if she thought you were doing IM injections and didn't know the dose off-hand, i have to wonder if she really gave you the right information. or if she just assumed that 2.5 meant 250 units. i'd go back and ask how much water they mixed with the vial- we see a lot of clinics where the person dealing with the patients really doesn't know what they're doing! they didn't necessarily just give you enough for that many days- when you get it from a pharmacy in the states, i believe the only size vials they have are 10000 units- so they mix it up, and when you're done you just throw the rest away. so i wouldn't read anything into the amount of liquid in the vial.

either way, we can help you if you're hungry. if your hunger gets better after missing your dose, you need to lower it. if you're taking .25, i'd take .2. if you're more hungry we might want to re-think it, because most of the doc's offices i know mix for 200 iu's- and most don't need more than that for subq.

I've already tried .2 for four days - miserable.

9. Tia, how much fat do you have where you are injecting? Even with a 1/2 inch needle, you may be hitting muscle if you're doing anterior thigh. IM dose is 125 IU, so you would be way over. But the short, fine gauge needle suggests your clinic intends you to be injecting SQ. As does the dose they have you on.

10. Well I'm mainly staying on the tops of the thighs where there is less fat where she taught me. I suppose I could move to the upper outer thigh where there seems to be more fat. What is the anterior thigh?

edit to add that I'm supposed to pinch the area before injection. The nurse said that sometimes she'll use her inner thigh area.

11. Skipping a day didn't work, I'm as hungry today as ever! Do I take a shot now? How much? I just want to cry. I think if I hadn't put so much money into this I'd have given up and gotten some fast food on the way home today.

12. you inject at night, right? i'm guessing that you haven't had enough time yet for your levels to come down, because it still hasn't been 24 hrs yet. can't imagine you'd need more than 250 iu's with 1/2" needles- it's much more likely that you need less- a lot less. so if i were you i'd take about 100 iu's (.1) so your levels can continue to come down. then let us know how you're feeling tomorrow at dinner.
