How do you weight crab legs. When I eat shrimp I take the tails and shell off before I weigh but you cant do that with crab. Help please.

I would love to know the answer to this too.

What I did was to buy it from my butcher. But it was already cooked. So I started cracking the legs and put the meat on a scale but only put 3oz in stead of the 3.5 because I didn't know if the cooking would have cause a difference in the amount of meat.

I would love to know how others do it because I'm not sure it was correct.

I cooked a fish filet and it lost a whole ounce. 3.5 to 2.5 and the shells weigh way more than water

yeah, that's what I thought. I know when you buy a lb of legs you get like a 1/2 lb? Something like that. I would love to know if the way I'm doing it is right. I was so happy to see your post. I haven't bought any more because I was nervous i was eating too much.

I thought the same thing when I first tried crab legs on P2....I LOVE crab legs so I was a little nervous when it looked like alot of crab on my plate!! I cooked my crab, took it out of the shell, weighed the cooked crab meat at 100g, ate it and loved it, and still lost 1.7lbs the next day!!

May not work for everyone, however, just thought I put my opinion in.

I know this is an old post, but I bought frozen snow crab last night for the first time (I'm 1 week on the diet) and the package indicated 1 cluster is 1 serving, and a serving is 85grams and 100 calories. So I boiled 1 cluster and hadn't enjoyed a meal so much since even before I started the diet, but my god I kept thinking- this a lot of crab. It was something like 4 claws. Ultimately, it looks larger than it is, once you crack it, but in the end, I didn't lose any weight the next morning. I didn't gain weight, but I'm disappointed 1 week in that I didn't lose any weight. Next time I'll weigh the meat, but honestly, it takes so long to crack the crab legs that I just eat as I crack. So my question is, what has everyone discovered is the appropriate number of crab legs to eat that will not exceed your serving on the HCG. I'm concerned the packaging may be misleading.
