    Day 1 of VLCD...here I go again :(

LOL well...my first day on VLCD and so far so good. Anticipating the ugly headache and withdraw symptoms that are about to be plaguing me.

I was nervous of my mix as I had an issue with my mixing needle and seemed to lost a drop here and there while transferring between vials. I also did not have a large enough one for the mix I wanted to do...10ml with 5000. I went with the 5 ml mix and pulling out 12.5 cc into the syringe. I am also doing this diet now in half a kitchen. Had a flood from the dishwasher and insurance is in here this week replacing the floor. Gonna cook around them i guess lol.

Got on the scale for the first time in 6 months. Unbelievable how one can gain it back so fast. Its almost like my body wants to be fat. I am back on the exact number I was when i lost the last time. Part of me is still wondering why as I did my best to stay away from breads and sugars for a long time before I noticed I was gaining anyways and thought screw it. I am frustrated as I have done this diet 4 times now and lost each time but can't keep it off and find myself back here every 6 months to a year or so. I have not been able to figure out what makes me gain or what I may be sensitive to. I watched the scale like a hawk on p3 and even on p4 and did not see any noticeable fluctuations to raise that red flag. My thyroid has been tested as well and appears normal. What has blown me away is that I have an active job as a letter carrier and that did not seem to help me. How to skinny people stay skinny????? How do I stay at my new weight? I will be seeing my doctor on Friday to see about another thyroid test but am going to ask if there is a way i can get a test done for food sensitivities. Anything is better than having to keep doing this diet every 6 months lol. I have to admit though...after doing the diet I really do feel good about myself even if its only temporary. It is a feeling that I would love to hang on to for a lifetime.

Good luck, sunfun, you'll be basking in those great first week losses soon.

I really know the pain you are facing about the regains. I've fought that all my life. Even through my HCG rounds. Like you, I would do fine in P3 and for a while in P4 and then start gaining no matter how careful I was. (And believe me--I was uber careful. I turned into the worst kind of food nazi.)

The first time I was able to get control was after my spring round last year. I maintained my LIW for nearly a year this time before I started this final round. What helped me was the FMD (Fast Metabolism Diet). I was able to maintain by doing that. There are healing benefits to it, and you will find you will be able to eat starches again and not gain. But I think what helped me the most is that there was a plan that you had to follow (but still got to eat really good food). I found that with just a couple of tweaks, I could do the FMD rotations and enjoy eating that way. This actually shocked me, but I came to the point where I felt like I could just continue on eating that way and be happy. Unfortunately, none of the weight loss it promises ever happened, which is why I'm doing this last HCG round.

Maybe FMD is something you could think about once you get into P4. There are links in my sig to the ending reports of the 5 months I followed it if you want to see how it went for me. If you think your problem is more about hidden sensitivities, then possibly you could benefit by doing The Plan. Its something Grammy recommends as a really good option.

yes I am definately interested. When did you do this? P3 or P4? I will still ask the doctor to rule out all possible medical issues but yeah...i also realize I am probably going to need two rounds to get rid of the 50 lbs (would love 60 but not going to push it). Sometimes I feel like a poor hamster or gerbil stuck in a wheel going round and round round and round with no end in sight. Crazy. I wish I was one of those lucky ones that can eat anything they want and not gain a pound So frustrating. Tell me more about the FMD for you My interest is peaked.

Hello, SunFun - love the name
I could've wrote your post same boat at you are. Today is my VLCD 1. I am doing injections. Last round I cheated twice, the did great in p3, and was well into p4 when went on vacation and let lose . I think beer and margaritas did me in. Although sugary bread and cookies helped a lot.
I tried different things to lose weight - low carb, counting calories, Atkins, exercise, etc - to no avail, so now I am back on HCG. I don't fit in any of my clothes anymore - it's so sad. I had my blood type done and genes analyzed.
I checked ny thyroid - I am very so slightly low (I did Willson's protocol - it helped). But it's nothing new for me - I think I always had it, but had no problem saying at 140 lb and being 5'8". In fact it was always effortless. Being 136 lb was requiring skipping desert for a day or two.
Amazingly enough it seems that my body does much better weight wise with some junk food in my diet; however I feel better without junk food. Wishing you good luck in this round. I am getting hungry now - perhaps it's time for lunch.

I started FMD a couple of months into P4, when the unexplainable gains started. Grammy says you can start it anytime after P3.

Thanks for the input guys but i seriously don't think i can give up coffee for it lol. That stuck out like a sore thumb when reading lol. I will continue to read about it but i am really hoping there is something medically wrong (not horrible) that can be fixed like my thyroid and would explain.

Day 2 today and I woke up feeling like a truck hit me but did also wake up to a 3 lb loss. My head hurt so bad...can we all say "withdrawl"? Yeah this is what it is AND SOME. Way worse than the last few rounds and get this! I even tried to avoid sugar a week before dieting to avoid exactly this. Anyways, I went back to bed taking two advil. Woke up again 1.5 hours later and it had faded quite a bit. As I sit here I can feel it knocking ever so softly and it is whispering: "HELLLLOOOOO COOOLLLEEENNNN...Don't get too excited darlin' cause I am not really going anywhere! Just takin' a quick breather then......I'LL BE BACK!"

    Sigh

The things we do to feel good.

Another hitch...our dishwasher flooded our kitchen and insurance is in here tearing up our floor and cupboards. Yesterday the floor went...today our cupboards and sink disappear. I have been cooking my chicken around it. I am going to keep it up even though insurance will pay for any take out or eating out for us while the work is being done. Worse case i get grilled chicken salad and mcdonalds and just pick stuff out. So frustrating ...the timing could not have been any worse. Just think...go and eat anywhere I want and have it paid for lol.

Anyways, I shall bid you all a due and keep on truckin'. Nothing is gonna stop me from losing this horrible horrible foreign jelly that is sticking to my body frame. hmph. so there.

Hope you all are doing well with yours and happy losing!!

Definitely will keep FMD in mind for P4. I zoomed through some of your posts, and I think oh I can do that.

I didn't give up coffee. I don't give up coffee for ANYTHING. It still worked for me.

@sunfun: I did the first round of FMD without coffee or dairy. It really did take discipline because my coffee is like the last indulgence of my life that I haven't had to give up. It was HARD. And though I like the Cafix coffee substitute, it is not coffee and I missed coffee terribly. But I wanted to give FMD a chance to do its thing as completely as possible, so I toughed it out for the 28 days.

You will be interested to know, however, if you havent read that far into my thread...that after that first round I did all the others WITH coffee and I put cream in it. I didn't ration it at all. I drank coffee all day long, and used about 2 oz half&half in it every day. I also used Greek yogurt as a protein. I actually lost a little better during those rounds than the first one. So, judging from both Grammy's and my experience, if you know you don't have problems with caffeine or dairy (I don't), it seems to me that you would be safe ignoring that rule for FMD from the beginning.
