Didn't Lose a Lot of Weight w/HCG. Under Care of Dr.

I recently paid $1200 to a med spa type clinic supervised by a medical doctor. My husband and I both did an HCG 40 day protocol of injections. I thought I did My homework and researched what we needed to do and how it worked. I lost 13 pounds and my husband lost 22 LBs. We are both large, me weighing 194 at start of protocol and only 5 ft. I am so disappointed BC I felt I needed to lose more and I felt super hungry throughout most of the diet. I felt like the Dr never tried to see what the issue was with me losing slowly and not much weighin. She started us each at 150 iu's. Every week I would tell her I felt like I was starving. She would not do anything like try to change the hcg amount to assist. She only told me that I could either eat more fruit or Melba toasts. Terribly disappointing. At around day 17-18 at one of our weekly appointments she finally said that I wasn't losing much weight so she prescribed me phentermine for some extra help. I only took it for around 2 weeks only and I stopped BC I was having some bad side effects. She also increased the hcg to 200 iu's. Did I get ripped off and what can I do?? I'm so disappointed BC we followed the diet to the T and it didn't work for me. I now want to Buy HCG on my own and do injections Myself and hope to get the assistance of this forum.

I'm so sorry you and your husband had such a bad experience.

So many doctors and clinics refuse to make dose adjustments when there are hunger issues. Usually lowering the dose will fix that and losses will resume. (some have to go higher, but most need to lower, and which way is indicated by skipping a dose). And in your case, your doctor likely made things worse by raising your dose to 200iu, which is way too high for most people. The doctor showed their ignorance of how HCG works by giving you something to mask the hunger instead of dealing with and fixing it. We see this all the time, unfortunately.

Did you follow the rules for the 3 weeks after HCG in order to stabilize your new set point?

I'm glad you are willing to try again, because this will work once you get your dose right. On your next round, start at 125iu and see how you do.

Be sure that you do not start another round until at least 6 weeks have passed since you finished the first one, and you should be able to be successful.

You can buy US made HCG online for a couple hundred less than what you paid. But programs with medical oversight do sometimes cost more. My doctor charged $425 for the long course.

Thanks so much @Leez. Yes, I did follow the rules. I am so hoping a 2nd round works. But I am conflicted about this. On the one hand I feel like it's such a constant struggle for me to lose weight and that I must have a problem. Then I have heard that some folks do lose weight but they have to do a few rounds of hcg, some even around 6 to see 50+ pounds of weight loss. I myself was hoping to lose at least 20 on my 1st round. I do think this doctor was not helpful at all. I live in Boston and the hcg med spa supervised diets are all super pricey. So my next step is ordering it online and using this forum for assistance.

I've never really seen anyone NOT lose 20 pounds on a long round when the dose is right and they are sticking to the original protocol. Your husband will likely lose 30. It just aggravates the tar out of me when I hear these stories, and unfortunately, they are common. I've never seen anyone need 6 rounds to lose 50 pounds. Usually 2 plus a short round will do it and some do it in 2 rounds. Make sure you read the Original Protocol under the tab at the top of this page. The doctor is very likely to have given you the wrong foods as well.

    Good luck!

Ditto to want Leez and Grammy said and I'd like to add that the advice of eating more Melba and fruit is crazy! If anything, people drop the Melba and sometimes the fruit. If you were to eat more of anything, it would be the lean protein! However, Grammy and Leez are spot on- your dose was probably too high! Your much better ordering online (I order from New Edge/Rejuvi) and mix yourself following the guidelines on this board (do not follow the mixing guidelines they send you or it will be difficult to adjust your dose!)

Even without the HCG you should have lost more than that so I wouldn't entirely blame the clinic. Are you drinking enough water?

As it also affected your husband I would go through the food you eat & ate (I'm assuming you didn't use any prepped food service).

If the fruit or melba doesn't work perhaps have a chicken breast steak and toss the carbs.

That is not a given. Sometimes there are hormonal or metabolic things going on that prevent loss even from extreme calorie deprivation. There was a time in my dieting history when I had restricted so much and so long that when I did a diet of less than 600 calories a day I gained 2 pounds at the end of a month. I was plenty overweight at that time too, so it wasn't that I was thin and dieting. It was because my metabolism was wrecked. And even though I couldn't lose that way, I did lose with HCG, even in that condition. So it really is about getting the right dose as well as following the protocol.
