It isn't the actual volume, but the potency of the sweetener. I have experienced increased hunger when I use no-calorie sweeteners instead of omitting the sweeteners.

My guess is that my tongue tastes the sweet and says "SUGAR COMING DOWN!" When no sugar arrives, my body is all like WTF? and I get hungrier.

I used to do my previous rounds with flavored liquid stevia (French vanilla) in seltzer water. Sometimes I'd smash a portion of my strawberries portion in seltzer with a bit of stevia. Especially if I had an evening out at a bar and didn't want to seem lame or missing out. I once went to a cocktail gala with over 100 mixologists mixing cocktails and sampler foods. I was prepared to order seltzer all night ammoed with strawberry mush in a baggy. Thank goodness they had a handrolled grisini display because I grabbed my grisini for the night and was able to stave off my cheats. I did cheat that night the tiny tinny bit of burbon infused ice cream and a blue cloudy liquid nitrogen cocktail sip did make its way past my lips and i paid for it with a day of needle prick and no loses.

Panera has a grea Acai Berry unsweetened Iced Tea, I add stevia.. I have also had the soda Zevia, only periodically and had no problems on it. At night I blend my strawberries, the juice of a lemon and a little water, ice and stevia and make a slushie.. YUM!

Water is the goal for sure, without anything added. I drink green tea which is going to help me in the long run. I add Sweet n Low, or stevia Valencia Orange drops sometimes to shake things up. I also have tried root beer in seltzer water, vanilla creme with orange fruit blended in water, even grapefruit blended in water with Sweet and Lo. I get so tired of water too. I figure this is going to break me of my sugar habit in my drinks too. Good luck! Stay the course! Good question

Have you ever tried Braggs ACV drinks? I fell in love with them and so I make them at home now and I drink them all through P2. In addition to lots of water, electrolytes, mineral water etc.

Ingredients: juice of lemon or lime, apple cider vinegar (ACV), orange liquid stevia, vanilla liquid stevia, water, ice... Sometimes I add ginger as well. Make it to taste. ACV is something that you get used to and now I like to have more of it but you can start mild. It's so good and so good for you! I found that the orange liquid stevia really makes the difference. Somehow it counters the sour of the vinegar better than just vanilla or plain.

You can also make homemade soda using mineral water and liquid stevia. There are so many flavors now. Yum!!

Then why would stevia drops work better?

I don't think they do. But, that is my personal and individual opinion, based on my own unique experience.

If you've already tested it and its fine for you...then its fine for you.

Just a caveat though: The problems with off-protocol ingredients, however, might not show up until you try to stabilize in P3.

Maltodextrin is a starch that has a glycemic index of twice that of sugar. So that would be a red flag.

Maltodextrin is a horrible ingredient. I 'm in P4 over 6 months now and I don't have any problem with real sugar, but if I eat anything with Maltodextrin will have a gain of 2-3 lbs. the next day. I now have to check food labels very carefully since I appear to be highly sensitive to it. Just a couple of weeks ago I had run out of Swanson low sodium chicken broth, so I used a liquid chicken flavoring packet similar to bouillion cubes as a substitution in the dish I was making. I didn't eat anything else out of the ordinary, but woke up to a 3 lb. gain the next day. When I checked the ingredient list on the liquid chicken flavoring, it listed Maltodextrin as an ingredient. I'd had a similar experience with another product containing this poison What else do you drink on P2? Water is getting old!

Don't even get me started! Maltodextrin is used in so many things! You almost can't buy anything prepared because it is used so extensively. You even have to check supplements because its' often included it there too. Because I have a corn sensitivity, I avoid anything with dextrin in the name because that means it was most likely made from corn, since its the cheapest source for any kind of sugar product. If I happen to get the tiniest bit of corn product in anything, I can gain 4 pounds overnight.
