Female Stuff - Menopause... just kidding

    Look away boys!
I am in that stage where I was perimenopausal and then my periods just seemed to stop. I had not gotten one since July - woohoo! Then, I started hcg on Monday and Friday morning I woke up with my period. Darn. Menopause is playing tricks on me? Not sure if that would have happened normally, but I have a suspicion that the introduction of the hormones may have triggered it. Any thoughts?

Yes, the HCG can cause all kinds of menstrual changes, usually different start times or flow patterns and such. You'll go back to your previous hormonal schedule after you are off the HCG for a few weeks.

So even thought its caused by an external, I think it means your official menopause start date will be 12 months from now if its is the last time. You can't count from July anymore.

Yes. I have not had a period in two years and had some spotting when I started. It is gone now. My hot flashes have however not disappeared So annoying. I think they are less but I can't wait for them to be gone.

I think the 12 month rule applies to any bleeding, but opinions may vary.

    Here's one standard:
if you haven’t had a period in 12 months and have high FSH levels, you’re very likely done with menopause/

So I guess you basically have to decide if what you are experience is a "period" or not, and confirm with a test of your FSH levels.

Here's an old health board thread discussing the question: https://www.healthboards.com/boards/...menopause.html

Awesome, thanks! After this round I will raise my FSH levels with diet and see!

I had early menopause. I had gone about 2 years without a period when I started HCG the last time . Just as I was finishing phase 2 I got a period. I haven't had another one since.
