Hair loss and thyroid meds and hcg diet and terror

Hi, So I received my HCG in the mail but I am afraid to start because of hair loss fears--

I have Hashimoto's and before I got on thyroid medicine I lost 70% of my hair twice in 2 years. It is growing back in but super slow--it has been 2 years since my last hair fall and it was pretty traumatic. I have been trying to regrow my hair for 4 years and I just do not think i can take another hair loss event.

I do take NPThroid,65mg in the AM

I would love to hear other people's experience

I hope you are not looking for medical advice from us . . . That said, there has been lots of discussion about using hcg with Hashimoto's.

Go to Search, click on "Advanced search", enter Hashimoto's and click on "Forum titles". That will bring up the previous discussions of this topic.

I take NP Thyroid. I've never experienced hair loss with HCG.

You can take biotin to support hair growth during your round if you wish.

My hair actually thickens and "grows like a weed" when I'm on hcg. I remember after my 1st and 2nd rounds, my hair was longer and thicker than it had been since I was a little girl.

    My daughter has hypo/Hashimoto's.
When it first developed, it was hell. Despite being damn near obsessive and doing everything she could to retain, she lost about 80% of her hair. It was thin, hard, dry and each strand stuck to the next.

She didn't take any meds. She doesn't like doctors since childhood (why). So she decided to take her hair back under her control. She read over much literature and thematic blogs and took really many vitamins (sometimes i thought about the impact on the liver but she always said "keep calm and wait" ). She added Alfalfa, Evening Primrose Oil, EFAs, Gotu Kola, iron, horsetail and a few others. It was a long journey, but now she has returned her hair

Normally, hair loss is brought by poor HCG diet also known as the Simeon's Protocol which requires HCG users to be on a 500-calorie per day diet. There are other diet plans that you can try that requires higher calorie intake than 500 calories per day.

While people do sometimes experience hair loss while on the HCG protocol, it is not a common side effect and might not even be attributable to the HCG hormone. I think it is more likely that hair loss during HCG has more to do with the condition of your thyroid. And since thyroid function is enhanced during your time on HCG, it can actually help your hair growth.

I also believe its a myth that the 500 calorie diet you are on during the protocol is nutritionally deficient. I think that myth comes from a lack of understanding of how the HCG releases and mobilizes your existing fat stores that provide part of your energy during P2. There are a lot of vitamins and minerals stored in those shrinking fat cells that come back into the body and provide extra nutrition beyond the daily 500 calories that are added. One of the reasons so many feel really good and energetic during P2 is because they are getting good nutrition--and eliminating toxins that stress the metabolism.
