Thread: HCG Not Doing Its Job? Seeking Veteran Advice.

  1. #1
I'm on VLCD day 14, I've lost about 11 pounds and I'm still hungry. My goal was to lose the last 10-15 pounds of abnormal fat (hips, thighs, bum) which I couldn't get rid of through exercise.

I started using the pharmaceutical grade HCG (organon) sublingually. I mixed the HCg with 12ml of b-12 and 3ml of colloidal silver and I was taking 0.5ml twice a day for about 9 days. During this time I didn't feel like the HCG was being absorbed because of my technique (which I got working after about 5 days) and because I was ravenous non-stop. My weight loss in at that stage was 1 pound a day but from experince it seems like I lost mostly muscle and the fat that I would lose by doing a regular exercise regime.

I then re-mixed a new batch of 5000iu HCG with 10ml bac water to do injections. I started with 3 days of 200iu sub-q and once my IM needles arrived I started doing IM injections in rotating muscles (as I read one should'nt inject in the same site over and over). I've tried doses of 150iu,175iu and 200iu but I'm still hungry. Not as ravenous as I was in the first week, probably because my body has got used to the 500 calories I supply it with, but still hungry. I usually feel lightheaded, sometimes I have have "brain-fog". I take magnesium and potassium supplements every day.

Does it sound like the HCG isn't doing it's job? I've lost weight but seemingly almost none of the abnormal fat, I never have a feeling of being full and I feel weak even though I've experimented with different doses without any change. Should I stop?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

kalle- it happens to some people. i'm not ravenous, but rarely feel full, even right after i eat. you should not be starving, but some people do continue to feel some level of hunger throughout their round, even with tweaking their dose. how much mag/pot do you take? i take 180 mg of each, twice a day, so you might try increasing that (i think most people take about 1/2 of what i do, though). you could even try increasing your hcg to 250 which is high for IM but a few people have had to do that. or you could try decreasing, to 125. the weakness, again, is there for some people- in fact we've had a LOT of people complaining of that recently. if you stop you're likely to gain the weight back, so i'd try to hang in there for 23 days. you might want to try an otc appetite suppressant, too.

It sounds like it's not doing its job. Are you sure you still have abnormal fat to lose? It sounds like you might not. And I don't think you'll gain back the weight if you stop because obviously the hcg isn't resting your hypothalamus. If I hadn't been able to resolve my hunger, I would have stopped my round because it's useless to continue because then it's hard to stabilize. Are you sure you're hitting the muscle? Where are you injecting? Have you skipped a day? If not, skip a day today and see if you are less hungry or more hungry. If you're less hungry, then tomorrow try 125 iu and see how you do. Keep us posted!

Are you sure you still have abnormal fat to lose?

Well, I was on a quite intensive diet/exercise regime for around 12 months. I lost around 20 pounds on that in a reasonable amount of time but the last 10-15 around the hips, thighs and bum just wouldn't budge no matter what I did, so I assume that's my abnormal fat.

Are you sure you're hitting the muscle? Where are you injecting?

I've rotated my injections (using 25g 1" needle), I've done top of the thigh (where I believe I'm hitting muscle since I don't really have that much fat in that part)and glutes (where I feel a little more resistance to when I was injecting subq).

    Have you skipped a day?

No, I haven't tried that. I thought that was only for longer 40 day programs?

Thanks for the advice. I'll double my dose of magnesium & potassium and I'll try skipping an injection. I suppose if I don't notice any difference after skipping the injection then I can assume that HCG plays no part in my weight-loss?

Barb has said it's very tough to hit muscle in the thigh with a 1" needle. I'm doing 200 iu IM in my thighs with a 1 1/4" needle. Right now, I don't think hcg is playing any part of your weight loss, no. But lets see if we can get the dose right. You don't have to skip in a short round but skipping a day would give us some information to try to help.

i wouldn't do your glut- the only safe place is the upper/outer quadrant, and a 1" needle is too short for that.

It sounds like I may not be doing IM then if a 1" needle is too short for the glute and thigh. I suppose that means I may need 250iu subq. I've skipped the injection today so we'll see what happens.

there are a couple of people on here who have done that. i'm starting to wonder if there really is not much difference between IM and subq in terms of dose. after all, there have been people who have done 125 or 150 sq who have done fine, and others with high doses of IM who have also done well.

with subq all the hcg is absorbed more slowly, it does indeed all get absorbed at some point. and since we're taking it every day, and it takes more than a day to get it out of your system, there really should not be a viable reason for a difference in dose.

so perhaps the clinics that always do sq 200 have not been doing it because it's sq, but because of trudeau's comment that a higher dose is now necessary. just a thought.

I do 125 IU with a 1 inch 25g needle in my thigh (I'm an apple shape and I don't have very much fat on my thighs). I feel the needle penetrating the muscle - I encounter resistance almost like I'm breaking skin but not quite as tough. My hunger was pretty much gone after 2 VLCDays (I'm on day 27 now). One of the reasons I picked IM vs. SubQ is I wanted to do the "simeons prescribed dose" and was worried that I may have to tweak dosage a lot if I tried a different method.

I like Grammy's suggestion of going down to 125 after skipping a day - that would be a good way to tell if your dose has been a bit high and then you can go up from there as needed.

    Update:

I skipped my injection today and I feet exactly the same as every other day (it's evening over herein the UK). What can I conclude from that?

I don't think you can conclude anything yet - if you are sure you are hitting muscle with your IM - dose at 125 tomorrow and see how you do - from there Grammy and the other experts can help you go up from there if needed.
