I am craving banana peppers!!!!! I need some spice in my life!!! LOL - would it be acceptable to add 1 0r 2 diced rings to my lettuce/chicken salad?? I am not veering from the plan at all otherwise.... I am just having trouble with the flavorless lettuce.

    So, whatta you think???

I have them occasionally. Just don't overdo. It's like pickles.. loads of sodium.

This may have been answered before, and I'm sorry...I am at work and I don't have time to read through all the posts...still new to this. I'm vlcd1 phase 2

Is regular mustard or dijon mustard ok...like French's?? Also spice wise.....there are a TON of different Mrs. Dash Salt Free flavors....are these ok? Do I just look for sugar or would it be listed undersomething else that I need to look out for? I'm specifically thinking of the fiesta Lime and the Lemon Pepper.

    Beth,

You are a godsend and a wealth of information. I just finished R1P2D6. I am taking subq injections and B-12/buckshot injections (once per week). I am frustrated that I only lost 3 pounds (from initial weigh-in, pre-loading )this first week (also lost the 2 pounds I gained during loading). I am wondering if it is the way I am cooking my food. I have been using the George Foreman grill for chicken and tilapi, my protein of choice. I am lightly spraying with Pam so as not to stick. also using the Pam in the pan when I saute fresh spinach with garlic, salt, and pepper. I am drinking a ton of water daily (usually 5 to 6 Ozarka bottles). Is using the Pam okay and am I drinking too much water? I am 53, been thru menopause, and take synthroid. Any thoughts? Everyone else seems to have much larger losses their first week.

    Hi Beth,

I forgot to ask in my last post: at lunch I eat a green salad with lettuce, cucumber, and add my chicken on top. I make a dressing from balsamic vinegar, water, lemonjuice, and 1 packet of stevia. Is this dressing allowed? And is it allowed to have the cucumber and lettuce? Sometimes I add a few cherry tomatoes too. I just can't eat plain lettuce but I know the original protocol calls for only 1 vegetable. The quantity I eat is not large ( about 2 cups lettuce and 5 slices of cucumber) so I figured it was okay.

I would stop using the Pam and see if that helps. 64 to 80 ounces of water a day is good. Your thyroid may slow your losses some. Look at the label of the balsamic for sugars. That could be a culprit also. Some people fudge and mix veggies and some don't.

Were you eating healthy before starting the diet? Often people that have been on a fairly low carb diet before starting hcg don't see the big first week losses which are comprised partially of water.

Thanks for your help Beth. I just checked the Balsamic and both brands I have do have 2G of sugar. Never thought about that since I thought vinegars were allowed. Do you know of a balsamic without sugar? What do you put on a salad? I think I would choke down a dry salad. I really wasn't eating low carb before diet but fairly low fat. I think my body just wants to hold onto my fat for some reason. I never had a problem with weight loss until the last year or so. I went from 128 to 158 in a year and a half. I am motivated to stick it out though.

I typically use Braggs Apple Cider vinegar with some water and spices. I also make a sweet mustard dressing with French's yellow mustard, water and stevia.

Stick it out.. you may have a fabulous week 2.

Try adding a bit of apple cider vinegar and some seasonings like oregano, thyme, parsley anything else p2 approve. It gives it a "kick"

I also recommend checking your bathroom products. I had a slow first week (relatively of course) so I talked to my doctor who had me check ingredients in everything. Turns out my deodorant has a lot of shea butter in it! I switched to another brand and have lost 1.8lbs in the past 2 days. Just something to consider.

I know that you can drink coffee, but my question is what about "flavored" coffees? For example, I have some coffee that has hints of almost caramel flavor. Any thoughts?

It varies from brand to brand. I have a keurig coffee maker and there are K-cups that are flavored that are P2 friendly
