The formula to find ( and verify) dose is:

    6,000iu divided by 12ml = 500 IUs per ml

then divide the dose you want by the strength you just got.

    125 divided by 500 = .25 or 25 on your U-100 syringe

Leez ~ Had a quick 10-15 mins to myself so I did the mixing. But.... you know what I failed to do... I didn't withdrawl air from the mixing vial. I don't know what I was thinking, I did the addition of air to the bac vial I was withdrawing from but then I withdrew the amount I was supposed to and just put it in the hcg vial, rolled that, and then added air to that vial before pulling out the liquid and then I just put that liquid in the empty mixing vial and did the same until I had a total of 12ml in the mixing vial. After I was done with everything, I realized I didn't withdrawl the 12cc of air from the mixing vial. When I go to inject tomorrow, should I first withdraw 12 cc of air and then put in the same amount of air I plan to withdrawl? Nothing went shooting out of the vial when I did this. Ugh...that is what I get for rushing to do it! Darn... I thought I was being so careful! Please advise!

    Thank you!

It is SO easy to mess up when you don't allow plenty of extra time (more than you think you will need) so you can stop and think between each step. I guess you found that out!

You are correct that you still have to equalize the pressure in your mixing vial.

Because you did not withdraw air from your mixing bottle before adding all the liquid, you have an extra 12ml of pressure added to the sterile mixing vial now, you definitely should take that extra air out BEFORE you upend the bottle to withdraw your first dose. If you've kept your mixing needle sterile, you can use it for this. If not, you'll need to use a new mixing needle.

The reason it didn't shoot out before is because your bottle wasn't upside down. It is when the liquid is in contact with the rubber stopper that your HCG mixture can squirt out if you don't equalize the pressure first. So yes, withdraw 12ml air.

After you have equalized the pressure using your mixing needle, and before you withdraw your first dose with your injection needle, use your injection needle to put air in the same amount as your dose in first to keep the pressure stable.

    To clarify:
Once you've injected the .25 (25) amount of air with your U-100 syringe, leave the needle in the bottle, upend the bottle and withdraw your dose. It should almost push into the syringe on its own. It at least should be easy to draw if the equalization was done correctly.

Hopefully the above is detailed enough so that you have a clear picture of what you need to do.

Question Leez ~ I have been reading on this thread trying to find info on storing the vial after it has been mixed. I ran across a thread that said HCG can be affected by light so store it in a box or wrap it in foil? Is that the same for the hcg after it is mixed? I just have it in my fridge in the 30ml sterile vial I mixed it in. Is that ok or should I wrap it in foil? The refridgerator is dark when the doors are closed, just not when it's open. Curious your opinion. ~ thanks!

Yes, you want to protect your HCG mixture from any kind of constant light.

It probably will be fine, since as you mention, the refrigerator is dark most of the time.

Most people put their mixture in in another opaque container or wrap with foil out of an abundance of caution. But if your fridge is a grand central station in your house, it may get more light than you imagine.

Leez ~ That is true! I will try and find a little box that it will fit into. Not sure why but I want to say I heard something negative about wrapping it in foil?

I'm not aware of any problem with wrapping it in foil.

I wrap the vials in foil, out of an abundance of caution, and itís always been fine. I store the vial in the top door shelf that has a cover (butter shelf?) so it doesnít fall out when opening the door. I just leave the top open and cover from the neck down so I can still draw from the vial. Basically just cover any of the glass part and leave the metal collar/plug exposed.

Yes, I wrapped my hcg in foil as well, just saw this. Always worked for me.

You can also get amber vials to mix into and that will also protect your HCG from light. It mine from eBay, seems to be the cheapest. Just make sure they are sterile.
