Thread: How long Postpartum can I start?

How long Postpartum can I start?

I had a baby 4 weeks ago and am not going to continue breastfeeding due to low supply and various other reasons.

I have roughly 45 pounds to lose and would like to start the hcg diet ASAP.

Are there any guidelines for how long I need to wait? I see lots of opinions online, but no real basis for the opinions. Grammy, Leez, do you see any issues with starting around 6 weeks postpartum? Anyone?

We generally recommend you wait until you are done breastfeeding. Since you are no longer breastfeeding, you should be fine to start at 6 weeks.

Pregnancy HCG levels usually drop to normal 3-4 weeks after the birth, but might stay high longer for some. (It could be 8 weeks or more.) You could do a pregnancy test to make sure before starting your round. If you get a positive result it would be good to wait a bit longer so that you are in a normal hormonal state when you begin.

Also, if you happen to start your period, it is better to get through that and then start, so that you don't have to deal with 2 of them during your round.

Congrats on your new little one!

Thank you so much for the quick reply. This makes perfect sense. I will test to make sure the HCG is out of my system.

I had great success with this diet before and look forward to doing it again!!
