PSA: Do NOT be afraid of IM (intramuscular) injections

For anyone who is considering IM injections instead of subq, I wanted to relay my experience since I was completely terrified and intimidated by the thought of it but found myself in a position where it was IM or no longer having HCG as a tool since my subq dose had gotten so low. I am very sensitive to HCG and my dose when I started this was only 105. Gradually, over subsequent rounds I have had to reduce my dose to get to the sweet spot and was currently at/around 85 but was having trouble finding the sweet spot this time around. It usually only took a couple of days to find it, but this round I couldnít quite get to that perfect spot and started having low level hunger each day. Nothing unmanageable, but also not ideal or the easiest way to finish a round especially without concerns about stabilizing, which I have already had even during perfect rounds. Since I knew I was at or close to the absolute bottom that Grammy had cited (80) before, and had remembered her mentioning IM as an option to me previously because of my low dose, I came back to research and refresh my memory on IM. In addition to searching here I also googled ďintramuscular self injection) and found some super helpful YouTube videos on how to do it correctly, this one especially: https://youtu.be/-oi9QIMtD4M
I had some long (1 1/2Ē) needles that I use for mixing and they were 27 gauge so I decided that was it, I was going to face my fear and just do it the next morning. That was yesterday. I injected in the upper/outer hip and to my shock and delight, the needle slid right in like a hot knife through butter and there was barely even a pinch or stick feeling like you have with subq. I was AMAZED! I injected at the recommended amount of 125, which also scared me since it is so much higher than even my highest/starting subq dose - but Grammy has never steered me wrong so I went with it and it was fine. I still had some low level hunger through the afternoon but it got better around 4 and I was fine at night. This morning I did the IM injection again at 125 and it went easily again and am doing well on hunger. Itís nice to be back to a comfortable spot and know that I wonít have to end my round early and that I have a better chance of stabilizing once the round is over since my dose has been corrected.

All that is a very long way to sum up what I put in the title: If you arenít doing well on subq and need an alternative, DO NOT BE AFRAID OF IM. Itís so easy and painless. Donít let fear hold you back from trying it. Itís only been 2 days, but it truly has been magic for me since I was facing the very real possibility of never being able to do HCG again.

I'm so glad it's going well! IM is the original method and it doesn't seem to build up in the body the way SQ can.
