Question Question for Women who have been Pregnant: Real Concern, or Simple Excuse?

So, I have a couple of friends who have told me "I wish I could do your diet, but my nausea in pregnancy was so bad, I'm afraid to touch that stuff with a ten-foot pole." They both struggle with their weight, and are constantly jumping from one diet to the next, ever seeking the next solution, and not able to stick with any plan for long...

I have never been pregnant. The closest I've ever gotten to pregnancy is being on HHCG. So, I am asking experienced peeps.

Is their concern a genuine one? Is there a track record of people who have had bad nausea during pregnancy quitting HCG/HHCG because of nausea? Or is it, like I suspect, just a handy excuse not to try the one thing that might really work?

Just for the record, no part of this journey is for the weak.

I have been pregnant 3 times and this doesn't affect me ANYTHING like pregnancy nausea. But again, that's me :-) I haven't had one bout of nausea since beginning this program, with the exception of a couple of headaches that caused nausea the first couple of days

I had massive nausea with each of mine. One so bad I lost 15lbs in 2 weeks, not a fun way to lose weight. The HHCG/HCG is not strong enough to produce those symptoms even in sensitive people. I know I read a lot about it mimicing pregnancy but that's not really true. With real pregnancy you can get the nausea, tired, you lactate LOL. Remember this is a low enough dose guys can take it with no issues too.

I would tell them to come read up and then leave it up to them. Maybe they aren't ready for such a restrictive plan.

I've had three pregnancies, each time with nausea/vomiting the entire pregnancy. My first round, at the very beginning, I had some nausea and gagging like when pregnant, but it didn't last the entire round - just in the beginning. This second round was much better and didn't have much nausea at all.

It is typically not HCG that causes nausea in pregnancy. It is the increased progesterone. My doctor called it "progesterone poisoning".

Agreed. It's progesterone that causes nausea. I've been pregnant with hyperemesis. I've done IVF and given myself a 10,000 iui injection of hCG and had no problem and I am never nauseous on this diet.

I was very nauseous when I was doing the progesterone injections and suppositories during IVF even though it turned out I was *not* pregnant.

I've been pregnant 7 times. Only 6 of them did I have severe nausea or vomiting. My 6th pregnancy (my last child) I was so sick I didn't gain a single pound until the 3rd trimester. It's not the hcg that makes you sick, it's progesterone. Oops, just saw that posted. Either they just don't know that or they are not ready to do something like this.

The hCG has to build in the blood usually before nausea really sets in. For this protocol it's a therapeutic dose so not enough to really induce nausea or other pregnancy symptoms. I never dealt with nausea with my girls. I had the occasional queasy feeling, but some of that was related to food aversion. I had bad nausea with my first son, but it didn't kick in until 6 weeks when my hCG levels were in the 20,000+ range. I had some queasiness with my second son starting around that time.

That is a genuine concern, however if they research the diet versus the actual HCG produced during pregnancy they will find out that the HCG during pregnancy is much higher then the HCG dosage we use. That is another reason why our chances of becoming pregnant is not increased like a lot of people worry about. Just advise them to research it, thats what I did.

I'll just add my own experience, which mimics others. I had SEVERE nausea and vomiting through my pregnancy. Every single morning I threw up...all the way until I gave birth.

The only time I have been nauseas on this diet is when I chugged a liter of warm-ish water and took a vitamin with my daily antidepressant. I came to find out taking the vitamin and lexapro together is not a good idea!

    Highest non-pregnant weight: 286
Goal...157 (I still have an "overweight" BMI at this point...but I look good anyway!)
