Question skipping P4 (extending P3 instead)

    Hi everyone,

I'm 40 days in of a 46-day round. 21lbs gone so far (slow loser from hypothyroidism and IR/prediabetes, 0.5lbs is my typical) I've done rounds in the past and have always gained in P4, I just lose control of my eating My latest blood tests for fasting glucose, insulin and A1C now show prediabetic levels (right before I started this round) and my Dr. recommended a ketogenic diet but with 50g/carbs a day because of my thyroid. My insulin level was over the upper limit, and this was fasting!

I need to lose another 10lbs to reach my goal of 145lbs for 5'6". Before I became hypothyroid I was 140lbs most of my adult life, so I don't think it's overreaching. I was thinking of doing 8 weeks of P3 after this round, and then going back for another 28-day round afterwards. I haven't cheated at all this round (my blood tests scared me straight) but I feel I need more time off sugar and carbs to overcome my addiction.

Has anyone else done something similar, would you mind sharing? I don't think you could call this cycling since I'm not doing 2 weeks on/1 week off etc. I just want to skip P4 and the carbs for a while longer.

    Thanks!

There is no rule about delaying the introductions of starch and sugars after P3.

It's fine to stay in P3 until your next round.

If the next round is your second or third, then 8 weeks total between is in keeping with the protocol rules.

Thanks so much Leez! I feel reassured now I'm hoping that a prolonged no-carb phase of several months (carbs as in grains and sugar) will help improve my insulin sensitivity; and I don't feel ready to deal with playing food sensitivity detective right now (I'm pretty sure wheat and corn are problematic for me)

Another thing that would help tremendously with your blood sugar issues is chromium. This is the one that has always worked best for me: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks Grammy that product looks very interesting. My Dr. told me to take 200mcg of Chromium with each meal; I bought the Now Foods brand but it doesn't have the B3 co-factor in it.

My fasting glucose was 107 this morning after 40 days of P2, I was so discouraged. It's been fluctuating between 92-110. Before P2 it was 115-120. Was really hoping to see the 80's

You might look into berberine as well. In clinical trials it performed as well as metformin in reducing insuling resistance markers.

That particular chromium lowered my A1C from 5.8 to 4.8. In about 2 months. I tried the other stuff but it didn't do a thing.

I just ordered the Superior Labs chromium, thanks Grammy! I'm very hopeful that I'll see some good results. Leez I do take berber (Thorne brand), but I can only take a 200mg dose or I get bad digestive issues.

I took my last P2 shot yesterday; 24lbs in 44 days. I decided to cut my round 2 days short, since TOM is around the corner and I didn't want the water weight gain to mess up my LIW. I'm pleased with my results
