For Vegetarians!!!! What's the Low Down on Getting Essential Proteins for this Diet?

Okay so I've read through a lot of the vegetarian posts on this site (and others), and I still have not been able to figure out some things concerning protein for the HCG diet. So I'm calling all my vegetarian protein experts for some knowledge here!

I went to Whole foods today to get some Protein Powder. I had no clue of what to look for. How many carbs/fat/protein/sugar etc, etc. I bought nothing.

So my 1st question. How many grams of protein a day should Vegetarians be shooting for while on this HCG diet? (I've heard one say 70g. Wow!!) It seems that with the list of Protein options for vegetarians (eggs, cottage cheese, etc), I am unsure how to pull that off?
In a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese there is only like 8g-12g or so of Protein? 12g twice a day is not even scratching the surface for what is needed. However, I've heard some say they do eggs and cottage cheese and have had great results.

Also, I would like to use Protein Powders. But not sure which ones to choose? I know they say to choose low carbs/fat, but how low? Can I have more than 1 scoop at each meal (In order to get enough protein for the day) as long as I do go over the 500 calories?

Don't mean to make it sound so complicated, I just would like someone(s) to clarify this for me.

    Thanks HCG Family!!

This was the list of vegetarian protein substitutes I was given and it has worked for me:

(follow all recommended serving sizes on package)
Ezekiel Bread (May want to wait until maintenance and only eat one slice)
    Quinoa (Wait till maintenance)
GNC Pro Performanace AMP Amplified Whey Protein - Vanilla
Pro Energy Natural Whey Protein Isolate - Vanilla
Nasoya Organic Tofu: all plain forms, Chinese Spice, Garlic & Onion, all Lite forms, Silken
MorningStar Farms Tomato & Basil Pizza Burgers
    MorningStar Farms Grillers Original
MorningStar Farms Grillers Chik'n Veggie Patties
    MorningStar Farms Garden Veggie Patties
    Quorn Naked Chick'n Cutlets

I have also used the peppered Tofurky slices (you can find them at Whole Foods) on one slice of Ezekial 4:9 bread, and had the Quorn Turk'y roast. You just need to make sure that the protein substitue follows these guidelines:
    Calories: 80-120
    Carbs: 0-8g
    Sugars: 0-1g
    Fat: 0-5g
    Protein: 8-25g

I have braved the milk only once, by adding half water, half milk to a protein shake. Still lost, but don't think I'd try it often. I am R1P2D31 and have lost 25 pounds. I do eat fish though and try to eat some form of fish or seafood each day rather than all soy products as they slow weight loss.

I'm not a vegetarian, so I don't pretend to know what's best, but I've read many posts in the non-vegetarian forums (haven't ever gone to that one yet) about people using either the whey or egg-white Jay Robb protein shakes as a substitute for one of their meals (or as an addition if they exercise a lot). I think it's available at GNC or online. Just thought I'd throw it out there in case it's an appropriate protein for vegetarians.
    R1 Pounds -26, Inches -22
    R2 Pounds -20
R3 Pounds -10 (stopped early, my head wasn't in it)
    R4 Pounds -8.4 (in progress)

    Thanks for the Tips Guys!!

    @ Melody-

Thanks so much for having a list of substitutes along with some Calorie/Carb/Protein/Sugar Guidelines. Very helpful. Also, congratulations on your losses!

I am vegetarian by choice, but I do occasionally eat eggs, & canned tuna. Actually, that would make me not totally vegetarian. Anyway, do you think the canned tuna (or any of the other allowed fish) would be appropriate for this diet? I don't really want to deal with fish because of all the weighing and such, but if I could go canned I might consider it.
I notice you mentioned to follow the recommended serving sizes on the packages. Do you mean that which ever product I choose I should only get (1) of the serving sizes ?

    Thanks.

    @ Vondalyn-

Thanks also, for your comments. It's odd you mention the Jay Robb. I was just looking that up last night on Amazon. Yes, I too have heard of people using Jay Robb Drinks. Since I do eat eggs, I might consider using his Egg White Powder (need to do my research first).

Does anyone know if its okay to have more than one serving (scoop) of the protein powder as long as we stay within 500 calories/day?

Thanks again Melody & Vondalyn for your help. I am supposed to start loading this Sunday. I am so excited (and nervous).
