Angry Two Weeks into P4 and back at LIW - WOW!!!

    Hello Everyone,

I've been away for about a week due to having to leave town for a family emergency. I had just started P4 at the time I left, and was very nervous about going around my food-loving no diets allowed here family. I can report that while I was away, everyone was pretty grief strickened and ate whatever they wanted. I admittedly binged on fried chicken, sugar cookies, homemade pound cake & peach cobbler, and even met four girlfriends for a DOUBLE SCOOP hot fudge sundae at Culver's (I also know dairy is not good to me). I worked with these ladies 35 years ago at my first job out of college. They are 7-10 years older than me, so all of them are now retired & one of them had just been released from the hospital for observation an hour before she showed up at Culver's - WTF.

Anywho, all they could say upon seeing me was that I looked like a teenager, and how can they get my look. I also saw a lot of family friends at a gathering the day before that I hadn't seen in many years who kept asking how I'm staying so thin and youthful. Meanwhile in the back of my mind all I could think was that you people don't know how I'm going to be ready to scream and jump out the window when I get home and step on the scale and see that I've gained 10 lbs. since I left home. I decided to just fast the day after the binge, then eat clean the following day. Lo and behold, I stepped on the scale the next morning and was totally shocked that I was back at my LIW at the end of P2 which ended just a month ago.

Boy - what a relief!!!! I'm usually not a sweets person, but for some reason sadness and grief caused the sugar monster to swing my way too.

Usually when I have that feeling that I gained 10 pounds, I'm right. I'm glad it worked out for you this time. It wasn't just luck, though.

You really did take charge with your correction strategy, so its great that you have something that works for you.

I also didn't have a scale available at the family member's house, so that made it even scarier.

So sorry about your loss, Coco. There's something about grief and stress that makes us seek out carbs to soothe our adrenals. So glad it worked out for you!

I appreciate everyone's condolences, and am glad I was able to get back on track/ back to normal.

Eating the peach cobbler really made me feel better at the time. Even though it's not something I've ever liked or eaten (I don't care for cooked peaches), I had two helpings of it, since the homemade crust was so good! It was my deceased family member's favorite dessert, so perhaps that's why I didn't feel bad, and actually enjoyed it, since it brought back good memories of him
