I found this thread 2 days after starting my current round. This is EXACTLY what I needed! I've had some health issues including MCS and a very sore ankle for 2 years. The more I gained, the more it hurt. So I kept gaining as I could barely go for a walk anymore. But, as I was researching a cure for MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity), I started to understand more about the brain--including sugar cravings. That led me to read up on eating more healthy fats to lose weight (i.e. "Fat for Fuel"). My goal was to take off as much weight (again) as I could using HCG then switch to a higher fat diet for P3--basically not eating fruit or breads so I could maintain my weight longer term.
So, after 16 days of
VLCD on mostly 2.0, I have lost 15 pounds. By doing 2.0, I am basically putting myself into Ketosis NOW rather than waiting until I'm done with P2. I am allowed 635 Protein calories plus 130 Carb calories. I am having trouble eating that much as I hit my HCG "sweet spot" at 112 IU and am feeling content (and it came from ReliableRX) I don't even feel like I'm on a diet. It feels more like I'm just eating clean--no M&M's! This is the first round of HCG that I haven't had meltdowns or hissy fits at my hubby.
I finally decided to go to an acupuncturist for my ankle pain last week. One treatment and my ankle is almost back to normal. Should've gone much sooner! And I figured out how to reverse my MCS...it's a very real disorder that comes from the amygdala part of the brain. There's a process called "Brain Retraining" that actually worked for me! So I'm walking again and going anywhere I want without a mask again.
I was here years ago and I remember so many questions about certain foods available today that weren't around or on original
protocol. The original
protocol was guarded and defended with religious fervor so I did my best to stay on protocol lest I anger the HCG gods! This 2.0 is so logical and reasonable. It addresses every debate about Protein Powder, Tuna, Diet Pop, Hand Lotion and Lip Balm. Even though I've seen others on 2.0 here that have eaten salmon and coconut oil, I have not yet added those because I've been fine without them. I've been eating lots of Mahi Mahi, Cod, Skip Jack tuna and big salads with mixed greens and veggies along with Creamy Ranch Dressing made with Cottage Cheese and Fage plus seasonings. And I've been eating lean HAM on my salads as well! 2.0 is amazing. I could never go back to unnecessary protein deprivation while eating empty calorie breadsticks and so much fructose from fruit. I read that fructose negates HGH--especially within 2 hours of exercise. I want to stay in ketosis and heal and that's what motivates me to not eat the fruit. I also take all my regular supplements each day. We've learned so much about food composition since Simeon was alive. His protocol was based on trial and error experimentation. He did quite well with the limitations he had. And I appreciate his research immensely. But if he was here today, I think he'd tell us to fast forward to the 21st Century and use our common sense.
