This diet is not too hard to follow. If you don't have the book, just download the app, and it has the chart with the foods listed in order of highest protein. The book is quite cheap on amazon, though, and just use the kindle app to read it.
I am doing it this time around. I thought I would try it for a change. I figured I would just switch back to original protocol after the first or second week, if I noticed it not working. But it is working, and like the Original Protocol, I don't get alarmed if I don't lose for a day or so, as I know I am losing inches instead of pounds.
I just eat the foods on the chart. I have had chicken, pork loin, and tuna is mostly what I eat. For breakfast I add Trim Healthy Mama Pristine Whey Protein powder to my coffee.
Just use the BMR calculator to find out how many calories your allowed a day. I then use the My Fitness App to add my foods daily and see where I am at. I don't have any fruits as they are not allowed, and still mostly just use the Vegetables from the Original protocol. You don't need to add the calories of the veggies if you keep your carbs lower than 30 grams a day. So you can eat quite a bit if you want too.
I have ate broccoli and a bit of cauliflower. I use my seasonings, lemon juice, a vinaigrette ( in the hcg recipes for p2) and a balsamic vinegar.
I haven't added the MCT oil, and feel no need to.
I still drink my two litres of water, but like that you can have zero calorie drinks if you want to.
Also if hungry I have a lean protein snack before bed, either another protein drink or Mcsweeney's Turkey jerky, as it has sugars etc in it. Dr. Zach believes it helps you sleep and feeds cellular repair and maintenance.
I mostly agree with the Original Protocol myself as it works, but wanted to try this and see how it goes, and so far it has been good. I am three weeks in on P2. I more week to go.

I use intermountain pellets, and Dr. Zach even believes in hhcg. He has only found that the real hcg injections are sometimes best when trying to lose that last stubborn 15 lbs, that some people have issues with.
