    HCG 2.0 started Round 1 P 2 Nov 23, 2018

    Hi there,

    I just started first round in YEARS doing the 2.0 protocol and I'm on Day 3 today.

    Hi Megan,

    I hope you have a great round! I do 3.0 because I my regular diet is keto - but 2.0 is much easier then the original protocol for sure!

    So far it is going well. I'm not hungry, and I have trouble eating all the calories I'm supposed to. I love that I am getting more protein. On original protocol I would get weak, no issues with that!

    I'm planning on this being a longer round so I will be skipping a shot on day 7. I'm usually keto, so this version fits with me well. It will train me to eat what I want to be eating anyway.

    Today is Day 7. I'm down 1.6 lbs. from my starting weight. I chose to eat festive foods during Thanksgiving so I got to get rid of that weight first (4 lbs.) Yesterday was my first skipped shot, and it was no problem at all. One day this past week I could only manage to eat 520 calories!

    I figure my numbers will be slower than most, and I'm okay with that because I know it works.
    ** I just stopped Metformin 3 - 4 days ago, and my fasting blood sugar is staying low. I just didn't want it going too low, so coming off that medication might slow down my numbers.
    ** I just had minor surgery on my leg (varicose veins) on Monday and I know I have a lot of inflammation going on, so that will probably slow down my numbers as well.
    ** I'm also hypothyroid, and on medication, and that tends to just slow things down.

    The big thing that I can't stress enough is that especially the 2.0 version, I am changing my eating habits. The foods I am eating now I'll be eating for the rest of my life. Meat and vegetables. Some day I might be more low carb than keto, and that isn't right now. With the metabolic syndrome kicking in, I watched my body change shape while my weight didn't change and that was disturbing. Same weight, and all of a sudden my clothes aren't fitting any longer. I had a stomach that I never used to have and my waist disappeared.

    When I was low/carb keto before, I was only counting net carbs, and I think that was a big mistake. I love some of the protein bars from kirkland, and they had 22 total carbs, and only 5 net carbs. When you eat 2 - 3 of those a day, I don't think there's any way for my blood sugar to handle it properly. I even knew I was getting a sugar rush from them and kept eating them anyway. Sigh.

    I'm still here, and still trucking along.

    Hi Megan,

    Some people can eat more carbs, I limit mine to 20 total, not net. I also track my calories, I eat too fast and miss the "satiety" signal. I find I am most successful when I eat whole, unprocessed food. It takes more time to prepare my meals, but I do big batches and reheat in the microwave.

    I don't lose weight on keto, but I do maintain well.

    December 1st. I took my second set of measurements today.
    When I started loading, my weight was 202.8.
    11/24 was my first low-calorie day and I was at 206.4. I gained 4 lbs. in water weight eating crap, basically.
    12/1 my weight is 200.4.

    So although I've only lost a couple of pounds, the big thing is that I'm down 7 inches through my waist, belly, and hips in one week!
    Since I have a scale that computes body fat percentage and a host of other things here's the real reason for doing hcg...
    My body fat percentage has dropped by .6% or 1.2 pounds, and my muscle mass has increased.

    As far as I'm concerned, the true magic of hcg is that it preserves lean body mass.

    Sorry I missed a week. I'm still going. I measured on the 6th for some reason instead of the 7th. on 12.6 I was at 197.4, and I was down another 5.8 inches. I'll post tomorrow when I get my next set of measurements. I've been lingering in the 195s (195.2, 195.7, 195.5, etc.,) so I'm expecting more inches than pounds for this week. I am so okay with that!

    Hunger is no issue until the day before I'm supposed to skip a shot. Thank you Grammy for explaining that! The hunger is hitting in the morning so it is because my dose is too high, and skipping a shot fixes that issue. I'm pulling each shot on a daily basis so I could reduce my dose, and I don't think I need to. Skipping the shot seems to fix it.

    End of Week 3

    I'm down 12 lbs. and 14.2 inches. The only time I feel hunger is the day before I skip a shot. Now I know what it is and it is much easier to deal with. Next day, no shot, no hunger!

    I finally found the Bolthouse dressings and I'm trying those. 45 calories in 2 tablespoons. Yum. The base is yogurt for the creamy dressings. I also have an occasional sip of wine.

    I'm never over-eating which is wonderful. I'm satisfied when I' done. I have a premier protein shake for an afternoon snack if I need one, or a serving of meat and that works fine. I'm hammering home that this is a lifestyle change. I'll be adding fats and more vegetables when I'm not on P2, and this is my normal eating for the rest of my life.

    This will take as long as it takes. I'm breaking negative eating habits and creating new ones.

    What I didn't say and should have, is on the day before I skip a shot, I tend to eat lower calorie/fat foods so I can increase my volume. Lots of spinach! Food that takes longer to eat so I start to get those satiety signals before I even stop eating.

    Still going. End of week 4, I'm down 14.8 lbs. and 19.5 inches total, 5 off my waist and 6 off my belly!
    Non-scale victories:
    I am now more of a cylinder shape instead of an apple. That's huge. That's a reversal of metabolic syndrome!
    I can tie my shoes easily, or reach down to the floor to pick something up.
    I can breathe bending over.
    I can wear my pants again! In fact, I seem to have bypassed my largest pair and will have to retire them.
    I no longer need my bra extender.

    I'm averaging 800 calories a day. Food is getting kind of boring, I think I'm going to have to take some time to dig out some old recipes. I'm still plugging in random meat and random vegetable. I've been eating brisket for the past week, trimmed, mind you, and I'm still losing well. 3 lbs. this week and over 5 inches. I'm still planning on this being a long round.

    Megan - Great Job on your round so far! Those NSVs are almost more exciting than watching the numbers drop, aren't they?

    You also have a great mental attitude about this being a lifestyle change! It certainly is! A change that you can make! Good luck to you and keep us updated!
