LOL I am using coconut oil in R2P2 as well - working like a charm and satisfying cravings.![]()
I can guarantee you that if you take 2 tablespoons of coconut oil during phase 2 you WILL lose weight.
Coconut oil is a medium chain triglyceride oil which your body treats completely COMPLETELY different from regular oils (like olive oil, peanut oil, canola etc)
in fact I don't want to get into much details but you can read an article about MCT oils here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medium-chain_triglycerides
I did my first round of hCG with no oils at all whatsoever, it was hard but dooable..
When I found out about coconut oil I used it and NO AFFECTS whatsoever to my losses. I came here from another forum where most of the dieters there used coconut oil and ALL OF THEM were reporting losses.
Coconut oil calories DO NOT COUNT and I can repeat that DO NOT AFFECT OR COUNT AT ALL towards your daily limit of 500-800 cals (depending what protocol you are following)
I dare you to take some good quality coconut oil and eat a WHOTE TABLESPOON and tell me you gained weight the next day (but follow the protocol to the T aside from that part LOL ) I can promise you that your body will use it immediately.
I eat coconut oil every day... I have had a weight loss consistently right now of about 1lb x day (I am really fat right now too, it will slow down to .5 - .25 when I get closer to my goal) but seriously, what's with the fear of this very healthy oil???
WHY deprive yourself of such an awesome thing when the diet is already so hard as is? Try this! I fry my egg in it and have a fried egg every once in a while, I've made HCG friendly coconut oil MAYO before, I have friend my chilean seabass (skin on) in coconut oil, friend up some sea scallops and it is soooooo good
you guys are suffering way more than you should.
heheeh Mmm.... I am about to go look for some sea scallops because that sounds darned good right now...
c'mon guys and gals... stop suffering more than you should... join me in my MCT celebration and enjoy yourself some quality food and gain back some flavors..
btw fry up some shredded up turpip in coconut oil for some "hashbrowns" and you will DIE from how yummy they are ;-)

Sorry, you're wrong. For younger, healthier people you might be okay but for those whom the protocol is DESIGNED for--those of us with broken metabolisms--we gain weight. I've tried it.

And quite honestly, I really have a problem with your very emphatic statement about how you WILL lose weight. You are leading people astray, people who haven't been around as long as some of us have. We veterans have seen it all. MANY gain if we even use coconut oil on our skin, let alone ingest it. I realize you're young and enthusiastic about the protocol. I'm enthusiastic as well but for the best chances TO KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF it's best to follow the protocol without variation. In three years here on the forum, I've seen thousands and thousands of people go through this forum and many of them end up regaining their weight and are right back here for a do-over. I don't want to have people having to do a do-over. I love coconut oil and highly recommend it but only for P3 and beyond.
So use at your own risk. It's not on protocol, not in any fashion. I wish it were. I love my coconut oil.![]()

I have tried both coconut oil and MCT oil and I did not lose weight. I gained and then stalled.

Love thishey no biggie here but one can't attribute their weight gain or stall to the coconut oil, there are factors as to those stalls apart from coconut oil (unless you are drinking it like water HAHA) it's hard to take that much coconut oil in the first place! You ever been to hcgsupportgroup dot com? it is an old site and I don't think it is really much active at all but if you check all those girls out who are using coconut oil (some in their early 20s some in their late 70s) every one of them has had great results, soooo sorry I am not a young enthusiastic person I just feel confident that one can enjoy this durring P2 no problem and IF they do experience a stall I would look into OTHER things other than the coconut oil, OR question the true quality of the coconut oil. Some companies mix things into their oils to stretch their dollar out.
The only other time that I would THINK you would have issues with this is if you have OTHER health conditions (like a damaged liver) that cannot process many things properly due to being burdened by too many medications, I know a couple people who take tons of medications who's body cannot benefit from many supplements due to their liver being damaged![]()
From time to time I"ve used the slightest smidge (less than 1 tsp) of MCT in a pan when cooking chicken that would otherwise plaster itself to the pan without ill effects, but more than that and I have the same effects Beth describes.
aaaaactually now that I am looking at people talking about MCT I am wondering wtf it is? Is it just coconut oil? I know coconut oil is a MCT oil but I have no clue what exactly MCT is I remember a girl at the other board talking about it but she never really mentioned what it was, she just said it was from some hCG diet clinic that sold it to her, sooo I have no experience with actual MCT oil but I have experience with Coconut oil and have cooked with it for several people who have already successfully entered phase 4 a couple years back. I gotta look into this MCT stuff more closely I thought MCT meant Medium Chain Triglyceride oil and therefore could be lumped up with Coconut oil since it is a MCT ho hum....
Sooo question then,
IF it works for you why stop? It either works or not and I am not sure the % of effectiveness since I see three people so far who have essentially been scared enough to stay away from it :P but so far I am lucky enough (and everyone so far who I've cooked for) to still lose weight while on the protocol and enjoy things that would otherwise be considered naughty![]()
Coconut mayo tastes better with the refined organic coconut oil since the refining process removes the coconut flavor and therefore your mayo wont taste coconuty, although that would be really tasty with some shrimp (mmmmm)
I don't think anyone is suggesting you stop using coconut oil, given your success with it there is no need to, however everyone is different and not all of us do well with it in P2, just as some don't do well with both pieces of fruit or melba and some are just fine. It is really what works for the individual that matters and perhaps your blanket statement that ALL should use it and they WILL lose is irresponsible given you can not guarantee that anymore than I can guarantee it will cause a gain or stall. I think it is great that you enjoy and use it with success and like any forum we are all entitled to share our journey, though I think we need to keep in mind that many who start on the forums are new to HCG, are confused or struggling initially and it does not help to have these blanket statements made that only confuse the issue. There is a rogue forum that might be more suitable and yes using coconut oil is rogue. Anything that does not follow the protocol of the original HCG diet plan is considered as such. Again, there is nothing wrong with going rogue if it works for you, I do however think it is wrong to give "misinformation" which could see some give up when it doesn't do for them what it does for you. There are many examples from coconut oil to miracle noodles, each to their own, share you own experiences, that is of course your right, telling others what they should do is not at all helpful or mindful of others needs. Just my two cents.

how do you make coconut oil mayo?
Come on people....I get what you are saying...but she did post her post in the "Boxing Ring"....where people offer opposing views.... I think it would be different if she posted in the P2 section...just my opinion...
Excellent point and in truth given the hour of day here and my semi awake state, I did not in fact even notice that, but then again, as you said, the boxing ring is where people are allowed to have opposing views and lively debate, so no harm done, as I said clearly in my last post, each to their own, just think we all need to keep in mind what works for one does not imply it works for all.
