when i tried coconut oil/mct oil it was not in my first round ..not even in my second. I know how my body reacts in P2..even by what week it is. I know the loss pattern I experience based on when and what I'm eating. I know what foods work for me and what don't.

When I try something new it is when leaving all other variables the same. That is the only way to truly test something and be able to say without a doubt that "using X is what caused Y".

yep Beth that's how I approach experimenting with new foods in P2, the first round I did was more religious than the Pope, the second round I had a little experimentation, I did find many foods still worked well for me. I even had a AWESOME pasta that Dreamfields makes, they claim 1/2 cup has 5 carbs and I successfully had 1/4 cup and still reported losses (or course I opted to have that instead of toast which I rarely ever have since I don't like bread much)

as far as coconut mayo goes ahhh... such a treat.... the bad thing is that it make sooooooo frikin much that you would either have to be throwing an hCG cookoff party OR you would have to individually portion them out to refrigerate for later since coconut oil does harden at cooler temperatures.

I know where my eggs come from so I use raw eggs, if you are not confident with your eggs then purchase PASTEURIZED eggs from a local market (hard to find, look in grocery stores near senior housing) and the recipe is quite simple and the tools of the trade are

    an immersion blender
a tall skinny cup (preferably with measurements on it and wide enough for the blender to go in, not too wide)
    200 ml melted coconut oil
2 egg yolks (of 1 whole one and 1 extra yolk)
a little mustard and vinegar (and lemon optional)
    salt and pepper to taste

actually I got the idea and recipe from this awesome video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_qjlbaUMek
it shows you how to make it soo quickly!

it is SOOOOO Frikin good, I made a delicious tuna salad, egg salad, deviled eggs, chicken salad, you name it!

you could always do a PREP-Day where you plan out all the foods that will need mayo in them and just prepare them ahead of time and refrigerate or freeze it for later (yumm)

Yep I came to the boxing ring because I knew this was a touchy subject to bring up on P2 and yes I agree it was a bit overdramatic with me claiming a guarantee (I have nothing to promise in return aside from me saying that haha) but it does help many people cope with the losses of flavor.

Guys seriously though try this if you don't mind one day if you aren't worried about it affecting you either

run a turnip through a food grater like you would hashbrowns, toss a little coconut oil on a pan, and fry up your turnip/hashbrowns season with salt and pepper and eat it with a coconut oil fried egg (over easy) it will be THE best thing you've had in ages on P2

sometimes I split my proteins up to have a little breakfast in the am and then have the rest of my protein for lunch. I suppose it is going "rogue" too bad there isn't a forum called "Going Rogue" LOL!

still confused on the coconut mayo. My coconut oil is always solid unless I microwave it. Do you make it while the coconut oil is warm? and how do you keep it from going solid? I mean it's going to go solid as soon as you put it in the frig...right? What am I missing here? What type/brand of coconut oil do you use?

I must agree with you, and let's all remember, losing weight isn't the be-all and end-all of this protocol. Stabilizing and keeping it off longterm is.
My friend Vicky (and many others) used coconut oil (which is great other than on P2) during her P2 on her third round. She'd been rock-solid stable for the first two rounds, but could NEVER stabilize after that round with Coconut oil. Remember that your very best chance for keeping the weight stable afterwards is to do the protocol AS WRITTEN, not try to see what you can get away with.

Let us know how you stabilize after this experiment. I pray that you do anyway, but the collective experience of the groups I've been in is that you might not.

It is really what works for the individual that matters and perhaps your blanket statement that ALL should use it and they WILL lose is irresponsible given you can not guarantee that anymore than I can guarantee it will cause a gain or stall. I think it is great that you enjoy and use it with success and like any forum we are all entitled to share our journey, though I think we need to keep in mind that many who start on the forums are new to HCG, are confused or struggling initially and it does not help to have these blanket statements made that only confuse the issue. There is a rogue forum that might be more suitable and yes using coconut oil is rogue. Anything that does not follow the protocol of the original HCG diet plan is considered as such. Again, there is nothing wrong with going rogue if it works for you, I do however think it is wrong to give "misinformation" which could see some give up when it doesn't do for them what it does for you. There are many examples from coconut oil to miracle noodles, each to their own, share you own experiences, that is of course your right, telling others what they should do is not at all helpful or mindful of others needs. Just my two cents.

Here is the link for the Rouge Saloon....Many people on that thread use Coconut oil successfully...I have had good losses myself on it, but also did not stabilize well in my first P3. Now that could've been a number of factors (8 day, unplanned interruption, 1 MAJOR cheat day in that round), but I will not rule out that Coconut oil could've been the cause as well. I am now on VLCD4 and am down a total of 5.9#, and have only used minute amounts of CO so far, but I am definitely rogue on a couple of other things. My outlook is, if there is something that makes this diet easier to stick to, without affecting my losses, I will try it, at least once. But again, I will only speak for myself and anytime I have shared my rogue thoughts, I have definitely put on a disclaimer of sorts, that this will not work for everyone and to proceed with EXTREME caution!! With that said....Come over to the Rogue Saloon and have a "drink" of CO!

There are many hcg doctors who believe that fat derails the pathway to the hypothalamus and that is why it's so bad in P2. People can decide for themselves but I just want them warned of the possible consequences. Now if all you care about is losing weight and you don't mind struggling in P3, that's up to you. But I've seen way too many problems to recommend it.

Thanks for the link the the rogue saloon I guess I didn't bother looking at it since it sounded kinda weird at first will check it out, maybe those are my peeps! I did fine my 2nd round while on P3 didn't go up or down more than .5 lbs but when I hit week 3 I went on a cruise with my boyfriend and THAT was my undoing -__- couldn't do a steak day, didn't weigh myself daily, and by the time I got home (understandably. I had gained 5 lbs from my week long escapade) a couple weeks after that we went to hawaii for my Sister's wedding that was another week and there really are rarely any foods in Hawaii that are low carb and sugar free :\ buuuut I decided I don't go to hawaii and let myself go. 1 year later of a hCG vacation I am back to do it right this time well I suppose as "right" as you can be while being "Rogue"

Justgitterdone I heat my coconut oil in the micro to turn it into liquid (takes about 15-20 secs depending how cold it is in your home) then I have the eggs sitting in lukewarm water for a few minutes to get them to room temp so I can have warmer egg yolks, then I follow the instruction in the video i posted and use it almost immediately. It WILL harden in the fridge and IF I haven't gone through it by making all sorts of recipes, then I use it as butter and cook with it. But I typically plan things so that i wont have hardened coconut oil... if you live somewhere warm then you could always pull it out of the fridge 30 minutes before you need it and then it will be spreadable at room temp, but yeah coconut oil does turn hard

    meh.... booooO!!!!!

OK so I checked out that hCG Rogue Saloon... sorry that doesn't work for me I need a BOARD or a category to post at not 1 single 100 page long thread -_- makes it really hard to search thru... is there no way to make an actual Section on the site for the Rogue folk? I simply am (how do you say?) "turned off" at the idea that I have to browse through a 100 page thread just because it contains people in it that are doing something along the same lines I am, doesn't sound easy or fun for me since I only get about 30 minutes x day to go online and check this site out (and I might not be able to every day)

I couldn't agree with you more- the Rogue do need a category, a 500+ thread is ridiculous

RM- what type/brand of coconut oil do you use to make your mayo with?

Is there a difference (nutritionally) between extra virgin coconut oil and refined coconut oil? From what I've researched it looks like no but everyone here has a lot of knowledge so I figured I'd ask around. I hate coconut so even though the extra virgin doesn't have a strong taste it's still too much for me. The refined versions don't taste at all like coconut so if possible that's what I would rather use.

    Ideas?

it might be working.. I know I wont take that chance.. there are so many good spices around that I do not need oil to use on my food..And I am not depriving myself of anything ..far from it..
Actually, after 18 days of the VLCD.. I do not crave really anything anymore..
I just hope that this oil, when people use it. does not undo all the hart work they put into this new body and they gain back

I would rather just not use the oil in P2. I LOVE coconut oil in curry and rice.

Coconut oil is only about 2/3 MCT anyway, so the other 1/3 is just like any other oil (I'm guessing). You could use just MCTs proper (Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride), which you can find in the form of fractionated coconut oil--this is solely MCTs. MCT doesn't not provide the coconut oil taste. You can use it to provide a "greasy" flavor to your food I guess.
