I warmed some coconut oil in my hands to rub through my hair and didn't lose the next day. That's the only off-protocol thing I had done all week so I can only assume the absorbed oil is what caused that. Otherwise, I absolutely love coconut oil in my kitchen and my bathroom...just not on P2

This is R3 for me and have two successful rounds under my belt.

AT the end of the day, we all have the ability to choose.

My success with R1 & R2 is because I followed protocol. I didn't mind that it was 'difficult' because so many other things in life got better. Clothes got big, got a flat tummy, puffiness in my face went away, no more swelling ankles, blood work was all in the 'normal' range...could keep going on and on! I breezed through P3 & P4 both times and took a break for a few months after my last round. I even ate a little bread sugar, and pasta but never had a problem with weight gain during P4. My metabolism TRULY did reset and the proof was on the scale! Dr. S's original program WORKS and I'm not messing with perfection.

What I don't understand is why people want it to be "easy". If you want to lose weight, you must change your relationship with food, and fighting the battle of change and seeing success makes it worth every moment of discomfort!!!!

Thanks to everyone for posting their actual results and for the warning about stabilizing problems. I had read so many posts that Coconut Oil and MCT oil didn't cause stalls or gains that I was making plans about how to use them in my R2P2 which will start June 6th. This thread has scared me straight. I can do anything for 30-40 days if I believe I will have better odds of stabilizing. I'm in R1P4D11 and have had only one correction day (.2 over) so far but I have yet to introduce beans, grains, legumes or sugars as I am terrified of the sugar-addict hiding inside me. Also, quite curiously, I haven't been having cravings for them much either. Actually had 1/2 roasted potato tonight and am afraid of the scale tomorrow. Hopefully it will not affect me.

    Thanks again...Karen

WAIT...you're saying that you WANT refined? I thought the good kind of coconut oil is extra virgin?? I'm so confused...P2 aside!

I think it is important to know that not all coconut oil will help you lose weight. It has to be refined and mct medium chain triglycerides otherwise....extra virgin and unrefined you will gain weight. All products are not created equal. You could reverse the weight loss with the wrong product.
    What brand are you using?
    Refined or unrefined?
    Packaged in bottle or plastic?
    How high level of MCT?
    Some range from 40%_ 65%.
I am looking for highly refined organic expeller pressed MCT in glass jar. Highest range of MCT.
So if anyone says the are successful please give us the exact detais so we do it the right way too.
How many tablespoons a day for how long? We do not calculate the 500 calories?? What fats should no be present in a good quality coconut oil? Trans? Mono? Poly? What is the lowest level of the product we buy should be on the label?
Until I can get the correct oil I will not buy. I hope to get exact detailed feed back from everyone so I don't buy the wrong oil. Thank you very much!! In the mean time I am drinking apple cider organic vinegar like soda pop and I lost 10.5 lbs an it's my 6th day. GreAt fat burner great metabolize booster great health benefits and approved for the diet. It's very good for you. Put it on salads drink it with water and as soon as you get up in the morning and before bed at night. It's working. Read health benefits of apple cider organic vinegar. You will be blown away on how many things it helps with.
Are we allowed to drink mineral seltzer/sparkling water with stevia in it?
    Are seltzers approved?
What lip balm are you all using approved?
Soap and body wash I'm using nutrogena.
Hair dye! I have to get my hair colored before my business trip...how bad is this going to kill me???

Ps : I found a great web site I ordered salad dressings seasonings sauces and travel salads dressing too on hcg perfect portions all products made for hcg diet. I will let yo know when I get them I got BBQ southwest seasoning chilli sauce etc. keep you posted.
What MG of hcg is everyone using?
    And why brand?
    Thanks
Thanks and good luck to everyone.

I havent read through all the tread and I know this is from 2012 but this made me laugh :-) ... I for one will not risk using coconut oil ... say for instance I used some and I still lost one pound .... I'd be thinking what if I didnt have it I could have lost 2 pounds :-P :-) .. I'm saving all that yummy stuff for P3 ... the way I think about it is its only 40 days out of your life to deprive yourself of certain things ... wieghed up against a life time (40+ years) thats just a small blip .... I know thats no how everyone thinks and I'm not saying its not hard sometimes ... but thats what I fall back on that its not really that long a time when you sit down and think about it in terms of other things in our lives ....

Anyway I'll join the Coconutus Resitance in 36 days :-)

The good doctor addressed variations to the protocol very nicely in Pounds and Inches

"The most tiresome patients are those who start counting calories and then come up with all manner of ingenious variations which they compile from their little books. When one has spent years of weary research trying to make a diet as attractive as possible without jeopardizing the loss of weight, culinary geniuses who are out to improve their unhappy lot are hard to take."

Well this is the first time I have done this and I didn't use any coconut oil, I followed the protocol and ate exactly what I was allowed to. And I was worried about stabilizing if I started to cheat. Once I allow one thing, I know I am going to allow other things. Yes the food can get boring, but it really is only 30 - 40 days. I didn't have lots of weight to lose, but I am now down to 126 from 143 and I'm absolutely thrilled with the results. It's not 120 like I was striving for but 17 pounds in 35 days is pretty darn good. Would have never gotten this kind of result on another diet.

I am starting P3 early because I feel like my body is done and is telling me to move on because now I am craving fat. I am near the end and I am fatigued, tired, headaches and hungry, no matter what I change my dose to. I have learned to know when I am hungry and when I am just craving hungry. If I was taking fat thru out this, how would my body know I was done?

At the end of the day people really have to do what is best for them.

To MCT or not to MCT that is the question

It has been really interesting reading all of these posts. I am new to the site and see that there is definitely an unspoken law of what you should say or maybe how should state your opinions; so I will be extremely careful when discussing on these boards. So I will start this off with a disclaimer..."The views and opinions expressed here are that of my own and do not necessarily reflect the views of everyone on the HCG plan and/or Dr. Simeon"...and have not been evaluated by the FDA..Not a real doctor...have not been compensated for my opinion...ok just kidding. This Thread needs a laugh!

Seriously, I have been a die hard strict Simeons protocol follower for 35 days. I am going through a dr. supervised program which is a total of 12 weeks (VLCD)...so I have a very long time to go. My clinics plan is so strict that even melba toast and that tablespoon of skim milk are not allowed. I have not had a problem on the plan and have lost 29 lbs so far. However, I have done a lot research on the benefits of MCT oil on the HCG plan, so I wanted to try it for myself; today is my first day using it and I will be able to see if this will effect me negatively...unlike some of the other opinions I believe that I will be able to see how this is effecting me because my weight loss over the past 5 weeks have been as predictable as old faithful...i lose the exact same thing on the exact same days of the week regardless of whether i had shrimp or chicken or whatever. My clinic has a much different stabilization plan than dr. simeons; and offer much longer plans...I didn't know I would be rouge I just went to a clinic for help...please let me know if I need go somewhere else to discuss my plan due to its "Rouge" 12 week setup. Either way I will keep you all updated! Happy Releases to Everyone!

I've done plenty of rounds and did a round with MCT oil just to test it too. Result was VERY poor losses that did not stick more than about 4 weeks after I ended.

sweetest, there is a rogue thread if you want to post in there. Here is fine too but you might find some support in general.

I doubt that if you take 2 tablespoons of coconut oil you will loseweight, how can you not count the calories in something? I've heard that coconut oil is much healthier than any other oil but i don't think it contains less calories. Its even recommended for type 2 diabetes (here is the article about coconut oil and diabetes) and lowers cholesterol - see this page about coconut oil for cholesterol.

UPDATE on MCT usage "To MCT or Not to MCT"

I just wanted to do a quick post to update the results of my use of MCT Oil. I took 1-2 TBSP in the morning with black coffee or mixed it with vinegar to use as a salad dressing. Again these are my personal results, this may not work for you.
Changing nothing else in my diet; after 4 days of using 1 TBSP I had a loss of 4.2 lbs in one week. This was my average weekly wt. loss even prior to using MCT oil, so no extra loss; however, no gain...but there was one HUGE change in my body composition when I saw my dr. for my weekly check in. Even though I'd lost 4.2 lbs...I had lost 5.2 lbs in body fat. My body fat % dropped to 2 full pts (the largest drop since on the program)!

Since I had such excellent results with just 4 days of use, the next week I upped my dosage to 2 TBSP a day. The 7 day results at my weekly check in....Drum Roll Please. I lost 5.8 lbs, 4 lbs of which were body fat...I'd never lost that amount of weight including fat loss since on the plan. The following week TOM was in town so I discontinued use of the oil, plus I didn't want to get immune to it. I have restarted my use of the oil this week. For me, the use of this oil is certainly not a treat its not sweet and really cant be used for cooking, so this is not a taste or treat cheat...it is more like medicine then anything else. Hope this helps anyone who was curious...again just my experience. This is not on the original protocol. But then again the melba toast (which is on protocol) makes me gain...go figure. So learn YOUR body.

Hey sweetest dimples- can you tell me what device your doc is using to test your body fat loss? Is a reliable method like DEXA, hydrostatic body fat testing, bod pod, or calipers?

I have actually gone back and forth on this questions for QUITE some time, as people ask me often if it's okay to use coconut oil. For now i always say better safe than sorry until I have proof that it's not causing fat gain/excess muscle loss which has been my concern- if you're numbers can be confirmed with a device that reliably tests body fat, that would really help me solve this mystery! If you did indeed lose the fat you said, the ratio is very good!

Please let me know and keep me updated! Thanks!
