I too have had a glass or two while on p2. I fully agree its not protocol, but I rationalize that as far as cheats go, it's not all that bad . Wine is roughly the equivalent of a fruit, both in carbs and calories. You just have to watch because it does stimulate your appetite, which can lead to more cheating. It's also dehydrating, so you need to have an extra glass of water with it.

I've read on other forums and websites to give it a shot and cut out the fruits, replace them with a glass or two of wine, and voila. Some people gain, some stall. Just use your best judgement. It was nice knowing that a glass or two of wine wasn't going to set me back a few days.
I think it's great you can still enjoy some wine and lose. I can't do it, I know cuz I cheated going out to dinner once last time and I'd pay for it 2 days after.
    Good for you

Grammy, Yes, I know it can break dependence, but mine is not physical. It's a mental perspective/habit thing, which is also hard to change.

The worst of it usually is mental, Lea. I have family members with the problem. Another thing that works is naltrexone. There's a specific protocol that you follow with naltrexone. You take it an hour before you drink and it breaks the pleasurable feeling you get from alcohol.
My expert Hcg Diet advice is based specifically on the original Simeons Protocol. Grammy's personal protocol:Grammy's Hcg Diet Protocol

Kansas, how do you know it was the wine that was the problem when you went out for dinner? I can't eat out on p2 without stalling, or at worst gaining. There are just too many hidden ingredients in restaurant food....even if you give specific instructions to the waiter or the chef.

Eta, and if I drink a glass of wine with a meal that has fat or carbs hidden in it....I will gain for sure. Plus most restaurant food is really salty....causing a temporary water gain for me.

Oh, I think it's the wine because I was eating vegan mostly raw and I know the owner. She's an even pickier eater than me. It's the only clean food to get in the whole county. plus, I'd had just wine before and felt weird. probably the wine, not to say that it would affect every one that way. Maybe just me
but you and I have same belief: no matter what they tell you or what you ask for your getting xtra garbage you didnt ask for. I've worked in alot of restaurants so...yeah, I totally hear ya

We all have to make our choices. If someone chooses to have a glass of wine, or a mixed drink, then they accept the consequences, good or bad. As long as someone doesn't "recommend" having a glass for weight loss.

Many of us go rogue in some way, but as long as we all remember that what works for us won't necessarily work for someone else, and to encourage newbies to stick to protocol.

    Congrats on your losses!

Digging this old thread out I wanted to get some input on a GNO (actually IN not out). I haven't had one while on a round and was wondering if others have? How did you handle it? I suppose I could try a glass of wine. Our GNOs usually involve a lot of liquor and expirementation lol (I mean with liquor combos!) ah, I guess I will just be the lame-o nursing the one glass. It will be worth it when I wake up the next morning with no stall, right?

It is actually the 2nd day, not day after you have to watch for when drinking alchohol.

I figure, any off prot. eating should be enjoyed, you know the consequences, enjoy it, get over it and move on. No one is perfect

I have NO idea what GNO is. I imagine it's something fun

Could you just not drink? I mean, I'm guessing getting together with your girlfriends involves fun stuff other than drinking, right? games or movies or gossip? My girlfriends are all excited that I've found a way to lose weight after years of struggle. None of them care if I'm drinking wine or tea when we get together.
