Thread: Lost 29lbs on rx hcg....while drinking alcohol 3 times a week...no judgement please!

You don't have to just bring a bag of celery (unless you've had everything else for the day). You could make it a cooking night. Have them cook whatever they want and you can cook your dinner like you normally would. That way, everyone's eating. I think it's easier for me when I don't draw attention to myself. That's why I always wait to eat dinner with my bf even though it's usually around 7 PM.

Also, with regards to the alcohol/wine - I find it much easier to just not drink it during P2. That way, when I get to P3 I'm much more controlled and it's more of a treat than a habit. (I only have mayyyybe 1/2 a glass once every couple months)

seriously?! They say with a straight face that garbage is good for you?? Treat them like the poor uneducated folks that they are. Remind them that cigarettes used to be considered ok for you, and that low fat diets have resulted in the obesity epidemic in the US. That should give them something to chew on....LOL.

maybe they will eventually learn through your example. I know it's hard to fight all the time. I'm lucky in that my hubby gave up carbs about 8 years ago, so we have very little junk food around the house. Your answer is probably the best way to avoid conflict on such an emotionally charged topic.

    Hi all,
New here... Just started HCG this past Monday and am already down 7lbs in basically 4 days. I glanced over this thread and noticed that most of the alcohol being talked about is wine. I'm SO not a wine drinker - always been a beer girl. Just wondering if any of you have had experiences drinking beer while on HCG. While I'm sure I could go without, I rather enjoy a few beers on a Friday or Saturday night, and especially this Sunday when the Super Bowl is on. The beer I drink is Mich. Ultra which is low in carbs & calories. My husband thinks it should be fine, but then again, he's in perfect shape and downs Guiness. LOL! Anyway, just thought I'd try to get some feedback here.
    Thanks!
    LJ

Beer has alot of salt right?
For me, its not worth the gain, stall it costs me in p2. I like to wait til p3 and then it would be clear vodka with no mix.
Grammy is always reminding that when we stray in p2 it affects stabilization.
Good luck let us know how it goes

Even if it doesn't have many carbs or calories, it can still cause a stall or gain and it's completely off protocol.

I'd rather wait until P3 too when I can actually enjoy it without worrying so much. I only drink wine or meade and only maybe once every couple months though.

You are so rite. I can no longer have wine(my favo) even in p3. If I want a drink(and I do,ha) I have to have vodka and not alot either.

It's an interesting thread. Alcohol is metabolized as not a carb, fat or protein but as ... alcohol. So I'm happy to hear both sides. It's also one of the things that supposedly can help to turn on the body's fat-burning tendencies vs. gaining tendencies via glucagon. *However* I think the HCG protocol is as it is in part because there are a HOST of regulatory/counterregulatory things going on in the female body and by following the straight and narrow you stand a chance of not triggering them. (And there's the dehydration issue etc. etc., and personally I'd avoid beer and wine for other reasons myself.)

But anyway. (I'm not a must-have-alcohol person, however in the past I can say dabbling has not derailed weight for me the way many other things have despite caloric restriction.)

This is kind of an interesting little abstract noting the glucagon role:

Dusting off this thread **blowing**. I am certain I am not the only one who spends countless hours trying to find positive feedback about a little alcohol while on HCG.
I will share my experiences but they are not recommendations or a hall pass as I advise to stay on protocol. One of the reasons I love this diet is because it's so pure. I feel so light, I can breathe out of both nostrils and I don't feel bloated ever. I never cheat with food and don't eat the grissini or melba, just have no use for them. After my last round I maintained for over a year and did not eat bread, pasta etc.... Then I met my boyfriend
I am a divorced, single mother of two young boys and got into a bad habit of having a bottle of wine per night. Embarking on another round of this diet meant I had to cut it out. I love breaking bad habits... that said, when my boys are with their father we have a lot of time and a lot of fun.... our social life is very busy at times.
I have found that if I am going to drink, vodka is the best choice. Vodka/Soda and lemon or if you must, you could squeeze the juice of half of a grapefruit or orange and mix it in for that extra flavor. I typically drop the day after drinking and then stay the same the following day, but don't gain..with Vodka.
Wine is a different story. I had two glasses of pinot grigio one night when we were out and not only did I feel like I was going to die the next day (head was throbbing), I was starving and was up 1.6 lbs (the second day). So that was ruled out...
Red wine had no effectes but no loss and no gain... meh, I'm not a red fan.
I remember in P3 last round I had a beer at a sporting event and gained 3 lbs over night and wrestled with it for the rest of time. Stay away from beer!
This diet has taken away the desire for that 5:30 pm glass of wine which I love. I keep reminding myself that I love how I feel sober and once off protocol want to reserve alcohol for certain events. The boyfriend works long hours and when he gets home at 9pm he likes to have a cocktail and I typically join him when not on protocol.
I am rambling but like to share my experiences becasue I know for some that giving up alcohol completely is tough to do and in the event you want to have a cocktail I recommend vodka. I usually ask for a big glass of soda water with lemon and a shot of vodka on the side. Then dump it in and enjoy the weaker drink. Definitely don't drive after drinking because one drink will make you a bit loopy!!!!!!!!
    Cheers ladies...
