Thread: Lost 29lbs on rx hcg....while drinking alcohol 3 times a week...no judgement please!

    Hi all! I am back on here as I am on my VLCD for round 2. I just wanted to let you all know that I ended up losing an additional 11 lbs on p3 (just eating protocol p3!) for a total of 40lbs during my first round, and kept it ALL off until I got preggo again. my son is now 3 months, and I started today at 187 and want to get to 155 (or less!). I continued to drink alcohol about 3 times a week (prob 2 or 3 drinks) mostly gin or vodka and soda all thru my p3 as well. I was like another member on here in that I experienced a lot of actual weight LOSSES after some nights of drinking (never had a gain or needed to do a steak day). I can't believe my original post sparked so much conversation (haha) but glad to see people getting some good questions answered. see u at the finish line of round 2!

    I am with you! I drank alcohol whenever I felt like it during P2 and P3 (wine or hard liquor, never beer) and always had bigger losses the day after and no gain in the following days. Always still lost the typical amount of weight per round as others do. And never had a problem stabilizing in P3. I went up and down a pound or two the first couple of weeks in P3, as everyone does, but it stabilized great and I have never ballooned back up again.

    I purchased some sugar free strawberry mix (20 calories) I was going to count this as my 6 strawberries for the day and then I seen some Skinny Girl vodka that looks so yummy...been dying to try it together.. Might just give it a shot and hope for the best

    I am not drinking any alcohol on P2 and I LOVE alcohol. I have no craving for it whatsoever. There has even been a couple social occasions where everyone else was drinking and I was fine with my soda water with a lime slice (albeit in a wine glass). Last time on P3 I did start drinking, I could have 2 drinks a day without gaining. (no sugar-y) mixers of course! Alcohol is pretty neutral, the only problem with it is, as long as your body is burning alcohol it won't burn fat (I am talking P3 forward). The other problem with alcohol is it can lower your inhibitions and say "what the heck, okay I'll have some chips." I have to stay low carb to maintain. This time around I am staying on P3 indefinitely. I actually loved it and I no longer miss carbs like rice, potatoes, bread, etc. at all. I'd rather have a glass of wine than a french fry any day. My only weakness is tortilla chips and salsa, and potato chips. When mixed with alcohol, those carbs are a lethal combination for me, I can put on two pounds in a single day - mostly bloating. My solution is to cut the carbs, not the alcohol.

    I am a divorced, single mother of two young boys and got into a bad habit of having a bottle of wine per night. Embarking on another round of this diet meant I had to cut it out. I love breaking bad habits... that said, when my boys are with their father we have a lot of time and a lot of fun.... our social life is very busy at times.
    I have found that if I am going to drink, vodka is the best choice. Vodka/Soda and lemon or if you must, you could squeeze the juice of half of a grapefruit or orange and mix it in for that extra flavor. I typically drop the day after drinking and then stay the same the following day, but don't gain..with Vodka.
    Wine is a different story. I had two glasses of pinot grigio one night when we were out and not only did I feel like I was going to die the next day (head was throbbing), I was starving and was up 1.6 lbs (the second day). So that was ruled out...
    Red wine had no effectes but no loss and no gain... meh, I'm not a red fan.
    I remember in P3 last round I had a beer at a sporting event and gained 3 lbs over night and wrestled with it for the rest of time. Stay away from beer!
    This diet has taken away the desire for that 5:30 pm glass of wine which I love. I keep reminding myself that I love how I feel sober and once off protocol want to reserve alcohol for certain events. The boyfriend works long hours and when he gets home at 9pm he likes to have a cocktail and I typically join him when not on protocol.
    I am rambling but like to share my experiences becasue I know for some that giving up alcohol completely is tough to do and in the event you want to have a cocktail I recommend vodka. I usually ask for a big glass of soda water with lemon and a shot of vodka on the side. Then dump it in and enjoy the weaker drink. Definitely don't drive after drinking because one drink will make you a bit loopy!!!!!!!!

    I just started P3 last week, after losing 43lbs on the 'activator' drops. I've been off the alcohol since Sept 3rd after being a regualr drinker but I was strict during P2, I had a big event last weekend so I started backon alcohol, vodka & soda only, but it was a 4 days party weekend. I didnt get drunk or hungover and I was really good about no carns or sugar. BUT, I gained 5.5lbs, I figured this was the price to pay and aminly water weight. Well I'm up another 2lbs today and I'm not drinking anymore. so i've gained over 7lbs in 5 days on P3. Yikes!!! I'm freaking out, I'm going to do a steak day tomorrow ( had already eaten when I thought about it today) but does this mena I'll never be able ot drink alcohol again? btw, I hate the taste of wine now so I'm happy to stick to Vodka and club soda, but I'd like to be able ot have the odd night of drinking every now and then , during P2, I went to many a festivity with my sad glass of water but I knew its wasnt forever.

    Hello again! Updating you again on my hcg/alcohol experience. Just want to keep ppl in the loop on what has happened to me with my hcg loss and alcohol experimentations, as there really doesn't seem to be much on the internet about the subject except ppl bashing others for doing it occasionally during P2. So, I did 40days on R2P2 with actually MORE alcohol consumption than the 1st round (this time drank prob 4 times/wk either 8oz sauv blanc wine mixed with Pellegrino or 2 vodka sodas with lime), and ended up going from 189 to 161 (I am 5'9 btw). I would have liked to hit 155, but I was SO excited to be able to go out with friends and drink after my 2nd pregnancy (WITH preggo diabetes this time, grrrr!) and just feel ALIVE again that I drank more than I had planned. Still, the weight loss was respectable! I was able to stabilize just fine in P3, only fluctuating between the allotted 2lbs. When my son started teething and sleeping less about 4 months ago I got really stressed out (my 3yr old turned into a lil demanding drill sergeant with the attitude of a 16 yr old around the same time), and I started going CRAZY with sugar to soothe my stress and gained 5lbs. YUCK. I decided to do a shorter 3rd round before summer starts to get ready for my bathing suit. I am now on P2 day 5 of a planned 23 day round. I started at 171.8 after loading (gained 5 lbs! eek!), and am at 163.4 this morn (8.4lbs down on day 5!), hoping to hit low 150's (150 is the ULTIMATE goal, but I looked really great last time at 153). I am planning on having my 1st vodka soda tonight while out with friends. I plan on being very careful with my alcohol intake this time, and it actually feels easier knowing the round is so much shorter (I went 45 days total my 1st round of hcg and felt SPENT at the end even tho 30lbs lighter). I am also doing rx injections instead of rx sublingual drops this time, and while I love the ease of use with the injections, I find the drops seemed to control my hunger just a TOUCH better (note: I AM pmsing, so I am DEF more mentally hungry this week). Just my feelings on it. But I am feeling the great hcg "energy" now that the 1st 2 brutal days have passed, and have resumed light walking. I just keep telling myself it's all for the greater good....I think I can I think I can I think I can....will update again at the end of P3.

    P.S. I agree that completely stopping alcohol intake during hcg is the best way to go. I do. It just isn't for me. So this is for all the "other" ppl You are NOT alone, and the decision is yours. If you gain, stop. If it doesn't seem to be a problem, just keep an eye on your intake and adjust if you fluctuate. And drink LOTS of water!

    From what I see the majority of people do drink on P2 now. It seems like wine is now a P2 fruit LOL I don't drink but if someone wants to I'm not their Mama they can do whatever they want. Doesn't seem to be hurting their losses any and they are enjoying their rounds (which I think is important).

    I drank a little the 1st time and lost 26lbs the 1st round. ( I did more cheating than drinking lol) Went from 180 to 154. Kept the weight off for 3 years and then got really stressed and gained 20lbs in the last 4 months. What's amazing is after I lost the weight the 1st time I would flucuate from 154 - 160. Never needing to diet or exercise so I believe my body did the reset properly. I am now in Round 2 started at 176 after the load. I am on day 5 and have lost 6lbs so far. I want to get down to 145. Not sure if losing 30lbs is possible. My BMI gets into the normal range at 155. I am doing 42 day round. So we'll see what happens. My experience with alchol is I drank Thursday ( about 8 shots of whiskey sugar free rebull on the side) gain 0.4 lbs. This may be due to the fact that I also cheated that day. Not a big cheat but I had 1 spoonful of Ramen Noodles ( figured it was my melba toast lol), 1 piece of salisbury steak from the work cafe 1 piece of chicken breast ( 3.0 oz) and 1 piece of fish...No I wasn't hungry I was just munching. Idk why I did it. Stupid. Then drank Friday night ( about 8 shots of whiskey red bull... the norm) and I was down 1.6lbs. I didn't cheat on food too bad yesterday. After drinking I had 3 baked wing dings ( less than 3 oz). I am waiting to see what happens tomorrow. But I will most likely walk a mile today and eat very clean.... I can't say I won't cheat anymore. Next weekend is my daughter's birthday party and the week after is Easter... Ughhhh!!! I am going to try to eat clean next weekend and save my cheat day for Easter... but I am not sure that's wise as easter is normally tons of food.

    I say with alcohol see what works for you. I plan to limit my drinking to once a week 2 shots a week as I would love to drink a lot less. I hate drinking so much. Im just so lonely and bored in the evenings on the weekend. ( BF and I are broken up but together.. he moved out so it's just me and the kids now. He works 12 hour days so I am by myself most of the time) Alcohol is a way to not be as alone... But I am going to drink less and go to bed earlier so I am not tempted to drink as much. I do feel better on this diet.

    As I said, now I am in R2 of HCG, and after about day 15, I have allowed myself wine 2-3 times a week (2-3 glasses.) I certainly can't have as much as I would have pre-diet (not sure if this is just less fat overall to metabolize the alcohol, or less food in system to slow it down.) I never have had melba toast and I skip the second fruit on the days I have wine. No gains - just steady losses so far.

    While I have a better understanding now of my relationship with food, like many people who have commented, I miss wine! I tend to be one of those people that is thinks, "I've had a great day! ...let's celebrate with a glass of wine!" ...or "I've had a terrible day...let's celebrate with a glass of wine!" hahaha...I know that is a little messed up - and probably related to my messed up family structure of either stuffing feelings or exploding feelings...

    Anyway, my whole point here is to say that while I do NOT want to quit drinking .... I would like a healthier relationship with alcohol that doesn't feel so needy of it at 5:00 each day! Also, I am concerned that once I reach my goal weight, I will be risking other health issues by drinking as much as in the past (since I won't be able to handle as much) such as blood sugar issues...and just generally don't like waking up with that fuzzy headed feeling...makes it too hard to get to the gym.

    So if any of you have dealt with this and have advice that doesn't sound like "just pull yourself together" I would appreciate it. The HCG weight loss has really made me feel transformed...I feel like I could do anything now! So, I am ready to look at this issue, but it isn't an easy habit to break (or I would have already.)

    Thank you for your post. It is hard to find honest opinions from non-judge mental people online. I would like to have just one glass once or twice a week and everywhere I ask basically says I will burn in hell and should have some discipline! But if I allow my self one here or there I feel I won't go crazy down the track and drink a whole bottle! We all have vices and at the end of the day in moderation they are ok. I am glad to hear people still had success while making an allowance for a small vice here and there.
