Not sure what this part is for...am I doing a message or a post???

Hi! totally new here. I have no idea how to work fourms...Anyway- I found this site while googling "vodka while on hCG diet" Leajohnson1....are you me? Cause I totally feel like we are the same person!!! Well CHEERS to you lady. Hope you're doing well

I started on R1 of HCG this spring at 180 lbs and after 40 days was down to 151.8. I popped up to 154.5 at the end of R1/P3. I am on R2/sublingual homeopathic drops, VLCD 20 - morning weight today 142.4 (yay!) goal is 135-138 (I am 5'5" - and this was a good weight for me in my 30s (I am turning 46 next month.)

I went a little crazy with the wine in R1/P3...frankly right from the first day. My weight never went up from this...in fact, over the first 4 weeks of adding wine and good fats (about 1800-2000 calories a day) I lost 4 lbs - down to 148.0. Where the weight went up was when I would eat carbs - particularly in big chain restaurants when you aren't sure what else they are putting in the rice...or worse, having chips/tortillas/salsa sort of food. The grain carbs were the worst offenders (wheat and rice.) But surprisingly, small portion of (organic) potatoes once a day with dinner never seemed a problem.

As I said, now I am in R2 of HCG, and after about day 15, I have allowed myself wine 2-3 times a week (2-3 glasses.) I certainly can't have as much as I would have pre-diet (not sure if this is just less fat overall to metabolize the alcohol, or less food in system to slow it down.) I never have had melba toast and I skip the second fruit on the days I have wine. No gains - just steady losses so far.

While I have a better understanding now of my relationship with food, like many people who have commented, I miss wine! I tend to be one of those people that is thinks, "I've had a great day! ...let's celebrate with a glass of wine!" ...or "I've had a terrible day...let's celebrate with a glass of wine!" hahaha...I know that is a little messed up - and probably related to my messed up family structure of either stuffing feelings or exploding feelings...

Anyway, my whole point here is to say that while I do NOT want to quit drinking .... I would like a healthier relationship with alcohol that doesn't feel so needy of it at 5:00 each day! Also, I am concerned that once I reach my goal weight, I will be risking other health issues by drinking as much as in the past (since I won't be able to handle as much) such as blood sugar issues...and just generally don't like waking up with that fuzzy headed feeling...makes it too hard to get to the gym.

So if any of you have dealt with this and have advice that doesn't sound like "just pull yourself together" I would appreciate it. The HCG weight loss has really made me feel transformed...I feel like I could do anything now! So, I am ready to look at this issue, but it isn't an easy habit to break (or I would have already.)

Sorry this was a little rambling and thanks for your feedback!

    Thumbs up Alcohol and HCG

I just wanted to add he same thing about what works for different people and keep this in in an absolute judge free zone. I did the HCG first round in July 0f 2012. It was Fantastic. I lost 10lbs in 10 days and then a total of 20 in 40 days. After day 9 I had red wine but only 2. Now that sounds like a lot but for me it was total moderation and I had some on and off including Titos gluten free vodka with diet soda...but just one. I have kept my weight off within 5 lbs for 3 years. Very happy, however I am a personal trainer and spin instructor. I decided to do it again because...and this is crazy, but I find it really, mentally helps me get back to clean eating and moderation. I found that sometimes exercise slowed my weightloss but not alcohol...in moderation and I did substitute the calories. I know crazy. However, I once cheated and had a marinated piece of chicken and a few black beans and it took me 4 days to get that weight back off. I just started again and thought it would be hard...it is not easy but I lost 5.5 lbs in two days. I now want to have one cocktail and it is only day 5 so I came to this forum. I know I am rambling but I think we do need some moderation. I taught two indoor cycling classes today and burned many calories. I am afraid to try a drink but I am going to have a Titos vodka ( very distilled) and diet 7. I will be so mad if I screwed up but I will share it if I did. Again, I don't plan to do this again for maybe 3 to 5 days but for me...well that is better then before so it is all positive. I also mixed my veggies but the diet says not to, so you just need to find out what works for you. Fingers crossed. Best of Luck to all of you...HCG does work!
I forgot to mention that when I do I will absolutely drink 16 ounces of water with that cocktail. I have already had 88 ounces of water so I believe water is key...to everything.

Well??? Did the drink mess you up?
I exercise 5 times per week (boot camp, spin, yoga) and I love a cocktail too! I didn't know that about the Titos vodka, so I am going to try that brand. (Vodka with soda water and a splash of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice is my favorite!) I'm on P2 day 3, and wondering when I might be brave enough to try!!

Candygirl: It sounds like you would benefit from reading the Original Manuscript for the HCG protocol. There is a link to it in the top menu bar of the forums.

P3 is not 2-3 weeks. It is 21 days exactly. (Although some continue it longer.) And you need 2 loading days, not one. So there are a few things that you haven't got quite right. You can't cheat or drink during the protocol and expect it to work correctly for you. You have to think of it as a medical prescription to be followed. So there are too many variables when that happens for anyone to comment on what might be normal.

However, many do find that they have carb sensitivities. It sounds like you may be one of theme. You can go into an eating style like Fast Metabolism Diet by Hayley Pomroy once you get to P4. It will help you maintain and will fix your carb sensitivities.

    Alcohol

I am brand spankin' new to this. My hcg is prescription compound cream I rub on the inside of my wrist twice a day where the skin is the thinnest. I am used to having a skinny vodka tonic or two each and every night. I need the quinine in the diet vodka tonic for my restless leg syndrome but really haven't been able to find out if small amounts of vodka are detrimental to the fat elimination. Dr. Simeon does touch upon alcohol use in his manuscript by saying his imbibers find a little alcohol gets them inebriated quickly and they find themselves not craving drinks. What I want to know is, is this going to hurt me?

    Alcohol

I was so encouraged to read your post. I like vodka and regularly would have a skinny vodka tonic or two each night. I need the quinine in the tonic water to keep down my restless leg syndrome but really love the taste of vodka. I have also put cucumber and asparagus and tomato in with my beef with seasonings. Not on Dr. Simeon's protocol but I threw caution to the wind. I'm not entirely sure his reasoning for separating veggies out like that. He doesn't explain in his manuscript. Are you still using the diet or maintenance?

    R1 P2 5.8lbs lost

Had a rough night. After reading this thread I decided to enjoy 2 glasses of wine (with club soda and 24 oz water). Well, I also enjoyed 1/2 bottle (5oz) of Magnesium Citrate as I was in desperate need of a bm (going on 4 days :-O). 1am rolls around and I'm sick, both ends. Not sure if it was the wine or the MC. I don't think is was the wine as I am a lover of the libation and was drinking it this past Sunday before day P2 D1.

I'll give it another try at some point :-)

The majority can't drink on hcg so I wouldn't try it again. LOL The original poster's results are way off what is normal.
