    Protocol. . .

I haven't started hCG yet, still researching. That being said, from what I've read (including "Pounds and Inches") the purpose of following the protocol as written by Dr. Simeons is the total stabilization after weight loss. So, if you don't load, don't follow Phase 2 as written and then follow up with Phase 3 as written, how do you know that you have reset your Hypothalamus? I personally plan on following Dr. Simeons' plan to the letter - my goal is to lose weight, reset my Hypothalamus, and keep the weight off. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated. . .

IMO, if you're not following protocol then you're really just taking part in another diet. All of us have experienced yo-yo dieting. It was that realization that brought me here. I'm not interested in another yo-yo experience. I want to lose the weight, change my eating habits, and experience lifelong stabilization. I've made some mistakes, but my goal is to stay on protocol.

I would assume that a person who hasn't reset their hypothalamus would start to creep back up the scales pretty easily when it's all said and done.

    Round 1, hhcg, went from 193.8 to 171.8 = 22 lbs lost!

Starting Round 3 with a whole lot more to lose...

    Stay tuned for 9/15 losses!

well first one has to believe everything he wrote about hcg is 100% true, despite the fact that science has grown and there are things in P&I that we now know are not.

but to answer your question, i guess you know that you've "reset your hypothalamus" when you can eat X number of calories without gaining weight, in a way that you previously were not able to do. Many of us were gaining weight before hcg eating less than the prescribed number of "maintenance" calories

As the others said, you know you've reset your hypothalamus if you've reset your weight set point...if you don't stabilize, you haven't reset it. If you do stabilize, you have reset it.

Southern, what things do we now know are not true in P&I? I'm not very scientific.

one example would be his reasoning for skipping doses during one's period

Protocol is a good guideline--you won't go wrong eating just the foods listed in P&I. But let's face it--it does get boring sometimes. And if your choice is a little rogueing or going off track altogether, then try a little rogueing. There are so many food options that Dr. Simeons never heard of or imagined and so many different people from different cultures have succeeded on HCG. I find it hard to believe that only the European diet can help people lose weight with HCG.

You might lose faster, you might lose slower, you might stall, or you might even gain a little. Regardless, it's a lesson for you and anybody else you share your experience with. Even if a food gives you a bad experience, I won't judge. What you eat won't make me fat.

Yes perfectly said. Better to go a little rogue vs. Throwing in the towel and giving up.

I read this book and nowhere in it does it mention that you load during Siesta. However in this forum several people mention that they loaded.

Siesta is not protocol. As I understand it, it is more like adding HCG to Atkins induction, and you don't do loading. You eat fat & protein, but only 20 carbs or less are allowed per day. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. The Siesta thread is here: http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...a-beach-65196/

Personally, I would rather go with the proven methods of the original protocol than to be a guinea pig for someone else's idea on how to improve it. Regardless of any changes in the flow of scientific thinking that have happened since the 1950's, the protocol still works consistently. I think I can offer my history with the HCG protocol as an example of the success that can be achieved without tweaking it. For me, it is a miracle. Everything else I tried just got me fatter.
