    My journey!

When I was in my 20's, my weight was pretty steady at 120-125. It was effortless! I ate whatever I wanted, and went out dancing regularly but otherwise no real physical fitness routine. Ah, youth! By the time I got pregnant with my daughter at 31, I somehow ticked up to 150-155. 6 months after my pregnancy I was at a whopping 178, which at my height of 5'4" was incredibly uncomfortable and unfamiliar to me. I didn't recognize myself or feel like myself. Then I found out about HCG. I did my first round through a med-spa place. I was very focused, and perfectly on protocol. I lost 25lbs. After that round I started a gym routine. 6 months later I had only gained back 5lbs (and really, it was likely muscle mass I didn't have before. This is when I did my next round. Again was perfectly on protocol. Lost another 25. Gained back 5. I'm pretty sure the 5 I consistently gain back is water weight I hold from eating carbs again. I maintained my gym routine after this round as well. This left me fluctuating between 130-140 on any given day. I *really* want to stabilize to where my weight fluctuation is 120-125, where I was in my 20's: it looked AMAZING on me!

Here's my struggle now: I've done 2 short rounds since, trying to have a LIW of 115/120, knowing I will gain back 5 and fluctuate 5. This is a reasonable goal for my height and body type. The two short rounds I did, I was *not* POP. I think I got cocky or something. I experimented with drinking (was able to have a few vodka/sodas and still lose if I only ate one of my meals that day). I experimented with Fat Fasts (mac nut days or tracking macro's in MyFitnessPal and keeping my fat intake around 90%+). I achieved losses, but did NOT stabilize well after either round. I also did not do full Phase 3's on these rounds. Both ended up being completely moot: today I am generally fluctuating between 135-140. Those 2 short rounds just didn't stick, and it was totally my fault.

I think I don't feel AS desperate to lose the weight, since I rationalize to myself that I am still down about 20lbs from my pre-baby weight. When I was in the 170's, I felt truly DESPERATE to get the weight off. Now, I feel less uncomfortable in my skin. But still not truly happy and excited about where I am. Beyond that, I have fallen off of my gym routine: where I was once going 3 days a week, I haven't been going consistently anymore for almost a year. So my tone is lost along with the progress of these last 2 short and somewhat rogue rounds.

I took my first injection today. I've got 2 vials, but have only mixed one (because of the 30 day shelf life once mixed). I am HELL BENT on achieving my goal, and want to complete this short round and then extend it until I reach 115: which should stabilize me at 120. Then I can fluctuate 5 and still stay under 130 and at my ideal weight. I really want to be POP this time, as I truly believe that not only food wise but mentally, straying from protocol made me take the diet less seriously. I really want to stabilize properly this time as well, as I have never gained back the weight from my first 2 long rounds, but do this dance or regaining with my last 2 attempts.

I'm hoping I can turn to these boards for support when I am tempted to stray from protocol. Here's my plan as of now:

I am loading by eating pretty much like I did on Fat Fast days: macadamia nuts, bacon, heavy whipping cream in my coffee, eggs with HWC, butter, cream cheese (good lord it's good!), etc. The reason I am taking this approach is because otherwise, the loading days get carb heavy and are more of a binge... I think Fat Fast loading will give me the "extra" resource of fat that I need to get through the first few days of VLCD, while pushing me into ketosis rather than adding more water weight that must be lost before the real fat loss begins. It's Thursday evening, I took my shot a couple hours ago and just ate a handful of mac nuts. I'll do bacon and FF eggs for dinner, and continue FF through Saturday night. I am going out on Saturday night and will likely have a few vodka/sodas since it's the last day I can get away with it and I don't think it will effect my ketosis (much). Sunday will be VLCD day 1. I plan to do some meal prep Sunday as well, to make life easier for me. I am a single mother who works for herself and lack of preparation has contributed to mistakes that push me into going rogue to try to make up for slip-ups.

I hope this time, I get that last damn 25 it'll take to get me to 115 - OFF! And get it to STAY OFF!
    I CAN DO THIS!

I do want to attempt to still go to the gym while on this round though. I think it's important for my long term success to get back into my routine. Any tips/ideas on how to do this without screwing up the diet?

You should not start any strenuous work out programs at the same time you embark on P2. Not even in P3. Wait till P4 for that as your body is busy doing other stuff in P2 & 3. Adding another stress factor like exercise can interfere with your losses and stabilization.

Gentle stretching or walking is fine, however.

Sounds like you have a good plan. You'll probably lose on your load only eating fats, so you should be off to a good start. All the best!

Thanks Leez, that's my hope: kick this round off by losing rather than gaining. Bummer to hear that about working out though. What determines itself as "strenuous"? Can I lift weights, but just do less weight/more reps?

You can continue to do things that you are used to doing. But its a bad idea to start new programs. You are going to have just enough energy and stamina to get through your normal days. If you add something beyond that, you won't have the endurance for it, and you could hinder your progress.

I've never understood that aspect of logic towards HCG. Granted we're consuming 500 calories of FOOD. However we are able to maintain energy, overall health, and most importantly: fat loss... because we are burning 2000-4000 calories each day of fat stores. Would that not mean that we DO have enough energy to work out? If we were truly just relying on the 500 calories per day we would be losing muscle protein/mass and would be in "starvation mode".

I *used to* be used to lifting 3 day each week with a light cardio warm up. It's been a year without that... Truly wondering if doing a lighter version of that would mess things up: or how it could, the above said.

Unfortunately, there is not a big apologetic made for it in the protocol. It merely says that you will have the energy to continue your normal activities.

There is a delicate balance set up with the action of the HCG in your body. Its my opinion that adding a stressor like a new exercise program can disturb that balance. You are, of course, free to experiment on your self and give it a try.

I'm curious to know how you did. Did you lose your weight and maintain the loss? Did you work out?

I like the Fat Fast way to load vs heavy carbs. Best wishes! Sounds like you know what to do. My journey!
