I weighed 205.4lbs right after emptying my bladder first thing in the morning. Is it common to keep losing nearly 2 pounds every day? I've felt mild hunger throughput the day yesterday. I almost didn't feel any hunger on Thursday and on Friday.

It is not unusual to lose a lot the first week. 8-10 pounds is common, but I've seen people lose more. I've had loss days of 4-5 pounds in the first week followed by several 2-3 pound days. A lot of that is inflammation that is clearing with the elimination diet aspect of the protocol.

Losses will slow, usually starting sometime in the second week. After really big losses, there may be a time of slow to no loss for a few days as your body regroups and your water levels adjust. This is normal too, and you don't need to do anything about it, just wait it out. When the water releases, the scale starts moving again.

Mild hunger is normal the first week. It sounds like you are doing fine.

Is this what Dr.Simeons refers to the "plateau"? My goal is to weigh 170lbs at the end of the six weeks of the hCG injections.

Yes, women usually cannot avoid having days of no losses, sometimes long strings of them. A stall of 10 days is not uncommon. But then you get what we call a "whoosh" and it all evens out.

You are allowed to lose a maximum of 34 pounds in a long round. If you get there before your 40th dose day, you need to transition into P3 at that point.

When you did Phase 2 did you always eat 2 cups of vegetables for both lunch and dinner? Since today I ate two cups of vegetables for lunch, and only one cup of brussels sprouts for dinner since I don't like brussels sprouts that much. So would it be okay that

I weigh my vegetables and add up the calories so that I don't go over 500. Because I eat both fruits and melba allowed, my vegetable portion usually ends up being 4-6 oz, which is around a cup. The exception would be raw greens, because they are so fluffy.

Since we are in the Dr. Simeons forum, I will mention that brussel sprouts are not on the allowed food list. So its probably a good thing you don't like them. Cabbage is on the list, however.

Today I weighed 203.8lbs. As of today I'm still having bouts of hunger, but not as bad as I had on Wednesday. I felt weak today walking from a parking lot to a building. I thought that being on the hCG diet I would have tons of energy and little to no hunger at all. The clinic that I got the hCG injections only fill the syringes up to 125IU. They told me that the reason they don't let patients get 150IU because it would be bad.

On HCG you should have enough energy to do your normal activities. You generally don't have more than that. But some do have a marked sense of well-being, even sometimes described as a euphoria. Not everyone gets this effect though.

You are losing very quickly, so your body could still be trying to get itself in balance. Weakness can be a symption of low potassium. Its a good idea to take magnesium and have a low dose potassium supplement handy for muscle weakness during HCG. You can also add some mineral salt to your food and water. Generally, you don't lose that quickly if your dose is wrong.

If you are getting very hungry at the end of the day, or waking up very hungry, that might indicate your dose is low. Have you done a skip day yet?

A skip day is how you can check if your dose needs adjusted. On the day that you skip your injection, pay attention ONLY to how you feel after 4PM and into the evening (assuming you take your injection in the morning). That will tell us which way you need to adjust. Dose adjustment should not be made without doing a skip day.

I'm surprised to hear that your clinic doesn't ever use doses above 125iu. That is unusual. Most of the time we are helping people adjust dose whose clinics or doctors have put them on 200iu or even higher doses. 150iu is a very normal starting dose. So its possible 125iu is a bit low for you.

What day of VLC are you on? Generally any mild hunger issues will resolve after around VLCD 5 or 6.

Well today's my 6th day on the VLCD. So far I haven't done a skip day yet.

If I continue with the 215 IU of hCG injections throughout phase 2. Will I feel like my old self back again once I start phase 3?

    Is that dose a typo?

You will feel fine in Phase 3. You should feel fairly normal during P2.

If you are doing the 40 dose round, you need to skip a day a week to prevent the onset of immunity to the HCG. And you can skip a day a week even if doing the shorter round.

So it is perfectly logical to skip tomorrow, and use that skip day as a diagnostic test of your dose. There is no reason to go through the whole of P2 uncomfortably hungry, when that is not necessary. Also, you can lose muscle if your dose is off, so its important to get it right.

Skip tomorrow and report back on how you are feeling in the early evening. That should tell us what we need to know. If your dose is off you will either be a lot hungrier and weaker, or your hunger will go away and you won't feel so drained and fatigued.
