Are You Fat? It's Not Your Fault

by kristinhcg on January 7th, 2012 at 03:09 PM
I just read an interesting article that discusses how eating high-fat foods damages the hypothalamus. This isn't news for anyone who's read Dr. Simeon's "Pounds and Inches." What IS news is the assertion that eating these high-fat foods for an extended period of time actually causes "scarring" in the brain. The scarring is said to effect our POMC cells, which "play a critical role in the body's fat control system, helping regulate appetite and prevent excess weight gain."

Birthday Cake Substitute? Advice, Please!

by kristinhcg on December 12th, 2011 at 09:27 AM
I've got a dilemma, HCGers! My birthday is December 20th & the girls at work are on my back about it. It's tradition in our office that the last one to have a birthday brings the dessert for the next birthday. I've told my coworkers thanks, but no thanks & they keep pushing me on it. They must really want to eat some cake! I planned to take my short cycle through December 22 which would be 23 days. I'm starting to wonder, should I just cut it short by two days or suck it up & continue

No, I don't want your cookie

Monday night I did my coworker a favor & filled in for a missing person on her league bowling team. This in itself is hilarious because I don't bowl & have zero technique. Before I headed over to the bowling alley, I did a face check in the mirror. My skin looked remarkably smooth, and I didn't feel the need to put on fresh makeup before heading out. This is a victory for me & I credit my clean diet & HCG!

At the alley, there was an older man who came to chat with

Round 2..ding ding ding, fight!

by kristinhcg on December 3rd, 2011 at 05:56 PM
Today is day 3 VLCD & I am comforted by the fact that I don't have to be creative in the kitchen. I'm thankful I don't have to agonize over my choices as I did in round 1...been there, done that! I enjoyed a so-so lunch that I gobbled down in a rush: albacore tuna packed in water, with a bit of added tomato sauce. Sounds nasty, but tastes great! I hadn't been to the store so my choices were limited. So limited, in fact, that the tuna & sauce was my only choice.

I went by the

Food Coma, P3 day 6

by kristinhcg on November 16th, 2011 at 07:30 PM
Yesterday's eating didn't look too pretty on paper. HCG-approved chocolate mug cake, split between dessert and afternoon snack, and a chicken salad with ranch for lunch. I had a hair appointment I didn't get out of until 8:30 so I opted out of dinner. I woke up this morning at 178.2, (LIW 182.2), and subsequently blew it all to bits.

Had a morning meeting with coworkers at my favorite office location. It's about 30 min from where I work daily, but I hadn't been there in over
