About Morri
Throughout my life, I was the kid that was always sick, hormonally unbalanced (unkind puberty), and I had made the decision to get as healthy as I could through healthy eating and exercise. Eating disorders and being overly critical have come in and out of my life since adolescence, but going gluten free, soy free, and sugar free (only naturally occurring sugars, honey, and maple syrup) changed my life in more ways than I could possibly begin to explain (although I do try on my site Meals with Morri).

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2011. Based upon a lot of symptoms I read, it went unchecked for my entire life. While I was glad that I was getting treatment, I also came to feel like the underdog. Anyone with hypothyroidism regardless of age can understand what it’s like to think you have no control to where the direction of where your health is going, that no matter what you do your health isn’t going to get better. I wouldn’t accept those terms.

My partner, who has done the HCG protocol four times now, mentioned how the thyroid could be positively impacted on it. I just finished graduate school, and I had wanted to do something to detox my body and to come to learn and respect the sacred machine it actually is. My first round is devoted to that. I started this adventure at 128 lbs, being 5’3.5”, so I’m working on not making this solely a weight loss experience; rather, I’m devoting my experience to healing my body from the molecular level, hopefully either correcting my thyroid or limiting the amount of medication I have to take, gaining a positive body image and enhancing my self esteem, and creating a bonding experience with my partner who is doing this with me.

Life is one big experiment, and if there is anything to be said about me, it’s that I’ll try anything once as long as it's for the right reasons.

Down another pound. Core noticeably more defined, as is face. Tomatoes posed no problems, so attempted mixing with onions for lunch.

I was experiencing more hunger than what SO said was normal yesterday, and him being in the same boat the day before, took a day of not dosing. I am presently doing the same and halfway through the day without a dose. Noticeable difference. Less to nonexistent hunger.

I hit the Wall though. As in, I feel utterly crappy. No energy. Exhausted.

Update: Quinoa is just dandy for me. Lost 1.4 pounds from yesterday, and feeling ecstatic! I’m a pound less than when I started (128.2 to 127.2). Seeing definition in my core. Feeling more confident about this adventure.

Apple Cinnamon Quinoa

42 g / 1/4 c. Quinoa, dried
120 ml Filtered Water (although I add at least 180 ml because I like the soupiness)
1 Med. Granny Smith Apple, cut into small chunks
Cinnamon, to taste
Sea salt, to

Created account to ask about nutritional yeast. Thinking of keeping a daily log of my journey, so I'm starting here.

I don't know how many people in the HCG forum are in the same boat at me: youngish (under 25), not a lot of weight to lose (<14 lbs.), food sensitivity to gluten/soy/cane sugar/certain yeasts/alcohol, and having an underactive thyroid.

My partner mentioned how welcoming this community is, so I look forward to getting my feet wet in this regard.
