The HCG diet is a controversial one and by now you have read a number of reviews on Hcg weight loss. There are some people who swear by it and others who believe that it is dangerous and that the risks it poses are too high.  What isn’t up for debate is the fact that he HCG diet works. Individuals that follow the plan lose weight. However, whether or not this is due to the very low calorie diet requirements of the plan or the HCG injections, is largely unknown. The founder of the hCG Protocol, Dr. Simeons, was the first person to believe that there was a connection between HCG (a hormone) and weight loss. Most of the the HCG protocols found today, are an offshoot of his original plan.

The HCG diet contains a number of different phases, requires that individuals eat only 500 calories and day and take HCG injections or consume drops.  HCG is believed to help facilitate weight loss because it helps to push stored fat into the bloodstream. When this is coupled with a low 500 calorie diet, it is possible for individuals to lose weight without starving. The body “feeds” on the stored fat and thus a 500 calorie diet is sufficient.  A person can adhere to this plan without feeling hungry.

Most people that follow the diet to the letter are able to lose weight. Many of these individuals are great supporters of the plan because it enabled them to lose weight. It is also popular amongst bodybuilders as well.

Not everyone, however, is in love with the HCG diet. There are those who point out that 500 calories a day is not a sufficient amount nor healthy. A low calorie diet is generally considered one where individuals are able to consume roughly 1200 a day. The HCG diets’ 500 calories is not even one-half of that amount.

There are other individuals who are not quite sold on the contention that HCG can help people lose weight. The FDA has not approved the hormone for the weight loss purposes, so there are a lot of questions surrounding this claim.

Whether or not the HCG diet works, is safe and a good diet plan is up for debate. There are some individuals who absolutely love it. There are others that do not. Again, there is little doubt that it works. Some people suggest, however, that it is not a safe way to lose weight and thus, should not be used by dieters. Other people disagree and believe that it is a safe and solid plan to lose a substantial amount of weight extremely fast.

While I have a background in nursing and nutrition, I also personally lost 88 lbs with the HCG Diet in 2002, and I kept it off for over 10 years. I am currently on a mission to lose 45 lbs of baby weight with HCG from Nu Image and Diet Doc. This diet changed my life, leading me to start the first Hcg Diet site: Hcgdietinfo.com. 15+ years later, 100 million visits, over a million pages, & countless lives changed… HDI has become the true highlight of my journey.
