A fifteen day version of the HCG diet is promoted by several sites providing both prescription and homeopathic Hcg (hhcg.) The idea is to use it to lose significant weight for social emergencies– like that wedding that sneaked up on you, or an unexpected trip planned in the coming month.
There seems to be no difference in the instructions or menus other than several supplements are suggested for purchase to be used along with the HCG, and may include appetite suppressants and stimulants.
So here is the deal. The Original Simeons protocol (Pounds and Inches) does not provide for a round of less than 23 dose days. This is the minimum period of time that will allow the metabolism to rest enough that it can reset at a new, lower set point. There is specific reference in the protocol that for even someone wanting to lose 5 pounds, the 23 dose day minimum is still used for this reason. The accommodation at the point where enough weight is lost is to increase calories from the allowed menu items to a point sufficient to stop the weight loss. The person would then complete the minimum round requirements. In this way, they will be able to keep their loss after successfully completing another 21 days following the Phase 3 guidelines of no starches or sugars.
Those that only do 15 days on Hcg or Hhcg may indeed lose 5 to 15 pounds, but there is no guarantee they will maintain that loss past a few days after stopping the hhcg. So like any other quick weight loss strategy, the rebound effect will be something that has to be dealt with. I suppose if one was motivated to do something drastic to achieve a fleeting lower number on the scale, it might be worth it to try with the hormone, as the benefit would be the lack of hunger during the weight loss. But the caveat is that any weight lost is most likely to be temporary and regain could be astonishingly fast.
